Spears took things in an unexpected direction with her 2013 album Britney Jean. That record was more personal than any of Spears' previous records. The "Womanizer" singer had some interesting things to say on Twitter about one of the bonus tracks from Britney Jean. "'Brightest Morning Star' is a song Sia helped me write about God," Spears wrote.

Songs about God have run the gamut from reverent to blasphemous. Spears took the respectful route. In "Brightest Morning Star," Spears presents God as standing beside her when she is struggling through tough times.

God has been given many names in countless religions, but he's usually not called the "brightest morning star." It appears that Spears' song refers to a passage about Jesus from Revelation 22. "I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches," he said. "I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star." For context, Christians understand Jesus as both the creator of the world and a descendant of the biblical King David, hence the line "I am the Root and the Offspring of David."

In the rest of the passage, Jesus says that the Holy Spirit and the Bride of Christ (the Christian church) are aching for the Second Coming. "The Spirit and the bride say, 'Come!'" the passage reads. "And let the one who hears say, 'Come!' Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.

The passage ends with a warning. "I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll," Jesus said. "And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll."

Songs based on the Book of Revelation tend to be macabre as the book focuses on the end of the world. However, "Brightest Morning Star" is a pretty easy-listening ballad. Say what you want about Spears as a musician, she does not always go for the expected.

What Sia thinks about God

While Spears seems to be drawing from the Bible for her spirituality, Sia takes a different approach. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that, in 2014, Sia explained her religious views on The Howard Stern Show. The "Chandelier" singer said she believes in a Higher Power, viewing him as a queer surfer akin to Santa Claus. 

Spears and Sia believe in God in their own ways and they channeled their beliefs into a pretty song.

The Bravo star is a big fan of Spears, 42, and read her tell-all memoir, The Woman In Me, which candidly opened up about her relationship with Timberlake, 43, whom she dated from 1999 to 2002.

In the book, Spears claimed that Timberlake cheated on her repeatedly. She also confessed that she had an abortion when she became pregnant with his baby. Spears claimed that the breakup, which happened via text, played a role in her personal struggles.

While Rachel has loyalty to Spears, she and Melissa, 45, had a great time at Timberlake's MSG concert on Tuesday, June 25, despite almost missing it.

"We needed a security escort and a box. We were down on the floor and people kept coming up to us," Rachel recalled. "There was a line of people trying to get photos. They thought we were there for an appearance. I love fan interaction, but we were going to miss the concert."

Rachel shared that one fan was so excited to see Melissa's husband that she "literally screamed" when she saw him.

"I love him, he's like a brother to me. Screamed in his face," she told Us. "I thought she was going to pass out. It made me happy to see how happy we make other people."

Melissa, Joe and Rachel weren't the only famous faces in attendance at Timberlake's concert. The Real Housewives of New York City star Jessel Taank was also at the show and was hanging out with Timberlake's wife, Jessica Biel, in the crowd.

Taank shared a clip via her Instagram of Biel, 42, dancing in the crowd at Timberlake's Forget Tomorrow World Tour. Biel swayed her hips and sang along to Timberlake's music before taking a sip of her drink. Biel's appearance at the concert came one week after the singer was arrested and charged for driving while intoxicated.

Nick Viall Slams Rumors About His Relationship With Wife Natalie Joy

The internet isn't always a rosy place.

And no one is more aware of that fact than Nick Viall. In fact, the Bachelor alum recently revealed how he and his wife Natalie Joy have learned to navigate the highs and lows of life in the spotlight, and the rumors that come with it.

"I'm aware of a ton of rumors about me," Nick said during an appearance on The LadyGang podcast June 25. "And I know that I'm unaware of 90% more cause I don't read it."

He added, "I don't read my own press, I don't read my comments. I'm not on Reddit—I actively stay off of it. And I'm just unaware of things that people say."

And since Natalie—whom Nick wed in April—began to co-host the occasional episode of The Viall Files alongside her husband, the 43-year-old admitted the move has put "a little bit of a target on her back."

"It is what it is," he continued of people commenting on their relationship. And while he acknowledged Natalie's gotten better at tuning out the noise, he added, "You will never be able—you can never have thick enough skin to handle whatever rumors are about you."

It's why learning to disengage from the discourse has been so pivotal for Nick.

"I'm human," he acknowledged. "As much as I say I stay offline, I'm sure I've had my moments of weakness. I had to get better and better at this."

In fact, it's those moments that have helped Nick learn engaging isn't worth it.

"When something happens, you're just terrified of what people might be saying," he explained. "And then two days go by and people move on. You're like, 'If I had just not ever been made aware about this, I wouldn't have been stressed for two or three days. And that's what keeps me off."

So instead of engaging with the online noise, Natalie and Nick are focusing on their personal joys—such as their daughter River, whom they welcomed in February.

And as the couple celebrated their first Father's Day as parents, Natalie took a moment to celebrate the joys of watching Nick navigate fatherhood.

"I truly envy the relationship you and River have and it brings tears to my eyes knowing she gets to grow up having you in her corner," the 25-year-old captioned her June 16 post. "Her face LIGHTS up the second you walk in the room and the biggest smile comes across her face. You were born to be a dad! And a husband! And I'm so glad you're ours!!!!"

Though they left BIP season seven hand-in-Neil-Lane-diamond-free-hand, Danielle Maltby, who lost her fiancé to a drug overdose years before she competed on Nick Viall's season, and single dad Michael Allio (he shares 7-year-old son James with his late wife) seemed slated for Bachelor Nation couple goals status.

But a year after Maltby relocated from Nashville to be with Allio in Ohio, he confirmed they'd split. Viewers fully got onboard with Maurissa Gunn and Riley Christian's vision of a future filled with sweet Sunday mornings. But ultimately the BIP season seven duo only got a couple dozen weekends together.

"About to enter our Chip and Joanna Gaines era because your girl bought her very first house!!!" Abigail wrote on Instagram in July 2023. "Excited to start our next chapter and for all the memories we'll create here!!" Starting with a few wedding plans. Ahead of their move, Noah proposed at a beachfront San Diego home in August 2023.

Serena Pitt & Joe Amabile

Never hurts to have a little practice run. While planning their September 2023 vows, Serena Pitt (a finalist on Matt James' season) and Joe Amabile (the Chicago grocery store owner who found fame after Becca Kufrin sent him home night one in 2018) decided to just do the damn thing at City Hall near their New York City digs, roughly one year after leaving Paradise engaged.

"JUST MARRIED !!" Serena, now hosting the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast with her husband, captioned the October 2022 video. "We are still having a wedding this September but who doesn't want to get married twice!"

Kenny Braasch & Mari Pepin

Status: Married

"Mari, I am f--king so in love with you," boy band manager Kenny Braasch said as he slipped that Neil Lane diamond onto Mari Pepin's finger on the 2021 Paradise finale. "And I literally, like, I can't see my life without you."

So the Maryland beauty queen, who initially charmed Bachelor Matt, moved to Kenny's native Chicago and set about planning their forever. And before she and Kenny (eliminated by Tayshia Adams in week five) wed in a 65-guest oceanfront ceremony in Puerto Rico Nov. 11, they made their love permanent, getting inked with matching tattoos during a May trip to the Bahamas.

Becca Kufrin & Thomas Jacobs

Status: Married

Former Bachelorette Becca and Thomas Jacobs (one of Katie Thurston's suitors) got together on Bachelor in Paradise season seven in 2021, broke up on the show, then reconciled after production wrapped.

In May 2022, they announced they were engaged, and that Becca proposed. "I hope that other people can now feel empowered and say it's okay to bend the rules," she told E! News. The real estate agent returned the favor that October. In September 2023, the two welcomed their first child, son Benson. Wrote Becca on Instagram, "No amount of words can begin to capture the amount of love and awe we have over this tiny man."

Though she's awfully fond of her 6-foot-6 guy as well. Weeks after bringing home Benson, the pair wed in a spontan eous Oct. 13 ceremony.

Katie Thurston & Blake Moynes

Status: Split

On The Bachelorette's season 17 finale in 2021, Katie got engaged to Blake Moynes. The pair first declared their love for one another during their overnight date, which involved a paintball excursion, a cowboy tub and a conversation under the stars.

Getting down on one knee, Blake told Katie, "You deserve the world, and I'm excited to support you and be there for you every day moving forward."

Three months after the proposal aired, the couple announced their split. They explained in matching statements, "We are so grateful for the moments we shared together and the entire journey that has unfolded this year, but we ultimately have concluded that we are not compatible as life partners, and it is the most caring choice for both of us to move forward independently."

Rachael Kirkconnell & Matt James

In the years since Matt and graphic designer Rachael Kirkconnell left his 2021 season together (then briefly split and eventually reunited), they've faced many a breakup rumor. But, yes, they're still sweet on each other.

"I think everybody needs to take a break from social media," he exclusively told E! News at a July 18 Baskin-Robbins event. "Our lives are lived so much in front of our phones that when anybody steps out of being on their phone 24/7, people think it's the end of the world."

Marriage remains the end-game for the L.A.-based pair. "I think the good thing about our relationship is we go at our own pace," the First Impressions: Off Screen Conversations With a Bachelor on Race, Family, and Forgiveness author told E! News in 2022. "And you've seen with other couples—they force the engagement and they're not together anymore. So, I think what we got is a working recipe and we're gonna get there."

After stepping in to complete Clare Crawley's 2020 season of The Bachelorette, Tayshia met and fell in love with Zac Clark. Though they left her season engaged, the former Bachelorette lead-turned-co-host later revealed that their relationship had some ups and downs.

"It's hard to be in a new relationship and then kind of go away for a couple of weeks, you know what I mean? And this is me being real and honest," she said on The Ben and Ashley I. Almost Famous podcast in August 2021.

In the 1980s and 1990s, the Queen of Pop was an island unto herself. During the 2000s, Madonna became much more open to working with other stars. That decade saw her collaborating with fellow icons such as Justin Timberlake, Kanye West, Timbaland, and Pharrell Williams. One of her most beloved collaborations from that time was "Me Against the Music," a duet with Spears. The song is remembered for a high-octane music video that shows the two superstars showing off their incredible dance moves.

In her 2023 memoir The Woman in Me, Spears discussed working with Madonna on the music video for  "Me Against the Music." "During our shoot together, I was in awe of the ways Madonna would not compromise her vision," she recalled. "She kept the focus on her. Going along with Madonna's ideas and being on her time for days was what it meant to collaborate with her."

What Madonna taught the younger star

Spears recalled what the Material Girl taught her by example.  "It was an important lesson for me, one that would take a long time for me to absorb: she demanded power, and so she got power," the "Womanizer" singer said. "She was the center of attention because she made that the condition of her showing up anywhere. She made that life for herself. I hoped I could find ways to do that while preserving the parts of my nice-girl identity that I wanted to keep."

The "I Wanna Go" star had a positive view of the music she put out during that era. "I was happy with my new album, In the Zone," she remembered. "'Me Against the Music,' featuring Madonna, was the first single off the album. The next single was 'Toxic,' for which I won a Grammy Award. 'Toxic' was innovative as well as a massive success, and is still one of my favorites to perform."

What Britney Spears thought of the Queen of Pop as an artist and as a person

Spears' admiration of Madonna extends beyond "Me Against the Music." In a 2010 Rolling Stone article, she said Madonna was the first female pop star to have total control over her career. Spears also opined that Madonna tracks like "Holiday" and "Live to Tell" are timeless. That's debatable, as both of those songs are unmistakably from the 1980s, but they are incredible.

Spears went so far as to say she would rather spend time with Madonna than the President of the United States. At the time, the President of the United States was Barack Obama. Spears' statement was provocative, to say the least! While Spears acknowledged that Madonna is a dive, she said the Material Girl is also very kind. She also highlighted the influence that the Queen of Pop has had on many younger artists. It's easy to see her impact on many female pop stars and rappers who are prominent today.

"Me Against the Music" is a great song and it taught Spears a lesson.

Britney Spears showed off her fit physique in a stylish outfit as she flaunted her dance skills in a new Instagram video uploaded on Saturday.

The Baby One More Time songstress, 42 - who recently claimed the 'last time she danced' was during her bizarre knives clip - could be seen grooving to music inside what appeared to be a spacious studio.

The star donned a colorful, floral cropped top as well as a pair of black, micro shorts and black, heeled boots.

Her blonde locks were pulled back into a simple ponytail, allowing her side bangs to gently fall onto her forehead.

Throughout the duration of the reel, the track titled, Mi Gente, by J Balvin and Willy William played in the background. 

In the caption of the post, the Toxic songstress simply added an assortment of pink flower emojis t o her fans. 

Britney's latest video comes just two days after she uploaded a previous dance reel and claimed that she hadn't danced since her bizarre knives clip. 

Last year in September, the pop star notably shared a video to Instagram as she grooved along to a tune with knives in her hands.   

The post sparked concern amongst fans and the performer soon received a welfare check from police - which Spears later called a 'joke' due to dancing with 'fake' knives.  

In Thursday's reel, she also danced to Mi Gente while sporting a plunging, black cropped top as well as matching shorts and vibrant, red boots. 

Britney penned in the caption, 'I haven't danced in so long … the last time I danced I was dancing with knives … people say I shouldn't post those!!!' 

'It's been 9 months since I have danced but I did last night … It's not very good but I did it!!!' 

The star donned a colorful, floral cropped top as well as a pair of black, micro shorts and black, heeled boots

The star was seen arriving to Van Nuys Airport wearing a fitted, coral minidress that contained a hem that stopped inches above her knees. 

Spears added a sun hat on top of her head, while also carrying a white sweater and a stylish purse that were draped over her left arm.

The insider explained that Spears has already flown to Hawaii to visit her teenage sons - who moved to the state last year with their father Kevin Federline, his wife of 10 years, Victoria Prince, and their two daughters. 

The songstress and Kevin tied the knot in 2004 - but their divorce was finalized three years later in 2007.

'The good thing is that the boys saw their mom was doing well and have a desire to speak with her,' the attorney added. 

'There has been some telephonic communication between Britney and her sons, and we think that is a step in the right direction.'

In Spears' 2023 memoir The Woman in Me, Spears recalled the creation of her album In the Zone. The "… Baby One More Time" singer said her label wanted to release another song like the track "I'm a Slave 4 U" from her previous album as a single. They were uninterested in the track "Me Against the Music," an R&B/hip-hop hybrid that was characteristic of much of her mid-2000s output.  On the other hand, Spears loved it, and she came up with an idea to make it appealing to her label.

"'Then what if we do a feature on it?' I said," Spears wrote. "A song can become a massive hit because of the event that drives it. I thought if we could find someone to be on the song, we could create a story around it. 'Who do you want to feature?' my manager asked. 'Her!' I said, pointing across the room at Madonna. 'Let's get her on the song.' 'Holy s***,' he said. 'Yeah — that'd work.'"

The "Womanizer" star explained how she brought the song to Madonna. "Instead of asking through her team, we agreed that I would ask her directly," she said. "So I went over to Madonna. 'Let's talk,' I said. 

"I told her how much fun it would be to do the song with me and how I thought we could help each other: it was something that would benefit us both," she added. "She agreed. 'Me Against the Music' is still one of my favorite songs, and the collaboration with her is part of what makes it so memorable."

"Cry Me a River" is a song about infidelity. In the song's music video, we see a Spears doppelganger. The message is not subtle. Timberlake was accusing Spears of cheating on him during their much-publicized relationship. In her 2023 book The Woman in Me, the "Oops!… I Did It Again" star explained her thoughts about the clip.

Interestingly, Eminem also attacked Spears again and again in his music.

"Cry Me a River" reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, staying on the chart for 20 weeks. The tune became the most beloved track from Timberlake's solo debut: Justified. That record reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200, lasting on the chart for 84 weeks. Besides FutureSex/LoveSounds, Justified is Timberlake's most important album.

In a statement shared with PEOPLE, Spears' ex-husband Kevin Federline's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan says that while Spears and her sons Sean Preston, 18, and Jayden James, 17, spoke on the phone around Mother's Day, the singer, 42, has not yet met with her sons in person since they moved with their dad to Hawaii.

"Obviously a reconciliation/reunification is somewhat complex and can be a process that takes some time," Kaplan tells PEOPLE. "And while Kevin supports the boys having a relationship with their mother and is glad that the boys did finally have a phone conversation with her around Mother's Day, the reports that she flew to Hawaii and met with them are inaccurate. That's just not true."

"And the phone call was a good sign and a step in the right direction, but it's a process that takes more than just a phone call to accomplish."

In a September 2022 interview with The Daily Mail, Spears' son Jayden discussed his and his brother's mixed feelings about their relationship with their mom.

Noting that their relationship remains complicated, Jayden said, "I 100 percent think this can be fixed."

"It's just going to take a lot of time and effort. I just want her to get better mentally," he continued. "When she gets better I really want to see her again."

Speaking directly to his mom, Jayden said, "I love you a lot, I hope for the best for you. Maybe one day we can sit down like this and talk again."

Spears' sons moved to Hawaii in 2023 with their dad, his wife Victoria Prince, and their two children — Peyton, 10, and Jordan, 12. At the time, Federline cited additional professional opportunities for himself as a result of the move and a job offer for Prince from a Hawaiian university.

In May 2023, Kaplan told PEOPLE that Spears had "consented" to her kids moving to Hawaii with their father.

Britney, 42, is thrilled to be mending fences with her estranged sons at long last, too.

"Her boys are very happy that Bryan is back on the scene," an insider exclusively tells Life & Style. "He's already had such a positive influence on her, even if it is one day at a time as far as her recovery and stability goes. Just the fact that they're now talking to her again shows the progress she's made and is a huge step."

The source continued, "They won't like that she's gone and blabbed about it on Instagram, but she just couldn't help it. She's so incredibly happy. Everyone is trying to get her to manage her expectations a little bit because in true Britney fashion she's going from zero to a hundred and talking about all the things she wants to do with them, the trips she wants to take with them, the gifts she wants to send."

The insider reveals that the "Baby One More Time" songstress has even contemplated uprooting her life in Los Angeles to head to Hawaii to be closer to Sean, 18, and Jayden, 17. However, that might not be the best move considering Britney's past troubles with the boys.

"If they agreed to it, she'd move to Hawaii in a heartbeat to be close to them. But that kind of over-the-top behavior is only going to put them off," the source explains. "What she needs to do is take it slow and steady if she's going to truly earn their trust back. Luckily, Bryan is there to guide her, and she is listening to him. But it's very hard for her not to get super excited because she's so overjoyed to be in contact with them again."

However, TMZ reported on Wednesday, June 26, that sources close to the situation say Brit and her boys haven't come close to reconciling. Instead, the insider claimed that the "Toxic" artist has only spoken to Sean and Jayden once on Mother's Day and that they haven't seen their mom for almost three years.

Britney Spears Happy to Be Mending Relationship With Sons

"Years of aberrant behavior and troubling conduct can't be easily erased," a separate source told the outlet. "There's no evidence things have gotten better."

The "Slave 4 U" songstress has had a tenuous relationship with both of her sons over the past couple years after their father and Britney's ex-husband Kevin Federline revealed that Jayden and Sean had some major issues with her posting nude selfies on social media.

"I try to explain to them, 'Look, maybe that's just another way she tries to express herself.' But that doesn't take away from the fact of what it does to them. It's tough," Kevin, 46, told The Daily Mail in 2022. "I can't imagine how it feels to be a teenager having to go to high school."

The former backup dancer also revealed that it was Sean and Jayden's "decision" to not see their mother and neither of them attended her 2022 wedding to estranged husband Sam Asghari. However, Britney took issue with Kevin's claims and clapped back at her ex in a since-deleted Instagram post.

"It's hard for me to let go of things I truly love … like my kids," the Crossroads star wrote via Instagram on August 10, 2022. "I looked forward to seeing my kids every week … it was 2 days a week but I asked him to ask to stay for more days … maybe 3 days … but then the next week they stayed for only one day. Yeah, I know that teenagers are just hard to deal with at that age … but COME ON, there's being rude then there's being HATEFUL. They would visit me, walk in the door, go straight to their room and lock the door !!!"

She smiled in the clip, holding the dress down over her butt, walking toward the camera, and tossing her hair over one shoulder.

Text over the clip read, "The night before the paps got THAT SHOT of me going to my car !!! Same dress and same girl !!! Look I get it I know my body is not perfect but I also know I don't have cellulite on my legs the way the paps betray me !!!"

Britney Spears' conservatorship timeline

In September 2021, Britney's case returned to a Los Angeles courtroom where Judge Brenda Penny made a number of bombshell rulings, following her father's decision to end the conservatorship the month prior.

She ruled to rid Jamie of his daughter's conservatorship, however, it did not mean the end of the conservatorship altogether.

Speaking in court, Judge Brenda Penny said: "Based on what I read in the filings, and I read everything. I do believe the suspension of Jamie Spears is in the best interest of Britney Spears.

"The current situation is unattainable. The court finds the toxic environment Jamie Spears has created needs to be removed today."

Following the judge's decision, a temporary conservator was put in Jamie's place for about a month.

In early November 2021, Jamie was back in court filing new legal documents that show he's done fighting.

Jamie had previously demanded $2 million in exchange for stepping down but documents at the time showed that he was not seeking any further compensation.

On November 12, Judge Penny ruled in favor of the pop star, removing Jamie from the position of conservator without requiring any further mental examination from Britney.

She deleted the post shortly after it was shared.

Britney has been outspoken on social media as of late.

On June 21, she took a subtle dig at Justin Timberlake, 43.

Following news of his arrest, the award-winning singer shared a clip of herself dancing in a cheetah-print bathing suit.

She was in a hotel room in Las Vegas, Nevada at the time.

The bathing suit was low-cut, reaching down to her mid-stomach.

Britney paired the outfit with knee-high black boots and a small black string bikini top underneath.

In the video, which has since been deleted, she ran her hands down her torso and smiled.

She put her arms out in front of her and reached to the sides.

The musician then dipped down low, swaying her hips back and forth.

Britney ran her hand through her hair before tossing it in a circle.

She ended it by moving her hips and arms in different directions.

"I have no idea what's going on with the hair, but obviously the 'Something About Mary' hair is a hit," she wrote, referencing a popular Cameron Diaz film.

Cameron, 51, starred as Mary Jensen in the 1998 rom-com, Something About Mary.

"I haven't danced around in a long time, so I was just playing around in my cheetah bathing suit," she added.

Cameron dated Justin in 2003, months after he and Britney broke up.

They split in 2007, after rumors emerged that Justin was cheating with Playboy Bunny Zeo Gregory.

Fans seemed to believe Britney's caption was her way of taking a swipe at Justin.

The N'Sync front man was arrested in Sag Harbor, New York for DWI.

He was released without bail on his own recognizance June 18.

Justin was charged with one count of DWI because he refused to take a breathalyzer test his criminal defense lawyer, Ed Burke, revealed.

The singer was driving a 2025 BMW UT.

He allegedly ran a stop sign and swerved into the opposite lane.

Cops said that Justin's breath smelled of alcohol and said that he had glassy eyes, slow speech, was unsteady on his feet, and performed poorly on standardized field sobriety tests.

Justin told officers that he only had "one martini" and "followed his friends home."

A witness, however, told The New York Post that he was "wasted" as he drank one of his friend's drinks who went to the bathroom.

Justin is due back in court on July 26.
