23 Years Ago, Britney Spears Made The Visible Thong Her Trademark Look

© Provided by Bustle

Thanks to the likes of Dua Lipa, Bella Hadid, Kim Kardashian, and countless others, the uber-controversial whale tail is back in the zeitgeist and, for better or worse, affixed on the behinds of fashion girlies across the globe. But before these contemporary style queens helped the early aughts exposed-thong look boomerang right back on trend, there was first the OG: Britney Spears.

The princess of pop debuted her first whale tail-style 'fit at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards, where she performed a medley of Rolling Stones' "Satisfaction" and her hit "Oops!... I Did It Again." She wore a bedazzled black suit, white button-down, and a fedora hat à la Michael Jackson, before ripping off the outfit to reveal a whole second look underneath: a glimmering flesh-toned co-ord set.

The saucy set by David Dalrymple mimicked a glimmering birthday suit. It included a crystal-encrusted bra and matching flare pants blinged-out with Swarovski crystals. Adding even more spice to the look, the bottoms were completely sheer, save for the thong-shaped smattering of crystals.

Her ensemble even came equipped with a built-in whale tail, giving the illusion of exposed underwear straps. (One could argue that this sparkly look is the older sibling of Spears' infamous "Toxic" music video outfit.)

Though Spears was by no means the first, nor the lone champion, of the thong-peeking-out-of-your-bottoms aesthetic, she contributed largely to the style's hold on society, especially since she made it her signature style for years after that outing.

The singer took this trend absolutely everywhere — on stage, the red carpet, and even out shopping. There was no occasion the visible thong did not fit. She sported all possible iterations of the Y2K-defining trend, from showing off a whale tail look to more subtle choices, like jeans with cut-outs made to look like straps.

She also experimented with the undies-forward style and brazenly wore a thong outside of her pants in her "I'm A Slave 4 U" music video. It's now one of her most iconic looks of all time.

Let's give credit where credit is due: Britney Spears walked so Dua Lipa could run.

Lily-Rose Depp shuts down claims Britney Spears inspired her character in The Idol

Lily-Rose Depp addressed claims her character in the upcoming HBO series, The Idol, was based on Britney Spears.

The 23-year-old plays Jocelyn, a pop star who is attempting to reclaim her career after suffering a nervous breakdown, which has led some to compare the fictional character to Spears, 41.

And now the daughter of Johnny Depp has clarified that the Oops!…I Did It Again singer didn't inspire her role.

"No, it's not based on anyone in particular… We're definitely not trying to tell anyone else's story, but definitely create one of our own," she told Extra. "This is a fictional character and fictional story."

As for who did inspired her portrayal, Depp said she drew inspiration from many people including Gene Tierney and Sharon Stone.

She continued: "There were a lot of different people that I was inspired by for this role. Some that were pop stars, some that were not.

The actress insisted her character on The Idol wasn't based on Britney Spears (PA Wire)

"I wanted Jocelyn to feel simultaneously like a modern-day pop queen of today but also like somebody that kind of exist ed in her own world and in her own kind of time, so I drew a lot of inspiration from actresses like… Gene Tierney and Sharon Stone and women like that that I find really inspiring."

The series has come under fire from critics who have deemed it "too graphic" since its premiere at Cannes earlier this month.

Despite the backlash, Depp defended the show and insisted that the raunchy nature added to her character's "rawness."

She concluded: "I think the daringness of all of the scenes was something that added to the character's rawness. Also, to my desire to go there and explore the character to the best I could."

Back in March, Rolling Stone reported that directo r Amy Seimetz left the project after Levinson had ramped up the show's nudity, sex and violence to "disturbing" levels.

One of the 11 crew members the outlet spoke to said: "It was like any rape fantasy that any toxic man would have in the show — and then the woman comes back for more because it makes her music better".

Story continues

Two months on the show's creator Sam Levinson defended its gratuitous nudity during a news conference in Cannes last week.

He said: "We live in a very sexualised world, especially in the States, and I think the influence of pornography is really strong in terms of the psyche of, I think, young people in the States.

"We see this in pop music and how it sort of reflects the underbelly of the internet. I think it's very true to what almost every pop star doing these days."

Britney Spears Reportedly Needs To Make A Huge Custody Decision ASAP

null © Fox null

Britney Spears' ex-husband Kevin Federline and his wife Victoria Prince would reportedly like to move alongside the kids later this summer. She was reportedly offered a job in Hawaii and the family would like to settle there, but in order to relocate, given there are underage children involved, they need Spears to sign some paperwork consenting. Or they need to go to court and have a judge sign off. They've apparently been trying to go that first route for awhile now, but as that has happened yet, they've reportedly decided to try another approach.

According to TMZ, the Federline family attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan fired off a letter to Britney Spears' attorney Mathew Rosengart telling him if they don't hear back by Friday, they're going to petition a judge to rule on the matter. They've allegedly asked several times without a timeline involved, but as that hasn't netted any forward progress, they're going with a more formal route. They apparently just need Spears to send over an email saying she's fine with the move, but there's been some kind of hold up.

Spears hasn't spoken a ton about her kids publicly, but there have long been rumors of problems between Britney and her two sons, Sean Preston (17) and Jayden (16). They didn't attend her wedding, and they supposedly haven't seen each other in person in over a year because of some conflicts. That's why The Federline's are reportedly confident a judge would be willing to approve the move regardless, but they were apparently hoping they could avoid the court route and possibly any messiness.

Prince was reportedly offered a job in the sports department of an unnamed Hawaiian university and would like to take it. Apparently the family talked about it and all seemed excited by the prospect. Federline apparently can do some DJing and appearances there. Sean Preston is about to finish up high school and Jayden is reportedly planning to finish up remotely. Rumors are claiming they are all excited about stepping away from Los Angeles and the spotlight, given paparazzi interest in their famous mom. The family is reportedly hoping to move on August 1st.

TMZ claims their sources are saying Spears doesn't have a problem with the move, but she hasn't said that publicly. So, exactly where her head is at is unclear. She's been dealing with a lot lately. A recent documentary dropped a slew of allegations about her mental state and personal life, and she also recently reconnected with her mother for what was, by all accounts, a really healthy and productive meeting. Throw in the question of where her kids are living, and it's a lot. Even if she isn't seeing them on a regular basis, she no doubt has feelings about a potential move given how much distance it would create.

Ultimately, I hope whatever happens is whatever is best for the kids. Through no fault of their own, their parents have been the subject of tabloid fodder for most of their lives. The intensity has quieted down around their dad quite a bit since he got remarried and started living a much quieter life, but if anything the pressure on their mother has only magnified, as she can't even go out to eat without it being a huge story. Hopefully whatever happens here helps lead to them living a life they have more control over.

Britney Spears Shares A Zoomed In Photo Of Her Chest In A Black Bra

Singer Britney Spears has been focusing on the size of her chest in a few different Instagram posts lately.

Just two days ago, the 41-year-old pop star opened up on a throwback photo shoot where she claimed her stylist commented on her "huge" chest.

Now, the "Hold Me Closer" singer is sharing a close-up photo of her chest… and it isn't the first time!

On Sunday night, the "Oops!… I Did It Again" singer took to Instagram to share a close-up photo of her chest in a lacy black bra with a front clasp.

The "Live" symbol can be seen in the upper left corner of the photo. In the caption, Britney wrote, "Reposting a pic I did last year live ⭐️⭐️⭐️ !!!"

During the first week of May, the "Toxic" singer took to Instagram again in a since-deleted post to share what looks like the exact same photograph of her chest. It's not clear why Britney took the post down and decided to share it a few weeks later.

That being said, although the two photos look identical, the "Live" button is missing in the top left corner of the frame. In this post, Britney had attached two pictures: one of her chest and another slide containing a black and white image of a few men playing chess.

In the caption of her deleted post, Britney wrote, "If I clapped my t*ts could I make one POP like a balloon 🎈 on Thursday ??? TICK TOCK TICK TOCK !!! I salute all b*tches today NOT with my middle finger 🖕🏻… just my chest y'all !!!! How do you spell chest … is it chess or chest ???"

She also credited Gerhard Hund for the second photo of the men playing chess. Many fans were concerned with why Britney asked how to spell "chest" when she typed it out herself, but other fans felt that she was potentially speaking it code. Regardless, Britney has never explained what she meant by the post.

On Friday night, the "Gimme More" singer took to Instagram yet again to share a photograph of her standing in the woods for an old photo shoot. This time, she is wearing a lacy white lingerie set and even has a bra strap falling off one of her shoulders. She finished off the look with denim jeans that weren't pulled up high enough to conceal the lacy fringes of her underwear.

In the caption, Britney wrote, "Only shoot I ever did in the woods !!! Way back before I had kids !!! The only thing I remember is my stylist saying 'Uhhhhhhhhhhh !!! Your b**bs Britney … they're huge what happened ???' I said I have no idea 🤷🏼‍♀️ !!!"

It's unclear why the singer suddenly seems to be focused on the size of her chest, but she has also been sharing a few more photos and videos on Instagram lately that feature her moving back and forth in front of the camera in a thong bikini.

Earlier this week, the "Slumber Party" singer took to Instagram again to share a video of her wearing a pink halter top bikini before she turns around to give fans a good look at the back of her animal-print thong bikini with pink drawstrings. Unfortunately, this video was also deleted shortly after she posted it.

However, she revealed that even this video was a throwback. "My a** and Mexico 🇲🇽 on April 6 !!!" she wrote in the caption of the video before it was taken down. Fans aren't sure why Britney keeps sharing old content, but at least things seem to be getting a bit better in her personal life.

Recently, the singer revealed that she and her mother, Lynne Spears, were starting to make amends with one another. Fans can read what Britney had to say about meeting her mother for the first time in three years by clicking here!

How Britney Spears Really Felt About Her Controversial Interview With Diane Swayer

During Britney Spears' interview with Diane Sawyer in 2003, she was brought to tears by Sawyer's questioning. By the late '90's and early 2000s, Spears had become one of the world's top celebrities. Putting out hit after hit, the pop star also included phenomenal dance routines in her performances. She drew the attention of fans and the paparazzi constantly.

Some interviewers have asked celebrities outrageous questions concerning their personal lives, which have caused some stars to walk out of certain interviews. Others have been more patient, with some handling the questions as nicely as they can.

When Spears had an interview with Sawyer in 2003, the singer was hit with several questions that seemed more like accusations. Britney Spears was brought to tears during her 2003 interview with Diane Sawyer.

Some interviewers have taken things too far with certain celebrities. When Diane Sawyer interviewed Britney Spears, the 60 Minutes host didn't seem very interested in an actual interview about Spears' music and how it had grown. Instead, Sawyer seemed more interested in getting the Toxic singer to admit to doing something wrong.

Throughout Sawyer's interview with Spears, the questions were personal, accusing and would most likely put any celebrity on the defense. The singer handled most of the interview well, answering Sawyer's questions with candor. However, the interviewer seemed intent on getting a reaction from Spears.

According to Insider, Sawyer commented, "You've had a year that would test a lot of people. Illness in the family, a break-up, this spasm of publicity about what happened in- from Mexico to London." As Sawyer listed those off during the interview, Spears seemed uncomfortable and quiet.

When Sawyer finished, the I'm a Slave 4 U singer responded, "It was pretty rough, yeah. Um, yeah it was kinda weird." At this point, it's noticeable that Spears feels the tears begin to come, she begins trying to distract herself, and keeps smiling, but this doesn't help.

She tries to stop the tears but soon breaks down, unable to stop herself from crying. She can just barely get the words out, "I'm embarrassed. Can we stop?" while tears stream down her face and she covers it up with both hands.

What Were Some Of The Worst Moments From The Interview? instar52125500 © Provided by TheThings instar52125500

Diane Sawyer's interview with Britney Spears is littered with questions that seemed designed to get a response from the singer. There are some interviewers who seem to ask certain questions in order to get a reaction, or possibly make a celebrity uncomfortable. Sawyer's questions seemed like accusations.

At one point, Sawyer held up pictures the Sometimes singer had done for magazine covers, asking, "What happened to your clothes?" It seemed the Nightline host was trying to make Spears feel ashamed for participating in revealing photo shoots, even though many other celebrities had done it as well.

Sawyer also appeared to defend then-Govenor of Maryland's wife, Kendel Ehrlich's death threat against the pop princess. According to CBSNews, Ehrlich said, "Really, if I had the opportunity to shoot Britney, I think I would." Spears seemed shocked when she learned that someone possibly wanted to kill her, stating it was "horrible".

Sawyer defended the answer, stating it was "because of the example for kids, and how hard it is to be a parent and keep all of this away from your kids."

Hitting Spears with question after uncomfortable question, Sawyer also asked what her parents thought about her outfits and performances. She also asked Spears about partying, and if shopping was an addiction.

When Spears and Justin Timberlake's relationship ended, the blame seemed to land almost entirely with Spears. When Sawyer brought the topic up, she said, "He had gone on TV and implied it was your (Britney's) fault. So what did you do?"

Perhaps a better question would have been, "So is it true?", or "So what happened?", or even, "What's your side of things?" Instead, Sawyer assumes the position of many others, that Spears was in the wrong, instead of bothering to ask about her side of events.

After Years Of Silence, Britney Spears Has Spoken Out About The Interview

The media circus that surrounded Britney Spears for years before she was out of the public's view and kept under a conservatorship was overdone and chaotic. Those who remember it, or who've seen clips, will have seen the pop star surrounded by photographers shoving cameras in her face.

Although some members of the paparazzi hound celebrities and interviewers ask outrageous questions, the Circus singer was under a microscope, with every move watched and analyzed. Years after Spears had to sit through the interview with Diane Sawyer, Spears has addressed the woman she feels helped do her harm.

According to the AV Club, in an Instagram post that Spears published, the Everytime singer wrote, "Do we dare forget the Diane Sawyer interview in my apartment almost 20 years ago? What was it with the 'you're' in the wrong approach? Geeze... and making me cry?? Seriously though... I lived in my apartment for a year and never spoke to anyone..."

Spears added, "My manager put that woman in my home and made me talk to her on national television. She asked me if I had a shopping problem!!! When did I have a problem with shopping??"

While Diane Sawyer's interview with the Boys singer is the most infamous, there are several interviewers who crossed the line with Spears who owe her an apology, including Sawyer. Both as journalists and human beings, they should have known better.

Britney Spears and her mom, Lynne Spears, may have officially patched up their relationship after three years of issues.

The mother and daughter's strained relationship came due to the involuntary conservatorship that Britney was in under the guidance of her father, Jamie Spears, and management.

However, that 13-year conservatorship was officially terminated in November 2021, giving Britney newfound freedom in her personal and financial life.

Once the conservatorship ended, she married the love of her life, Sam Asghari, in a small ceremony without her kids or mother at the wedding.

However, Britney recently indicated that "time heals all wounds," including those that may have occurred in her relationship with her mother, Lynne.

The singer shared that her "sweet mama" showed up at her doorstep, and Britney got a chance to open up about things she'd wanted to express to her mom for a while.

Britney Spears says she feels blessed to reconcile with her mother

On Friday, Spears took to Instagram to share a throwback photo (below), of herself wearing a ballet or pageant outfit as a child. The singer also wrote a caption providing an update on the reconciliation between herself and her mother.

In the caption, she mentions her "sweet mama" showing up at her doorstep after three years apart and possibly not communicating with one another.

"with family there's always things that need to be worked out … but time heals all wounds !!!" Britney wrote.

The singer continued, saying she was able to communicate things with her mother that she'd "held in for an extremely long time."

"I feel so blessed we were able to try to make things RIGHT !!! I love you so much !!!" she wrote.

"Psss… I'm so blessed we can have coffee together after 14 years !!! Let's go shopping afterwards !!!" Britney said at the end of her message.

Lynne Spears asked Britney to unblock her last year

In August 2022, Lynne Spears shared an Instagram post of herself and her daughter and a heartfelt message expressing her feeling "hopeless" in trying to meet up with Britney and talk to her privately.

Based on Spears' IG caption, she'd flown out to see Britney and made multiple calls to her, but those efforts hadn't worked out.

She mentioned she tried her best all her life to support her daughter in her "dreams and wishes," adding she would never turn her back on her.

In an Instagram post the next month, Britney shared a colorful message saying, "i'm not perfect but i'm me" in cartoonish yellow letters with flowers on a pink background by @jenrichdesigns. In her IG post's caption, she explained why it seemed she had difficulty letting things go involving the strained relationship with family members.

"the real problem to me is that my family to this day honestly have no conscious whatsoever and really believe in their minds they have done nothing wrong at all !!!! They could at least take responsibility for their actions and actually own up to the fact they hurt me," she wrote in part of the caption.

The singer said that a "genuine apology" would give her closure over things, saying it felt like she doesn't have a family who "values or respects" her.

At the time, Britney also said she was working on "getting stronger" and had "LOTS of therapy" as she wrote "3 different versions of her book."

"Here's to a new day," she concluded.

The post received over 171,000 likes and 6,700-plus comments, mostly from friends and fans. However, Lynne Spears commented on the post, asking her daughter to unblock her.

"I am soooo sorry for your pain," she wrote, adding, "I have been sorry for years!"

"I love you so much and miss you! Please unblock me so I can speak to you in person! Britney, deep down you know how much I love and miss you! I apologize for anything and everything that's hurt you!" Lynne wrote to her daughter.

Monsters and Critics previously reported about Lynne attempting to recover legal costs in 2021 to pay for the lawyers she hired in 2019 when she became concerned about her daughter, still under conservatorship.

Reportedly, Lynne filed a petition seeking six figures from Britney's estate. Britney objected to paying the hefty sum, and that petition eventually ended with her mother receiving nothing.

Based on Britney's latest post, things are finally back on track with her and her mom, as they realized that time could heal all wounds, and they can now enjoy some quality mother-daughter time together.

Britney Spears tries to ‘make things right’ with estranged mom

LOS ANGELES — Britney Spears and her mother, Lynne Spears, have reunited and appear to be healing the strained relationship exacerbated by the singer's 13-year conservatorship.

The "Oops!… I Did It Again" and "Hold Me Closer" singer confirmed reports that she and Lynne met at her Los Angeles home late last week and apparently had a heart-to-heart discussion about the 14-year tension between them, which has included allegations of abuse and planting the seed to install the legal arrangement that long controlled the Grammy winner's personal and professional life, as well as her finances.

"My sweet mama showed up at my door step yesterday after 3 years … it's been such a long time," Spears wrote on Instagram. "[W]ith family there's always things that need to be worked out … but time heals all wounds !!!

"And after being able to communicate what I've held in for an extremely long time, I feel so blessed we were able to try to make things RIGHT !!! I love you so much !!!" the 41-year-old continued. "Psss… I'm so blessed we can have coffee together after 14 years !!! Let's go shopping afterwards !!!"

The meeting comes after Spears has publicly accused Lynne of abuse and alleged that it was the former stage mom's suggestion that Spears' father, Jamie, set up the conservatorship in 2008.

Lynne has pushed back against her daughter's past characterizations and publicly asked her to reconcile last summer. (The infamous conservatorship was terminated in November 2021 but their attorneys continue to squabble in court over thousands of dollars in legal fees and other details.)

TMZ reported that Lynne flew Wednesday from Louisiana to L.A. to visit her daughter at home and they reportedly spent two-and-a-half hours chatting while Spears' husband, Sam Asghari, was present.

Asghari, whom Spears married in June 2022, spoke out last week amid rumors that their marriage was troubled and as Fox prepared to air TMZ's  investigative documentary about the conservatorship, "Britney Spears: The Price of Freedom."

"The last thing I want to do is speak on my wife's behalf, I will never do that. I respect her privacy, that's why I don't talk as much," the 29-year-old fitness trainer said (via People). "I found it absolutely disgusting for the people that were in her life at the time when she didn't have a voice, they went and told her story like it was theirs. It was absolutely disgusting."

Sam Asghari Defends Britney Spears Against 'Disgusting' People Using Her as a 'Money-Making Machine'

Sam Asghari is speaking out in defense of wife Britney Spears amid rumors that their marriage is on the rocks.

The actor and fitness trainer, 29, shared a video to his Instagram Story on Sunday slamming the "absolutely disgusting" ways in which people in Spears' inner circle "told her story like it was theirs," an apparent reference to an upcoming TMZ documentary on the pop star's controversial conservatorship.

"The last thing I want to do is speak on my wife's behalf, I will never do that. I respect her privacy, that's why I don't talk as much," he said. "I found it absolutely disgusting for the people that were in her life at the time when she didn't have a voice, they went and told her story like it was theirs. It was absolutely disgusting."

He continued: "How are you gonna take the most influential person of our generation, the princess of pop, America's sweetheart, and put her in prison, where her father tells her what to do, what water to drink, who to see, and use her as a money-making machine and then all of a sudden, after 15 years, when she's free after all [that] gaslighting and all those things that went down, now you're gonna put her under a microscope and tell her story? No. That's also disgusting, so don't do that."

Spears, 41, had her 13-year conservatorship terminated in November 2021, and has since said she was "victimized" by the order. The "Hold Me Closer" singer has regularly used social media to vent her frustrations and air grievances with family members involved in the conservatorship, including her dad Jamie Spears. She has said he forced her to work and spend time in a mental health facility.

Spears' family has long denied her claims, and they have said they only wanted to help.

Asghari — who married the singer in June 2022 — did not directly address a person or outlet in his video plea, though his frustrations appear to be aimed at the upcoming documentary TMZ Investigates: Britney Spears: The Price of Freedom, which is set to air on Fox Monday night.

Meanwhile, Asghari's rep Brandon Cohen shut down speculation in March that the couple's marriage was on the rocks, noting that Asghari was photographed without his wedding ring because he was filming a movie.

Asghari has previously defended his wife on social media, and in December, spoke out after Spears drew backlash for posting nude photos of herself on Instagram.

"The only person in the world that gets bullied for posting things like this," he wrote in a comment shared to his Instagram Story. "I personally preferred she never posted these but who am I to control someone that's been under a microscope and been controlled for most of her life."

A source recently told PEOPLE that Spears is still adjusting to life post-conservatorship, a stretch that has included both highs (a No. 1 song, a multi-million dollar book deal) and lows (a stalled intervention in February).

"She had been under lock and key for 13 years. Have there been ups and downs? Yes," the insider told PEOPLE. "But some of the amazing things she's done recently have all been her choice. She is a survivor. Despite whatever ups and downs she's going through, she remains a survivor."

Britney Spears And Her Mom Met Up For First Time In 3 Years After Their Incredibly Messy Feud Over The Conservatorship

In the past year and a half since these reports circulated, Britney has been somewhat focused on rebuilding her life post-conservatorship. Britney Spears Reflects On The Reaction To Old Photoshoot: ‘They’re Huge. What Happened?’

null © Jive/RCA Records null

Britney Spears has reflected plenty on her career since the conservatorship ended and she started posting more regularly on social media. Many of those reflections have been about issues she had with her Las Vegas residency or times she felt she didn't have control over her career, but now and again, she's opened up about random stories and old memories that are a little lighter in tone. That was the case yesterday when she threw it all the way back to a photoshoot from the early 2000s that had everyone talking.

The pictures in question were taken by Mark Seliger, and they caused quite a stir among fans at the time as the pop star looked bustier than she had in the past. Well, it turns out those on set felt the same way. Apparently Britney Spears' stylist asked her why her boobs looked so huge and she said she had no idea. You can check out the image and the singer's reflection on that day below…

Spears is always in the news about something, but the last few weeks have been particularly chaotic for the pop legend. She was the subject of a documentary from Fox/ TMZ about her life post-conservatorship, and that led to a ton of allegations swirling about a variety of issues. From her marriage to her sleeping habits to an alleged fixation with knives, the rumors were popping up on a near daily basis. Then, just as things started to quiet down, the singer reconnected with her mother in person for the first time in years.

The meeting, which happened last week, went great according to Spears herself. The two ladies reportedly spent about thirty minutes together, and the singer said a lot of things she's wanted to say for awhile. Britney later hit up social media to talk about what a good experience it was. Many fans think they'll continue hanging out and start growing closer again, but we'll just have to see how that relationship develops and whether the pop star lets fans in again on what's going on.

Regardless, it's nice to see Spears seemingly in such good spirits. Her social media posts over the last few days have been a lot more fun, as she's dropped a throwback picture from childhood along with a post about reconnecting with her mom, a picture of some shoes she wants to buy, an Ernest Hemingway quote, a book recommendation and the above reflection on her boobs looking unexpectedly large during an old photoshoot. If that's not a fun social media mix, I don't know what it.

Is Britney Spears hinting at rumors about breast implant surgery with a throwback photo? Find out

Britney Spears might have hinted at the popular rumor about her undergoing plastic surgery in her recent Instagram post.

If you were unaware, the 41-year-old pop icon made headlines shortly after her debut in the nineties due to speculation that she got a breast implant surgery done. And now, it looks like the Toxic singer has addressed the same in her new Instagram post. Scroll below to take a look.

Did Britney Spears undergo plastic surgery during the beginning of her career?

It was rumored that Britney Spears had gotten a breast implant surgery done shortly after she arrived at the scene in the '90s. While the singer never confirmed or denied the idea back then, Britney did allude to the speculation in her recent Instagram post.

The Oops!... I Did It Again singer shared a black and white throwback photo on her Instagram space. In the picture, Britney can be seen donning a bralette along with a pair of denim pants. Her hair was left open and she accessorized her look with a choker. She wrote a caption explaining the picture.

"Only shoot I ever did in the woods !!! Way back before I had kids !!! The only thing I remember is my stylist saying "Uhhhhhhhhhhh !!! Your boobs Britney … they're huge what happened ???" I said I have no idea!!!"

Old Britney Spears Interview Reveals Some Juicy Details About Old Christina Aguilera Rumors

© Provided by ReelRundown

There is something to be said for the days before the internet was as big a thing as it is nowadays. It seems like now whenever you turn around there is some sort of celebrity drama or an altercation between paparazzi and some entertainer or another that pops up on your newsfeed - all driven by the insane need to have bigger and 'harder' stories for the masses to consume.

Not that older interviews don't have this occasionally as well, with the interviewers going for shock factor above most things, they just didn't seem quite as blatant about it, as you can see in this old Britney Spears interview shared by creator Courtney Shane!

In this older, somewhat grainy clip, you can see one interviewer sitting in front of a much younger Britney Spears and they have obviously gone through a couple of topics by that point before the name Christina Aguilera came up.

Now, in case you didn't know, there was a lot of 'beef' between the two pop mega-icons, with many comparing it to the rivalry between the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC. The two occupied an extremely similar song space, with only a few 'minor' differences to help separate the two: namely, Britney being a little bit more of the 'innocent' and poppy one, while Christina had somewhat harsher edges and a bit more sexuality.

The two were obviously compared time and time again and the paparazzi at the time LOVED to stir up, or even create, as much drama and controversy between the two as they could. Why? Because it sold, obviously.

But in this clip there is a lot less of that drama, and a lot more of something else rather interesting. When asked about a recent sighting of the two of them at a nightclub and what went down between them, Britney hilariously recalls the fact that -no- there wasn't any fighting, but Christina DID wind up sticking her tongue down her throat. Probably not exactly what the interviewer was expecting or going for, but hilarious nevertheless.

It does sort of make you wonder how overblown the whole 'rivalry' was, because I don't know about you but I didn't go around making out with MY enemies... Or maybe I should have? Who knows.

Britney Spears Focuses On Her Chest Size In Throwback Photo Shoot

Singer Britney Spears is reflecting on a photo shoot that she did in the woods with Mark Seliger many years ago.

She revealed that it was the only photo shoot that she did in the woods, but that wasn't the only thing that the 41-year-old pop star had to say about the photo.

The "Hold Me Closer" singer revealed a fun fact about the photograph she shared on Friday night, revealing that her stylist asked her "what happened" to her chest because, apparently, it got bigger!

On Friday night, the "Toxic" singer took to Instagram to share a single snap of her standing in the woods wearing jeans and a lacy white bra. She is smiling as she turns back to face the camera, her long blonde bangs framing her face.

It seems that the pop star is feeling in a reflective mood lately, as she recently met with her mother, Lynne Spears, for the first time in years. She broke her silence on Instagram with an even older throwback photo to mark the occasion.

On Thursday night, the "Oops!… I Did It Again" singer shared a photo of her as a young girl wearing a pink dress as she practiced her routine in her living room. It might have been a photo that Lynne brought to Britney's attention when the two met for the first time in years.

In the caption of this Instagram post, Britney wrote, My sweet mama showed up at my door step yesterday after 3 years … it's been such a long time … with family there's always things that need to be worked out … but time heals all wounds !!!"

Fans know how much Britney loves coffee, since she wasn't allowed to have it during her conservatorship, which lasted from February 2008 to November 2021, when it was struck down by a judge in a California court.

Lynne Spears Tells Her Daughter That She 'Never and Will Never' Turn Her Back On Her

On August 28, 2022, though, she did take to Instagram to make a public plea only days after Britney posted a 22-minute video on YouTube alleging that her family used her like a "machine" during her conservatorship.

"Britney, your whole life I have tried my best to support your dreams and wishes! And also, I have tried my best to help you out of hardships! I have never and will never turn my back on you!" she wrote in the caption. "Your rejections to the countless times I have flown out and calls make me feel hopeless! I have tried everything. I love you so much, but this talk is for you and me only, eye to eye, in private."

On Friday night, the "Slumber Party" singer reflected on the photo shoot that she had before her sons were born. Earlier this week, it was reported that Kevin Federline was looking to move with her two teenage sons to Hawaii, where his wife, Victoria Prince, reportedly was offered a job at a university in Hawaii.

Since both boys are not yet 18, they do need Britney's permission to make the move, which they want to happen in July. If Britney refuses, they can always go to a judge to grant the order. That being said, the pop star does spend a lot of time vacationing in Hawaii and many fans think that she will agree to the move.

Britney Spears reunites with her mother after three years

Britney Spears has shared that she and her mother Lynne Spears are now on better terms.

The singer posted a throwback photo of herself as a child on her verified Instagram account, writing in the caption, "My sweet mama showed up at my door step yesterday after 3 years … it's been such a long time … with family there's always things that need to be worked out … but time heals all wounds !!!"

"And after being able to communicate what I've held in for an extremely long time, I feel so blessed we were able to try to make things RIGHT !!!," the caption read. "I love [heart emojis] you so much !!!"

Spears added, "Psss… I'm so blessed we can have coffee together after 14 years !!! Let's go shopping afterwards !!!"

She and her mother have reportedly been estranged, with the younger Spears posting negatively about her mother in the past during the star's struggle to be freed from conservatorship.

Lynne Spears has not commented publicly about the reunion. In August 2022, she issued a plea to her daughter, writing on social media, "Britney, your whole life I have tried my best to support your dreams and wishes! And also, I have tried my best to help you out of hardships!"

"I have never and will never turn my back on you! Your rejections to the countless times I have flown out and calls make me feel hopeless!," Lynne Spears wrote. "I have tried everything. I love you so much, but this talk is for you and me only , eye to eye, in private."

The elder Spears was photographed waiting outside of her daughter's Southern California home on Wednesday.

Britney Spears Claps Back At New Reports That She’s ‘Not Well’: ‘I’m Disgusted’

Britney Spears © Provided by Hollywood Life Britney Spears Britney Spears called out the 'lies' being spread about her and said she's 'quite happy' with her life the way it is.

Britney Spears, 41, shut down the rumors going around about her mental state and insisted that she's doing just fine. The "Criminal" singer shared a statement on Instagram May 24 and called out "sneaky" people who are "creating lies" about her. Britney appeared to be addressing the recent reports that claim she's been having troubles since she was freed from her abusive conservatorship in Nov. 2021.

"I'm a woman who has the right to drive whenever I want to go shopping … whenever I want and I do a damn good job at acknowledging my practice in just being a good person !!!" Britney wrote in her message. "With that said I'm disgusted with the attempts of people saying I'm not well … people are hateful and I have dogs and I'm quite happy with my easy way of living. I take care of myself !!!"

Britney continued to defend herself and said she's "learning to be myself which is awesome." "By no means am I perfect !!!" the pop star and mother-of-two added. "Some days are better than others and I do a good job at keeping it together !!! No I don't show myself crying and weeping on my bad days because frankly it's none of anybody's business !!! You all have private homes with private doors with private issues … that's why it's called private !!! I believe in taking my vulnerable moments to myself … Why would I ever share that with a world and media who hurt me deeply at one point in my life … No thank you !!!"

The Crossroads star noted that she has "an amazing therapist and friends whom I adore." She told her haters to stop with their "negativity," and randomly mentioned how Miley Cyrus smoked a blunt at the 2013 EMAs. "What would people do if I smoked a blunt after the EMAs like Cyrus who I have mad respect for ???" Britney wrote. "I honestly hope you mean people kiss my ass !!!" Britney did not mention her husband, Sam Asghari, as one of her supporters in her post.

Britney's well-being has been a hot topic ever since she was freed from the conservatorship, mostly because of her bizarre behavior on Instagram. Britney's husband, who she married in June 2022, recently came to her defense on Instagram, following the release of a TMZ documentary about her alleged troubled life. Sam, 29, slammed the "disgusting" false stories about his wife and told everyone that they shouldn't "believe what you read online" about Britney.

Britney is allegedly planning to tell her story, on her terms, in her long-awaited memoir, which will reportedly be available in the fall, according to a report from Page Six. A source told the outlet that Britney's book will be about her "triumph" and "survival."

‘We’re a new age travelling circus’: the duo who took Britney Spears to the Yorkshire seaside

When Peter Taylor found himself inside an LA office with 10 minutes to sell Scarborough Open Air theatre to Britney Spears’ agent, the words tripped off his tongue. “It’s like the Hollywood Bowl of Yorkshire,” the then new-to-the-game music promoter offered.

In that room, the best part of a decade ago, Taylor, one half of the gigs, festivals and theatre promoter duo Cuffe & Taylor â€" formed with best friend Daniel Cuffe in 2009 â€" laid the groundwork for Spears’ sold-out 2018 performance at the 8,000-capacity venue. The princess of pop joined a genre-spanning list of megastars from Kylie and Nile Rodgers to Diana Ross, the Beach Boys, Lionel Richie, Stereophonics and, this summer, Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe, to play the British seaside at the pair’s behest.

The hair metal outfits, and a returning Richie, are part of a five-day lineup for this summer’s Lytham festival, which also includes Sting, Blondie and Jamiroquai. The festival is held in the Lancashire seaside town of Lytham St Annes where Cuffe, 36, and Taylor, 42, grew up, met and still live.

Cuffe was studying sound engineering while Taylor was running a hotel on the promenade and dabbling in local theatre when, in 2008, they were separately roped in to help with a charity production of the musical Copacabana at Lytham’s Lowther Pavilion, to save the venue from demolition. “We ended up talking over the headsets and having an absolute ball,” says Cuffe of their first meeting. “There was a lot of slapstick, dry ice and pyrotechnics.”

Then, in 2010, the local council approached Taylor to evaluate tenders for a community event called the Lytham Proms. Priced out by large events firms, Cuffe and Taylor instead offered to take the project on in partnership with the council. They found an orchestra, and a phone number for soprano Lesley Garrett, and secured her as top billing for 4,000 people picnicking on the village green.

“It was a bit of fencing and a stage. We thought: ‘How hard can it be?’” says Taylor now.

“Famous last words,” adds Cuffe. “Turns out it’s ridiculously complicated.”

Taylor remembers: “We had no strategy and no money. We thought you just rang an act up and they’d come and do it. I did the VAT returns and designed posters in Photoshop. Dan drew a site plan and filled out spreadsheets. We built the fences ourselves.”

Their naivety paid off. “We made £10,000,” says Cuffe. “We met the next day and thought: ‘Let’s just do it 10 times again.’”

Taylor gave up the hotel and they signed up for a three-day proms event the following year. They took on staff and paid interns and ran a ticketing office from Cuffe’s mum’s dance and drama school. “Come 4pm there’d be tap dancing above us and singing lessons next door,” says Taylor. They continued hammering the phones for acts. “I think a lot of people just thought they’d better take us under their wing. It 100% could have gone the other way.”

Lionel Richie arrived by helicopter and couldn’t believe people were swimming in the North Sea

And they put all their money into it. Cuffe says: “That year was less financially successful but we’d stacked everything against the company: houses, relationships. I felt like a fraud, like promoters were a bigger thing than we were doing, but this job was outrageous. We’d do it at any cost.”

The pair booked Boyzone, Status Quo and Katherine Jenkins, and sold 10,000 tickets a night. “When we started advertising, people thought they were tribute acts,” Taylor remembers. “A couple of years later we booked Tom Jones. When we went to pay his deposit at the local bank, the cashier didn’t believe us.”

They may not yet have known the business, but they understood the power of live entertainment. “We knew what a good show was because we loved watching them,” says Taylor who, by then, had suspended his own showbiz ambitions having spent his school days moonlighting as H in a Steps tribute band. “There’s no school course on being a music promoter. People get into it through student unions but we didn’t go to university. My parents didn’t even have a car so we’d only see things at Blackpool Opera House. There was one trip to London, though, when I was 12, to see the musical Blood Brothers. We were in the worst seats, at the back, which was all we could afford. I couldn’t believe something on stage could make you feel that way.”

Cuffe’s first gig was Oasis at Cardiff International Arena, aged 11: “I was in awe. They were and still are absolute gods to me. But I was also fascinated by how all of that stuff got there then went to another city the next night â€" the telephone box and Rolls-Royce that were part of the set. I was amazed by the scale of it all.”

On a night like this … Kylie Minogue at Lytham festival in 2019. Photograph: Brad Hamer

By the mid 2010s they had partnered with more venues â€" Wigan’s Haigh Hall and Scarborough â€" but, in hindsight, were still operating on a wing and prayer. Taylor remembers: “Dan went to LA one year and rang around huge agencies saying he was in town. We didn’t have the money to be ‘in town’. He was just on holiday.”

Nonetheless, their experience and ambitions grew. When they were brought under the banner of Live Nation â€" the global gigs mega-outfit â€" in 2017, it opened more doors. They booked Lionel Richie for Scarborough in 2018. “He arrived by helicopter and couldn’t believe people were swimming in the North Sea,” says Taylor. Then Kylie, for Lytham and Scarborough, in 2019. “[In Scarborough] she performed The Locomotion on the seaside train that passes behind the stage.”

The headlines that disparaged northern seaside communities as unlikely stops for music’s big names only helped with marketing. “It was the end-of-the-pier analogy,” says Cuffe. “We had the last laugh. These venues were full and that’s hugely attractive to everybody in the business.”

They had hit on a formula: if you take acts to the provinces, where watching a gig in your back yard is cheaper than travelling to a major city, the buy-in is greater.

Taylor explains: “It became scientific in terms of who we placed where. Even for an enormous artist, dropping in on a provincial show can grow your audience. Two members of the household might see Def Leppard or Mötley Crüe in Manchester but, in Lytham, you take the kids. You get a new generation who might go again. I remember seeing an elderly woman having the time of her life watching Faithless perform here. She’d never in a million years have booked to see them at an arena.”

They run events at six venues now â€" the Piece Hall in Halifax, Cardiff Castle, Chepstow Racecourse, Bedford Concerts, Scarborough and Lytham â€" but their reach extends to arena tours and theatre, nationwide. “We’re basically a new age travelling circus,” says Taylor.

They have endless stories of running through crowds with armfuls of toilet paper to restock loos, acts arriving late, or decorating Mariah Carey’s onstage Christmas tree for her arena tour when the set arrived with moments to spare from Paris â€" “I was literally sticking bows on giant presents so we didn’t have to cancel,” Taylor laughs.

The lows â€" “When it’s 4am, throwing it down, the tent’s leaking and you’re loading in a band in the middle of the night,” says Cuffe â€" are relished alongside the highs. “They say you shouldn’t promote your idol but Peter booked Noel Gallagher to play Lytham in 2016. That’s one half of Oasis playing our festival, in our home town. I’ve subsequently been able to talk to him but I couldn’t even hold a conversation that night.”

This summer, they have 64 outdoor shows and 1,000 nights of theatre. But there’s still a wishlist of acts that they’d love to get to the seaside. “I’m a kid of the 90s,” says Taylor, “I’ve tried to get Take That to our festival more times than I care to remember.”

And Cuffe? “The obvious. Oasis. I’d take them getting back together but it’d be the icing on top, and the cherry, if they played Lytham.”

Lytham festival takes place 28 June to 2 July. More info is available at lythamfestival.com and for info about all events go to cuffeandtaylor.com

After Years Of Conflict, Britney Spears Gushed About Her ‘Sweet Mama’ And A Nice Visit They Just Had

In recent years, Britney Spears hasn't had many nice things to say about her mother, Lynne Spears. "I pray you both burn in hell," she wrote in 2022 of her parents. After Lynne offered an apology shortly after, Britney wrote, "Mom take your apology and go f*ck yourself !!!" Now, though, it appears things are moving in a more positive direction, as Britney and Lynne apparently just enjoyed a loving and productive visit with each other.

Sharing a photo of herself as a kid on Instagram yesterday (May 25), Spears wrote, "My sweet mama showed up at my door step yesterday after 3 years … it's been such a long time … with family there's always things that need to be worked out … but time heals all wounds !!! And after being able to communicate what I've held in for an extremely long time, I feel so blessed we were able to try to make things RIGHT !!! I love [hearts emoji] you so much !!! Psss… I'm so blessed we can have coffee together after 14 years !!! Let's go shopping afterwards !!!"

TMZ reported about the visit before Britney's post, saying that the two got together in person for the "first time in years." Lynne apparently flew from Louisiana to Britney's home in Los Angeles for the meet-up, and they, with Sam Asghari also present, talked for "around 30 minutes." TMZ also noted the two have "been texting recently and Lynne knew the path was clear enough to make the trek from Louisiana to LA."

Sam Asghari goes on hike with wife Britney Spears

Britney Spears and her husband Sam Asghari are "on the rocks", according to reports.

The couple have been married since June last year, but were both recently spotted without their wedding rings on, while Britney then jetted off on holiday without Sam.

Instead, the singer was seen enjoying the sun with her long-time friend and manager, Cade Hudson.

A source has now claimed the couple have been getting into "frequent screaming matches" which they say have sometimes gotten physical.

The source also said Sam "doesn't stay at their home much anymore" after security have "had to step in" to break up their "volatile" arguments.

The source told TMZ that it seems Britney and Sam's marriage is in "deep trouble".

However, Britney and Sam seemed to ignore the claims as they took to Instagram to share a loved-up video of themselves enjoying a hike in the sunshine.

Captioning the post, Sam wrote: "Hike with my woman," adding a heart eye emoji.

The publication is set to air a documentary about the Toxic hitmaker on Fox tonight, in which they also claim Britney had a "fascination with knives".

The superstar is said to have had some recommendations made as she moved away from her conservatorship following its end in 2021.

Reports say that as the conservatorship drew to a close, those looking after Britney "prepared a list of recommendations" with one of them being to "keep knives away from her".

According to the publication, Britney viewed knives as a "means of protection".

The outlet added that Britney has a "constant fear of being re-institutionalised" and that the recommendation was "cautionary".

Britney was in a conservatorship for 13 years, which began in 2008 after she suffered mental health troubles.

It saw her father Jamie Spears take control of her personal and financial affairs before the conservatorship ended in 2021.

Britney is set to share her side of the story in a tell-all memoir.

Last year it was claimed she would release the explosive memoir after securing a "record breaking" $15million (£12million) publishing deal after the end of her conservatorship.

Britney's book is set to touch on her marriage to Sam Asghari, as well as many other topics that she wants to set the record straight about.

Britney Spears Leaves Little To The Imagination In Mexico

Singer Britney Spears is sharing videos from what appears to be her latest vacation in Mexico.

The 41-year-old pop star took to both Instagram and Twitter to share a video that featured her showing off all angles of her backless dress which featured a sparkling sheer top and a long blue skirt.

The "Hold Me Closer" singer took to Instagram on Tuesday night with several different posts, including one that featured her twirling around in front of the mirror in a revealing backless dress.

The top of her dress featured sequins that covered her chest and a long blue skirt that dropped from her core to her upper thighs. She accessorized her look with conservative black heels.

The singer's blonde hair was pulled back out of her face, although she left a few strands free to frame her face. Later in the video, she lets her hair down and flips it around her face. She set the video to Seal's hit song "Crazy" as she captioned the video "Mexico 🇲🇽🤓🤓 !!!"

Britney has only allowed comments on one Instagram post since the start of the new year, and she did not allow comments on this one either. In fact, she did not allow comments on any of the four posts that she shared on Instagram on Tuesday night.

Britney Spears Shares Three Identical Photos With A Different Filter Britney Spears Shares Three Photos In The Same PoseInstagram | Britney Spears

Earlier on in the night, in a different Instagram post, the "Oops!…I Did It Again" singer posted almost three identical photos of her holding her hands in front of her body as she looked into the camera.

She is wearing a pale yellow crop top with puffy sleeves and khaki shorts that are tugged down belong her waist.

Britney is also wearing a statement beaded necklace that ends in a pendant, which many of her fans have seen in other videos where the pop star was also wearing this same outfit.

Her long blonde hair was again tied back out of her face, although she left her bangs free as she looked into the camera. She is again wearing thick black eye make-up, which became more pronounced depending on which filters she used.

In the caption, Britney wrote, "I couldn't decide which one to post so I did all 3 🌸🫦🙄🙄🙄 !!!!!"

Although she doesn't want to turn filters on her post, the singer did get over 30,000 likes in only a few hours, so it seems that fans still love her snaps all the same.

Britney Shares A Video Of Husband Sam Asghari and His Friend

Elsewhere on Tuesday night, the "Toxic" singer shared a video containing her husband, Iranian actor Sam Asghari, and one of their friends. In the caption, she wrote, "Boys say hello !!! I say hiiiiii !!!!"

However, fans may remember that she posted this video to her Instagram Stories last week with a different caption. "My boys are at that awkward age where I haven't been able to shoot them for 4 years … @samasghari is sort of silly about it too," she added, hinting that Sam might be camera shy, despite being an actor. "It was cool to make contact yesterday !!!"

Britney Spears shares video of Sam Asghari and his friendInstagram | Britney Spears

At the time, it looked like Britney's comment about "her boys" came in response to a news report that her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, was looking to take their two teenage sons and move to Hawaii after his current wife, Victoria Prince, got a job offer at one of the universities there.

Last week, K-Fed's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, sent a letter to Britney's lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, asking if she would approve moving the boys from California to Hawaii. Although Jayden James, 16, will finish up his classes remotely, Sean Preston, 17, will have already graduated high school by the time the family plans to move to Hawaii.

If Britney agrees to the move, then it can proceed as scheduled. If she rejects it, then K-Fed can go to a judge and ask them to approve the move. Since the boys have been living with K-Fed full-time and reportedly haven't seen their mother in months, it seems that a judge is likely to approve the move.

Considering how much Britney loves to vacation in Hawaii, fans are thinking she will say yes!
