Britney Spears Is Marrying Herself

Wedding bells are ringing for Britney Spears, but there's only one person in attendance at her latest marriage ceremony. On Oct. 21, the pop star announced she's become her own spouse. "The day I married myself," Spears wrote, sharing a video of herself in a white dress and veil dancing to Sting's "Fields of Gold."

Apparently, the self-love ceremony took place a while back. "Bringing it back because it might seem embarrassing or stupid, but I think it's the most brilliant thing I've ever done," Spears wrote in the caption.

The post comes three months after Spears swore off men in an assertive statement on her Instagram. "I will never be with another man as long as I live !!!," Spears wrote in July after her breakup with her former housekeeper Paul Soliz.

Back in early May, Spears' divorce from ex-husband Sam Asghari was finalized. The two got married in an intimate ceremony in 2022, before announcing their split a year later. Per their divorce filing, the breakup was due to irreconcilable differences. Since then, the exes have not spoken much about one another — Spears' tell-all memoir didn't have any revelations about her time with Asghari, and Asghari ha s skirted around questions about Spears (although he may not be able to avoid them when he enters the reality TV world as part of the cast of The Traitors Season 3).

Spears and Asghari first in 2016 met when he was a performer in her "Slumber Party" music video. Their relationship continued for seven years and included weathering Spears' contentious conservatorship battle in the late 2010s and early 2020s.

Asghari was Spears' third husband. She first married Jason Alexander for only a matter of days back in 2004, then wed Kevin Federline later that year. They divorced in 2007. She has two sons with Federline: 19-year-old Sean and 18-year-old Jayden.

After some non-ideal marriages in the past, it sounds like Spears has finally found the perfect life partner: herself.

Britney Spears Has Friends ‘Worried’ After Marrying Herself: ‘She’s Been Spiraling’

She wasn't exactly a vision in white. On October 20, Britney Spears slipped into a wrinkled, stained satin wedding dress — complete with a lace veil that extended all the way to the floor — and preened for the camera, as Sting's "Fields of Gold" played in the background. "The day I married myself...," she wrote of her brazen decision. "It might seem embarrassing or stupid, but I think it's the most brilliant thing I've ever done !!!"

Others think she's in distress again and needs help. The practice of marrying oneself is commonly known as sologamy, which supporters say can help lead to a happier life. But Britney's behavior lately continues to become increasingly erratic, "and friends and loved ones are worried," a source exclusively tells In Touch. "She was 'freed' from the conservatorship [in 2021], and ever since, she's been spiraling."

Britney, 42, had been chained to the conservatorship since 2008, shortly after she suffered a devastating mental breakdown in front of the world and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Four years earlier, she'd married her first husband, Jason Alexander, 43, in Las Vegas, only to annul the union 55 hours later. That same year, she wed Kevin Federline, 46, with whom she shares sons Sean, 19, and Jayden, 18. Their marriage ended in 2007, and Britney remained single until she married Sam Asghari, 30, in June 2022. They divorced in August 2023.

Most recently, Britney's been dating her former housekeeper Paul Soliz, whose estranged wife, Nicole Mancilla, filed for divorce on October 2. Britney and Paul were first linked in September 2023. They seemingly broke up in July when Britney declared on Instagram she was "single as f--k."

"They're on-off, so who knows where they stand right now," says the source. "But if Britney is throwing her own wedding and marrying herself, they're probably not together at the moment. But that can all change in a heartbeat."

Britney is desperate for her fairy-tale ending, says the source. "She's a hopeless romantic at heart. She even went on her own honeymoon!"

Indeed, days after sharing her bizarre wedding video, Britney was showing off her bikini body alone by the pool in sunny Turks and Caicos. "The fact that she planned her honeymoon and there was no husband... it's just more disturbing behavior on her part," believes the source. "She seems to live in this world of make-believe, and things are getting stranger and stranger. Britney deserves a happy ending — but a fake wedding might not be it."

Britney Spears says she would sleep outside in order to avoid toxic ex-boyfriend

Britney Spears says she slept outside to avoid one of her toxic ex-boyfriends during a vacation to the Turks and Caicos islands as she revealed they would fight all the time and thus she refused to share a bed.

The 42-year-old singer is currently holidaying in the tropics and previously dated Justin Timberlake, Kevin Federline and Sam Asghari, but refused to say who the former partner was as she reflected on the tumultuous relationship.

"I'm honestly not ashamed to say this, but whenever me and my ex would come here, we fought," Spears posted via Instagram. "Not one time did I sleep in bed with him!!!

"I got a pillow and would sleep outside. I like the sound of the fountain outside!!! I wanted to whisper the secrets of the universe...

"I've stayed inside a lot this trip because it's insanely hot!!! But think I might just sleep in the baby courtyard tonight."

The islands which housed a population of 45,700 people as of 2022 and is officially a British Overseas Territory, but whilst there are bad memories associated with former lovers, the singing sensation admitted she loves the getaway location too.

"There's something about this exotic place," Spears added. "No matter how many times I come here, it feels like the first time!!! The way Mother Nature speaks to me!!! Alone!!! Meditation and prayer speaks volumes!!!

"A video I took outside had birds singing and the song was so loud!!! Ok, maybe I just found my soul here!!!

"I will be honest, there's a courtyard with flowers and a small gate and a little koi pond with a stained glass entrance door before you walk in that reminds me of OLD SCHOOL CHURCH!!! Which sometimes has a deeper meaning and feeling!!!"

After being released from her conservatorship at the end of 2021, she went on to marry Asghari following around four years of dating before she further revealed she was pregnant their third child in April 2022.

Spears married her fiancée on June 9, 2022, in Los Angeles without her family present as one of her ex boyfriends tried to break in with a knife, but the marriage didn't last for long as they announced their split on August 16.

Whilst the divorce will only be finalized on December 2, 2024, Spears has already moved on as she began a relationship with Paul Richard Soliz but that has been on and off and the pair currently do not live with each other as per PageSix.com.

Halsey transforms into Britney Spears as she counts down to release of new album The Great Impersonator

She has been adopting the iconic looks of classic singers ahead of the release of her upcoming fifth studio album.

And Halsey revealed one of her most striking transformations to date on Thursday when she made herself into the spitting image of Britney Spears in an Instagram post.

The 30-year-old singer (real name: Ashley Frangipane) appeared in a blue-tinted photo in which they were made up to look like the 42-year-old pop superstar on her hit 2003 album In The Zone.

Like Britney, Halsey â€Â" who uses both she/her and they/them pronouns â€Â" was bathed in steely light, and her face stood out brightly against the shadows on her chest.

The striking image followed her attempts to mimic classic looks from stars including David Bowie, Dolly Parton, Madonna and Bruce Springsteen ahead of the release of her album The Great Impersonator.

Halsey transformed herself into a photo of Britney Spears from her 2003 In The Zone cover in an Instagram post on Thursday. The lookalike shot was promoting her upcoming album The Great Impersonator

Each artist she has transformed into for a post appears to have inspired a particular song on the upcoming LP.

'Day 11 of counting down to The Great Impersonator, October 25th,' Halsey wrote, adding, 'It’s Britney, b****!!!!'

They noted that the photo was in reference to the sixteenth track on the upcoming album, a song titled 'Lu cky.'

She gushed that Britney was 'the first superstar who ever inspired me.'

'There were infinite Britney looks to choose from but I had to do this iconic album!' Halsey added.

In her Britney-inspired photo, Halsey was dressed in a black tank top, which was reminiscent of Britney's shirt in the original photo, though Halsey had several tattoos peaking out that the older pop icon didn't have.

Haley was also elegantly made up to match the original photo, and they wore what was likely a long blond wig that fluttered in the breeze to match Britney's lustrous hair in the original.

Notably, Halsey cropped her new photo so that it matched the original photo for Britney's In The Zone album, rather than the cropped version that was used on the album cover, which hones in on Britney's face in closeup.

In The Zone was a massive hit that debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart, and it received some of the best reviews of her career.

It signaled a more mature turn for her music, and one of its singles, the top 10 hit Toxic, is now regarded as one of her best songs, with Rolling Stone ranking it at the top of her oeuvre and declaring it 'the great pop song of this century' in a 2022 ranking of her songs.

Halsey was more somber earlier on Thursday when she shared a tribute to the late One Direction singer Liam Payne after his death on Wednesday in Buenos Aires, Ar gentina.

'i loved one direction with an all-consuming force when i was younger,' they wrote on Tumblr. 'it hurts deeply to mourn someone you were a massive fan of as teenager, and became a peer of as an adult.'

'i know people change and grief is unsure or complicated when it’s attached to a fond memory or the feeling a person gave you and not tangibly the person themself,' they continued. 'i can see many of you on here are struggling with that right now and i understand.'

Halsey had a direct connection of sorts to her fellow pop star, as she had bought a home Payne previously owned in Calabasas, California, for $10.2 million, according to Architectural Digest.

Halsey admitted that she was worried about the home after hearing rumors that it was haunted.

Halsey has been impersonating iconic singers who inspired different songs on her album in the lead up to its October 25 release

On Thursday she also paid tribute to the late Liam Payne on Tumblr, noting that she had bought a house he previously lived in, which he had assured her was not haunted

'He assured me it was not, and i believed him. because i know the ghosts that haunt us aren’t tethered to buildings. They live in parts of us that are harder to reach and they go wherever we d o,' she wrote.

'as a parent, a fellow artist, and a fan, i simply cannot fathom this untimely loss. my heart goes out to his family, friends, and the fans,' Halsey concluded her post, adding a broken heart emoji.

Payne died after a fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires.

Hotel staff had called emergency services shortly before his death to report 'an aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol' who was 'sm ashing up his room,' according to the local prosecutor's office.

Britney Spears ‘Slept Outside’ After Fights With Ex

Heavy/Getty Britney Spears Reflects On Relationship Turmoil.

Britney Spears, the pop icon known for hits like "Toxic", recently took to her candid Instagram to share some unusual details about her past vacation habits. Currently vacationing in Turks and Caicos, Spears opened up about a tradition of choosing to sleep outdoors on past trips with an ex, rather than share a bed with him.

The revelation gives fans a glimpse into the intimate and complex side of Spears' personal life as she reflects on her relationships and their impact on her well-being.

An Unconventional Preference: Sleeping Under the Stars

Spears shared with her followers that she would often find solace sleeping outdoors after disagreements with her former partner. Accompanied by a video of her dancing in black lingerie, the post revealed that Spears was unafraid of choosing comfort over convention when it came to her living arrangements. This marks one of the several posts Spears has made giving her fans insight to her highly talked about past.

"Not one time did I sleep in [the] bed with him!!! I got a pillow and would sleep outside," Spears wrote. Although she didn't specify which ex-partner she was referencing, fans speculated, considering Spears' well-known past relationships with figures such as her former husband Sam Asghari and ex-boyfriend Paul Soliz, whom she briefly dated following her separation from Asghari.

In the now deleted caption, Spears also shared her reasons for choosing the outdoors. "I like the sound of the fountain outside!!!" she explained. "I wanted to whisper the secrets of the universe." Spears' preference for sleeping outdoors, in part, reflects her inclination toward personal independence, even in the middle of complicated relationships. This Instagram post was not the first time Spears publicly embraced her choices that others might find unusual. Just recently, she shared a video celebrating "the day I married myself," a moment she described as both "brilliant" and empowering.

A Reflection on Life & Self-Discovery

This unusual sleeping arrangement is not the only way the singer has expressed independence and self-reflection in recent years. She just published this text post on Instagram on October 30 telling her audience a story of a time when she realized the power of words.

Following her split from Asghari in 2023, Spears has increasingly taken to social media to connect with her fans and process her journey.

Spears' post also serves as a reminder of her tumultuous romantic history. Her past relationships have often been in the public eye, from her high-profile breakups with Justin Timberlake and Kevin Federline to her brief marriages to Jason Alexander and Asghari. After a year of marriage, Spears and Asghari went their separate ways, but the singer has moved forward with both her career and her life, reflecting on her journey through both personal and social media posts.

Whether she's sleeping under the stars or indoors, Spears seems to have embraced a renewed commitment to self-expression and self-care, as she inspires her fans worldwide to find their own paths to happiness and freedom.

In July 2023, she split from husband Sam Asghari after just one year of marriage.

Asghari, 30, and the musician, 42, tied the knot in June 2022 after getting engaged in September 2021. They began dating in January 2017.

The "Woman in Me" author recently took to Instagram on Oct. 20 to recall the day she "married" herself.

"The day I married myself … Bringing it back because it might seem embarrassing or stupid, but I think it's the most brilliant thing I've ever done !!!" Spears captioned the video of herself in a white slip dress and lace veil.

Spears was also briefly married to Jason Alexander for 55 hours in 2004.

Aside from her three marriages, one of Spears' most famous public relationships was with Justin Timberlake, 43. The "SexyBack" hitmaker and Spears began dating in 1999 and broke up in 2002.

Britney Spears shares private insights from past relationship

Pop singer Britney Spears reminisced her past relationship while highlighting secret  details with one of her former partners.

The Womanizer vocalist posted a video of herself dancing while slaying a black lingerie on Instagram, revealing private insights of her love life.

"I'm honestly not ashamed to say this, but whenever me and my ex would come here, we fought," Britney stated.

"Not one time did I sleep in [the] bed with him!!! I got a pillow and would sleep outside," she added without exposing ex's name.

Moreover, the 42-year-old also opened up about other reasons for not sharing bed with ex.

She went on saying, "I like the sound of the fountain outside, I wanted to whisper the secrets of the universe."

On the contrary, the Princess of Pop only preferred sleeping indoors due to the climate on the islands.

"I've stayed inside a lot this trip because it's insanely hot !!!" she wrote, before adding "But think I might just sleep in the baby courtyard tonight."

For the unversed, Britney Spears was linked to her former housekeeper-turned-boyfriend.

The rumours came after Britney and Paul were spotted enjoying dinner in Malibu, during the month of July.

The Criminal singer mentioned that the nature, flowers and a little koi pond with a stained glass entrance all remind her of an old school church.

While the musician did not name her ex, the fans wonder if Spears was talking about Paul Soliz, a housekeeper turned boyfriend, with whom the singer was linked lately. This $18 Million L.A. Home Has Ties to Britney Spears and Brittany Murphy. Now It Can Be Yours.

Though its Hollywood Hills locale high above the Sunset Strip is indeed impressive, perhaps the most intriguing thing about this property is its unusual history. Formerly occupied by pop superstar Britney Spears, who rented it out during her relationship with Justin Timberlake, the place was later owned by actress Brittany Murphy, who went on to collapse on the premises and ultimately die from cardiac arrest in 2009, at 32. The Clueless star's 40-year-old husband, Simon Monjack, passed away inside the residence just a few months later.

A developer subsequently bought the estate and gave it a multi-year, down-to-the-studs remodel; David Bernon, a partner at Burn Later Productions and the son of milk mogul Alan Bernon, most recently picked up the home in 2020, for roughly $11.6 million. Now the sprawling contemporary structure in the Bird Streets of Los Angeles has just popped up for sale again, this time asking a speck under $18 million.

Spanning 9,400 square feet of living space, with five bedrooms and nine baths spread across three levels, the snazzy digs cling to the side of a hill and offer sweeping city lights and mountain vistas from almost every vantage point. A lengthy gated driveway ascends to the stone-clad house, where there's an attached four-car garage and a motor court that can accommodate several more vehicles.

A set of steps leads up to the glassy front door, which pivots into a wood-paneled entry foyer topped by skylights. From there, a formal living room boasts a striking matchbook marble fireplace and floor-to-ceiling walls of automated retractable glass doors spilling out to the 1.2-acre grounds, which host numerous terraces, decks and patios, a built-in barbecue and bar, fire pits, and an infinity-edge pool with a spa, a Baja shelf, and a cascading waterfall.

The legendary popstar marked the occasion on Monday, October 28th, by sharing a message on X, formerly Twitter.

The Woman in Me writer thanked her readers, writing, "Wow wow wow ... thank you all for your support over the past year !!! It means the world to me !!!"

The 42-year-old singer's first-ever book documents her journey from a child star to pop icon.

It includes the peak of her career, the awards, the hit albums and also the blows she has dealt with in the past.

She also recorded her experience working with different people in the industry in the book.

"It is finally time for me to raise my voice and speak out, and my fans deserve to hear it directly from me," Spears told People Magazine in a October 2022 interview. "No more conspiracy, no more lies — just me owning my past, present and future."

"The day I married myself … Bringing it back because it might seem embarrassing or stupid, but I think it's the most brilliant thing I've ever done !!!" the Lucky star wrote in the caption.

Few came, saw, and conquered global superstardom quite like Britney Spears. At the turn of the millennium, the teen queen captured the hearts of millions with her pop hits — and, unknowingly, set a business model that would carry for decades to come. But even when record labels tried to replicate the magic, they fell short, because it was largely Spears incorporating her creativity and personality into her career that made the Mississippi-born talent such a unique force. As the calendar changed centuries, no one held a tighter grip on pop's new golden age than Britney, who became an icon with a reliable talent for creating zeitgeist-y moments — years before social media even existed.

While Spears' celebrity and artistry recalled pop juggernauts Madonna and Janet Jackson, she was more reserved in relation to the limelight and never fully leaned into her fierce cultural impact. While some of her predecessors purposely aimed to bust down societal doors, Spears just wanted to excel as a pop star. She led with Southern charm and understated humility, and that juxtaposition added something special to her star power as it ascended (and sometimes tumbled) through the 2000s and into the 2010s, remaining squarely in the public consciousness to this day.

Ironically, there was once a time when Spears' endurance was up for debate, with comparisons to flash-in-the-pan pop stars of yesteryear. But really, we should've known from her first single that she was here to stay. The release of her debut single "…Baby One More Time" in late 1998 marked a cultural reset, jump-starting a reign that enthralled fans, initially shocked parents and forced the industry to follow her lead. With Swedish producer Max Martin at the helm, the song reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 — due, of course, in no small part to the accompanying high school-set music video (which, to the singer's credit, was all her idea, coming after she rejected a video treatment that was much more convoluted).

At just 16, it was a long time coming for Spears, whose experience and professionalism spanned pageants, gymnastics and a stint on Disney's All-New Mickey Mouse Club. For the rest of us, it felt instantaneous, with her accompanying album of the same name dropping months later. Coming on the heels of debuts by the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC, the LP brought the burgeoning TRL era of pop music to new heights and became the best-selling debut by a female teenage artist, moving over 14 million copies in the United States. With her growing arsenal of polished pop hits, dance-heavy music videos and girl-next-door persona, Spears set the stage for an even bigger splash at the beginning of the 21st century. (Britney's '90s accomplishments were not factored into the Billboard staff's calculations when determining her ranking on this solely 21st century-based list.)

Spears' 2000 sophomore LP Oops!…I Did It Again reunited the star with Max Martin, while bringing in veteran hitmakers Rodney Jerkins and Diane Warren for the "more mature" new effort — an arguable assessment, but the 17-year-old knew how to strike a chord with her fans: After all, she was already on a first-name basis with them. In April 2000, she returned with the ultimate friend zone anthem in the set's title track, decked out in a cherry red catsuit for the now-iconic music video. Its parent album stormed the Billboard 200 upon its release a month later, selling a staggering 1.319 million copies in its first week — at the time garnering the largest first-week sales ever for an album by a female artist.

If critics dismissed her artistry due to her flashy showmanship and sex appeal, it was that very stage prowess that set her apart. Later that year, she hit the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards to perform a medley of "Oops" and a cover of The Rolling Stones' "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction." In three minutes, she managed a whole career pivot, tearing off a black suit to reveal a little sparkly ensemble — giving new meaning to being "not that innocent." The media further vilified her for the performance, but it also set high expectations for what women (and Britney herself) could do in pop music. It was also one of the few windows in her career where she tried to strike a balance between live singing and the athleticism of her choreography as future performances would be mostly lip-synced, with Britney focusing on the physicality of her dancing.

With so much access to celebrity nowadays, it's hard to fully understand the phenomenon that was Britney Spears at her commercial peak, but she was everywhere — dominating award shows, gracing magazine covers, starring in TV commercials, available for purchase as a Barbie doll and, of course, on the tip of everyone's tongue. She was the pop princess for a new generation, at once sex-positive but demure, and arm-in-denim-arm with *NSYNC's Justin Timberlake, the pair making for Y2K music's ultimate power couple. While she supported her fellow women in pop and minded her business, the teen queen had some people angry, and others excessively inquisitive, a misogyny-laced treatment that would only get its proper reckoning years down the line. From intrusive questions about her virginity to men twice her age discounting her work, she remained mostly posed and polite until her next studio offering: 2001's Britney.

Spears upped the ante for her third album, stepping to the plate as a young woman who unapologetically owned her sexuality. With a backbone provided by hip-hop superproducers The Neptunes, the set's slinky lead single, "I'm a Slave 4 U," served as a radical sonic shift for the star. She was still months away from her 20s, but the transition from teen sensation to adult superstar was met with criticism. Yet the song became another vehicle for her to shine on stage — and at the 2001 VMAs, she draped herself in a seven-foot python and churned out her most unforgettable performance to date. While she played up the role of sex kitten, the accompanying project, which continued her No. 1 streak on the Billboard 200, also captured her exploration of womanhood ("Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman"), yearned for the normalcy of an average life ("Overprotected") and channeled her inner Janet Jackson ("Boys"). < /p>

Those follow-up singles failed to make the same impact as her former releases, possibly due to a rumored radio suppression, reportedly demoting the songs from high rotation. But by then, Spears had something else to focus on: her foray into Hollywood with her debut feature film, Crossroads. The coming-of-age story boasted a noteworthy ensemble, including Zoe Saldaña, Taryn Manning and Kim Cattrall, with Shonda Rhimes debuting her first screenplay — but despite Spears' affable charm translating well to the silver screen, the movie didn't hit the mark with critics. Simultaneously, her culture-dominating romance with Timberlake came to an end after three years, with the heartthrob reportedly ending the relationship via text message. With their split, the tabloids took sides, as rumors of infidelity spread concerning Spears and their joint choreographer Wade Robson, and Timberlake fueled the flames while launching his own solo career – particularly with his second solo single, the No. 3 Hot 100 smash "Cry Me a River," which included a Britney lookalike in its video.

It was clear that Spears needed some time away from the limelight, but before the end of 2002, she called off her planned six-month hiatus and started work on her most liberating album to that point, In the Zone. That set was also preceded by a new wave of headlines, courtesy of another steamy VMA performance – this time finding her lip locking with her idol, Madonna. The lightning-in-a-bottle moment prompted international headlines and downright hysteria: It was actually pretty tame by today's standards, but those few seconds, complemented by cameras panning to a stone-faced Timberlake, rocked the world. In what could be perceived as the passing of the torch, Spears also recruited Madge for the frisky "Me Against the Music," the album's lead single, which was highly-anticipated and well received by fans, but failed to end her commercial dry spell, peaking at No. 35 on the Hot 100.

Released a month after "Music," Zone dabbled in hip-hop ("Outrageous"), pulsating euro-pop ("Breathe on Me") and delicate slow songs ("Everytime," soon to become her signature ballad). Most importantly, tucked six tracks deep on the album was "Toxic," a theatrical dance-pop track with producers Bloodshy & Avant, led by a thick guitar line and Bollywood strings sample. Spears reportedly fought with her label to release the track as the album's second single in early 2004 — and in the end, her vision paid off. The hit reached No. 9 on the Hot 100 and won best dance recording at the 2004 Grammys, marking her first (and to date only) win. It remains perhaps the most critically acclaimed three minutes and eighteen seconds of Britney's career, and was ranked earlier this year as the Billboard staff's No. 1 s ong of 2004. The companion video saw secret agent Spears dress as a stewardess, slither around in nothing but diamonds and poison her boyfriend, quickly becoming one of her most beloved visuals.

At a time when it wasn't cool to like Britney, "Toxic" shifted that narrative. Even though the world still regarded her and pop idol counterparts as record label puppets, she was nothing close to it — calling the shots on single releases and collaborators, and pushing back on the head honcho executives several times during this campaign. She ran with that agency and never looked back. Behind closed doors, though, things were starting to unravel. An impromptu visit to Las Vegas to marry her childhood friend Jason Allen Alexander caused concern. The union was annulled 55 hours afterward. Then, the overworked star suffered a leg injury while filming the video for "Outrageous" during a rare break in between dates of her "Onyx Hotel World Tour," forcing her to cancel the rest of the trek and altering her performance ability forever.

The next few years for Spears were, well, chaotic, to say the least. Her romance with backup dancer-turned-husband Kevin Federline (and their subsequent reality show together) was heating up and the star shifted her perspective. The gloves were off and she was going to do as she pleased, both personally and professionally. Though she never earned the public's stamp of approval for the relationship, Miss American Dream found ways of owning her decisions and clapping back with her music. A cover of Bobby Brown's 1988 hit, "My Prerogative," fronted her first compilation: 2004's Greatest Hits: My Prerogative, while the eerie "Mona Lisa" foreshadowed her looming troubles. With only hours left until 2005, she dropped by Los Angeles' KIIS-FM unexpectedly to preview the track, revealing it to be part of a project titled The Original Doll.

For the next few years, career priorities would take a backseat as she and Federline welcomed two children, Sean Preston and Jayden James — but the unrelenting attention of the paparazzi increased and the star became the go-to cover girl for tabloid culture. Juggling motherhood, laying the groundwork for her next album and an eventual divorce from K-Fed put her at the eye of the gossip media storm, helping fuel the rise of outlets like Perez Hilton, TMZ and X17. Embarrassing and intrusive coverage of her led to headlines labeling her an unfit parent, while flashbulb moments like her shaving her head or attacking a paparazzo's car with an umbrella turned her into a source for national mockery — but in the middle of the madness, Spears frequented nightclubs for inspiration, while recording what was to become her next album, 2007's Blackout. For the first time in her career, there was no one to reel her in and she took agency, serving as executive producer of the project and exploring new sonic directions and collaborators.

The result? Her magnum opus — demanding the attention of her peers, including Beyoncé and Rihanna, and the rest of the public eye. To this day, Blackout is still celebrated as an influential record for its edgy electro-pop sound and confidently sexual lyrics, and the album was even added to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's musical library and archive in 2012. Brash, experimental and self-aware in its almost-menacing approach, the set was fronted by the Danja-produced "Gimme More," where the star asserted her celebrity with a seismic three-word intro: "It's Britney, bitch." The song reached No. 3 on the Hot 100 — a massive win, considering it followed a lethargic comeback performance of the track on the VMA stage that year that saw her body-shamed and ridiculed.

Despite the universally panned performance and continued public derision of Spears' personal life in the media, Blackout still sold 290,000 copies in its first week and bowed at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Even with sizable hits on her hands like the media clapback "Piece of Me" (a top 15 Hot 100 hit, and also her first VMA win for video of the year the next September), her personal life was imploding. She lost physical custody of her sons, while separately, parents Jamie and Lynn Spears (and soon-to-be business manager Lou Taylor) orchestrated a conservatorship over her personhood and estate after putting the singer on a 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold under California state law. The temporary-turned-permanent arrangement declared Britney was incapable of managing her financial affairs and making basic life decisions, but her workload over the following years would prove otherwise.

With all autonomy lost, Spears was pushed to work almost immediately, and everyone turned a blind eye to her restricted freedom as she hit the gym with fresh blonde extensions. She appeared on CBS' How I Met Your Mother, helping the series log its highest ratings ever, and began recording yet another album, Circus. The 2008 project and its promo cycle was marketed as her return to form, a comeback project to redeem her from the turbulence of recent years — and released on her birthday, no less. It produced the lead single, "Womanizer," which brought her back to the top of the Hot 100 for the first time since "…Baby One More Time." She was smiling, in-shape and seemingly happy — and the success continued with follow-up singles: the dance-ready title track (a No. 3 hit) and the cheeky "If U Seek Amy" (No. 19).

The subsequent Circus Starring Britney Spears Tour made its way around the world, but much like an actual circus, the star of the show was being mistreated. A growing disconnect between Spears and her craft became evident in music and performances, showing up more prominently throughout her following releases. Her next album, Femme Fatale, which dropped in 2011, embraced the EDM trend of the early 2010s. While the hits kept on coming ("Hold it Against Me," No. 1; "Till the World Ends," with a much-hyped remix featuring Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha, No. 3; and "I Wanna Go," No. 7), the charm and charisma was starting to lose its spark in her performances and the impact of the conservatorship had taken its toll. Her appearance on Rihanna's "S&M" remix and "Scream & Shout," alongside will.i.am, extended her streak of hits, but she was about to run another victory lap and change the face of Las Ve gas entertainment forever — whether she liked it or not.

After years of releasing albums and counterpart tours, Spears' next move revitalized both her career and the Las Vegas entertainment scene. Once a refuge for singers looking to relive their glory days, Sin City was given a facelift when her 2013 residency landed and she became the first contemporary act of her time to hit the strip. Aptly titled Britney: Piece of Me, the 90-minute show featured more than two dozen hits, incorporating classics and fan favorites, with the bells and whistles of her typical pop production. The show debuted weeks before the release of Britney Jean, a makeshift album marketed as her most personal project to-date, yet only produced a medium-sized hit with the campy "Work Bitch" and drew middling reviews.

While still a contrast from the performer she once was, the residency saw Spears slowly come into her own again, running for four years and grossing $137.7 million. And for a fleeting moment, Britney Spears was Britney Spears again – with her million-dollar smile, dancing to a medley of hits at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards, where she also became the third recipient of the BBMA Millennium Award honor. Towards the latter part of the Vegas residency, the singer dropped 2016's Glory, her last studio album to date, and it sounded like the spark was back: The collection was led by Weeknd-esque "Make Me," featuring G-Eazy, and followed by a remix of "Slumber Party" with then-newcomer Tinashe. Those singles didn't become the enduring hits of her '00s albums, but Glory received strong reviews and served as an invaluable experience for the star, who later described it as "the one thing … that [she] real ly put her heart into" during her decade-plus conservatorship.

Once the residency wrapped, Spears was seemingly gaining her autonomy back, but a reported dance rehearsal dispute with her father led to the cancellation of a follow-up Vegas residency, Britney: Domination. One red flag led to another and eventually a whistleblower alleged that she had been forced into a mental health facility against her will  — and the Free Britney movement was born. Court documents and (most fascinatingly) her Instagram account suddenly became sources to fans for possible clues and hints about her true feelings, turning the conspiracy theory into a full blown pop culture movement, garnering support from other pop icons like Miley Cyrus and Cher. In 2021, the Framing Britney Spears documentary brought more attention, while fan-orchestrated protests outside of court and a brighter spotligh t on conservatorship abuse eventually helped Spears secure the right to choose her own legal representation and dismantle the arrangement. Since then, Spears has also told her story on her own terms in her memoir, The Woman in Me, in 2023. The bombshell tell-all sold 1.1 million copies and became a New York Times best-seller within a week of its release. A film adaptation of the book directed by Jon M. Chu is currently in the works at Universal Pictures.

The future of Spears' pop superstardom since ending the 13-year conservatorship remains in question. Since giving up her childhood to an industry that overlooked her creative vision and discounted her achievements, she's focused on a different chapter of life. Today, she lives a life free from the shackles of her family and the guardianship, and is relearning just how to be an independent adult. For that, she stands as a survivor and perhaps a reluctant hero to many – one whose hits, performances and aesthetic have had an incalculable influence on the last 25 years of pop culture.

Her 2022 Elton John teamup "Hold Me Closer" is her lone hit since the Glory cycle, yet her impact is still alive and well in 2024, even shaping a fresh new batch of stars. Just take a look at this year's VMAs ceremonies, where countless new-gen pop stars, including Sabrina Carpenter, Tate McCrae and Megan Thee Stallion, incorporated allusions to classic Britney in their appearances and performances. It's that multigenerational legacy that's helped Spears become one of the few acts to span top 10 hits across four decades, further cementing her legacy as one of pop's greatest. Now that she's achieved her independence and control over her career, whether she'll make a full return to pop music remains unclear — we only know that if and when she does, the entire pop world will be rapt in attention to watch Britney Spears do it again.

'I just found my soul here:' Britney Spears fawns over Turks and Caicos

The Turks and Caicos apparently agree with Britney Spears.

The 42-year-old pop star posted a racy video on her Instagram account on Sunday, during which she danced in a black bra, panties and boots, while extolling the virtues of the British Overseas Territory,  according to the Daily Mail.

"There's something about this exotic place … No matter how many times I come here, it feels like the first time !!! The way Mother Nature speaks to me !!! Alone !!! Meditation and prayer speaks volumes !!!" Spears wrote underneath the video.

"A video I took outside had birds singing and the song was so loud !!! Ok, maybe I just found my soul here !!! I will be honest, there's a courtyard with flowers and a small gate and a little koi pond with a stained-glass entrance door before you walk in that reminds me of OLD SCHOOL CHURCH !!! Which sometimes has a deeper meaning and feeling !!!"

Spears thoughts also drifted to her previous visits to the tropical islands located in the Atlantic Ocean's Lucayan Archipelago.

"I'm honestly not ashamed to say this, but whenever me and my ex would come here, we fought," she wrote.

"Not one time did I sleep in bed with him !!! I got a pillow and would sleep outside … I like the sound of the fountain outside !!! I wanted to whisper the secrets of the universe … I've stayed inside a lot this trip because it's insanely hot !!! But think I might just sleep in the baby courtyard tonight."

The clip on Instagram, where she has 41.9 million followers, had over 41,000 likes within three hours, but she turned off commenting so fans were unable to share their reactions.

Britney Spears got married for the fourth time and this time to herself

Britney Spears is a pop icon and also, a sensation for a reason. She proved this statement true once more. The Toxic singer and songwriter has walked down the aisle thrice but it is her latest marital news has left the internet reeling. Britney posted a reel of herself on her Instagram handle in a bridal avatar in a beige silk wedding dress with a white lace veil and train perched atop her head along with the caption, "The day I married myself ... Bringing it back because it might seem embarrassing or stupid, but I think it's the most brilliant thing I've ever done !!!"

As Britney's most recent marriage to none other than herself makes waves, we're walking down memory lane with a look at her relationship history.

  • Britney first married her childhood friend Jason Alexander on January 3, 2004 in Las Vegas while the two were on a trip together. Post partying in Vegas, the duo apparently ended up getting married for just 55 hours and their nuptials were annulled two days later.
  • Britney's second marriage was with American dancer and actor Kevin Federline in September 2004 during a surprise wedding ceremony in Studio City, California. It lasted three years until March 2007 and the former couple share two sons, Sean Preston Federline and Jayden James Federline together.
  • The third time around, Britney married Iranian-American model-turned-actor and fitness trainer Sam Asghari on June 9, 2022 in a lavish ceremony at her home in Thousand Oaks, California. Sam Asghari, who was twelve years her junior, filed for divorce in August 2023, a little over a year after being married. He cited irreconcilable differences as the reason. The duo's date of separation is listed as July 28, 2023 as per the court filings and Sam Asghari first publicly spoke about his divorce from Britney in early March 2024.

Britney Spears is ready to tie the knot for the fourth time, friends say

Britney Spears is reportedly ready to marry a fourth time

They say the pop star, 42, has fallen in love with her former handyman and father-of-nine Paul Soliz after dating for almost a year.

And a path for them to tie the knot has opened up after his estranged second wife, Nicole Mancilla, filed for divorce in California earlier this month after eight years of marriage.

A source close to Britney, who first met Mr Soliz, 38, when he was hired to do maintenance work at her LA mansion in 2022, said: "Is she hoping he'll pop the question? One hundred per cent yes."

The Oops, I Did It Again singer has given the ex-contractor a new role – as her social media manager – and several of his children have already stayed with them at her home.

"She really enjoys having youngsters around her again," the source added, "and she's welcomed Paul's ready-made family into her life. With everything she's been through, she sees this as a completely fresh start."

Britney has just made her final court-ordered child support payment to her second husband Kevin Federline for their sons Sean Preston, 19 and Jayden James, 18, who have been living with their father and his new wife in Hawaii.

The star was also previously married – for a mere 55 hours – to childhood sweetheart Jason Alexander after a whirlwind reunion romance in Las Vegas in 2004.

Her third husband, male model Sam Asghari, filed for divorce last year just 14 months after their wedding ceremony at her mansion in front of 60 guests including Madonna, Drew Barrymore and Paris Hilton.

Their union came after the end of her bitterly contested court conservatorship order that gave her father complete control of her finances following a series of public meltdowns in 2007 and 2008.

Another source said: "She deserves peace and happiness at last – and her friends are hoping she'll find them with Paul."

kim jong-un, a britney spears fan

This is presumed to be an instruction sent by Kim Jong-chol to a European embassy staff member, Mr. A, on February 25, 2011.

He attached a photo, asking Mr. A to purchase eight different types of T-shirts with Eric Clapton designs and to send him the receipt.

The request specified five XX-Large shirts and three X-Large shirts.

Of the three X-Large shirts, only one was for a woman, and the remaining seven were for men.

Mr. A reported that he purchased six of the requested types and informed Pyongyang of the expected delivery date and prices.

The XX-Large T-shirts was suspected to be intended for Kim Jong-un, who was designated as successor in February 2011.

Kim Jong-chol reportedly decorated everything, from his guitar to accessories, sheet music, and clothes, with Eric Clapton designs, and he played Clapton songs on weekends.

It has been reported that Chairman Kim Jong-un and his wife enjoyed participating in Kim Jong-chol's band performances as a means of relieving stress.

[Lee Yoon-geol / Director, North Korea Strategic Information Service Center]On weekends, "Kim Jong-chul created a band called 'Satbyeol' and Kim Jong-un also participated, and Ri Sol-ju sang songs. It seems that he used it as a means of relieving stress with people close to him."

Kim Jong-un is known to be a fan of American singer Britney Spears and "Baby One More Time" is his favorite song to sing.

Attached is a file containing the list of seven DVDs and CDs that Mr.A purchased on January 15, 2009, according to instructions.

All items on the list were Britney Spears songs, with order numbers, dates, prices, and an Amazon account number included.

Regarding this, Director Lee Yoon-geol stated, "It is understood that Kim Jong-chol placed the order at the request of Kim Jong-un."

[Lee Yoon-geol / Director, North Korea Strategic Information Service Center]"It is said that when Kim Jong-un and Kim Jong-cho l performed together, they listened to Britney Spears songs. also Kim Jong-un would personally listen to DVDs obtained through Kim Jong-chol whenever he had the chance."

While the supreme leader admires an American singer and his brother idolizes a British one, ordinary North Korean citizens face harsh punishment if caught enjoying foreign music.

Britney Spears’ Heartbreaking Ballad Is A Chart Hit Once Again

LAS VEGAS, NV - SEPTEMBER 24: Singer Britney Spears performs onstage at the iHeartRadio Music ... [+] Festival at T-Mobile Arena on September 24, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Britney Spears hasn't given her fans anything new to enjoy in more than a year. They may not receive a tune or full-length in quite some time, either, as the singer has made her displeasure with the music industry well-known, and she may be done recording material. In lieu of a previously unknown tune, her following is instead refocusing their listening and buying attention on some of the songs that made her a global powerhouse.

One of Spears' most successful ballads returns this week in the U.K. The single finds its way back to more than one tally, as sales of the cut improved enough recently to become a hit all over again.

"Everytime" breaks back onto a pair of lists in the United Kingdom, though it only barely manages to do so. The tune lands at No. 90 on the Official Singles Downloads ranking, and three rungs lower on the Official Singles Sales roster.

Spears released "Everytime" in 2004 as a single from her album In the Zone. The song was different from much of her output, which is usually all about dancing, having a good time, sexual innuendos, and other joyful endeavors. "Everytime" is slower, calmer, and it showed a different side of the musician–which likely helps explain the cut's success.

"Everytime" eventually climbed to No. 1 on the main singles ranking in the U.K. It was her second leader from In the Zone, following "Toxic." Lead single "Me Against the Music," which saw Spears team up with Madonna, stalled at No. 2.

Spears only has one song on the U.K. charts at the moment, but it seems that the surprise success of "Everytime" may have helped her rise on the albums rankings. The Grammy winner's The Singles Collection is climbing on two tallies across the pond this week, which isn't odd, considering that one of the tracks featured on its tracklist is surging. The compilation pushes one rung on the Official Albums Streaming (No. 57) and nearly 10 slots on the main albums ranking (No. 69).

Kylie Minogue on the Britney Spears hit that she turned down

History is littered with stories of actors who turned down movies that went on to be hugely successful, and it's a similar story in the music world. Songwriters frequently pitch their wares to multiple artists, and there are many cases where a song is turned by someone only for someone else to have a hit with it.

Take Britney Spears' Toxic, for example, which could easily have ended up being recorded by not one but two different singers. Its writers - Cathy Dennis, Christian Karlsson, Pontus Winnberg and Henrik Jonback - reportedly had Janet Jackson in mind when they were working on it, but, in the end, Toxic was initially offered to Kylie Minogue.

This was back in 2003, and by then, Dennis and fellow Brit Rob Davis had already given Minogue a huge hit with 2001's Can't Get You Out of My Head, so you can see why she was part of the Toxic conversation.

Remarkably, though - in hindsight, anyway - Minogue turned the song down, and she recently admitted as much in an interview with Audacy.

"Yeah, there's a little song called Toxic that was headed my way, and I was like, 'Toxic? I don't know if I want a song called Toxic," she explained. "As it's turned out, it was meant to be a Britney Spears song, I can't imagine it being anything else."

Touching on Toxic in an interview with The Sun a few years ago, Kylie said: "I listened to a snippet of it in the record-company offices and decided against it. I knew that Britney was keen for it. That's cool. I wasn't at all angry when it worked for her. It's like the fish that got away. You just have to accept it."

One person who must have been relieved that Toxic was a hit was Cathy Dennis, who admitted to Songwriting Magazine in 2013 that the writing process wasn't exactly stress free.

"That was sheer torture," she said of the song. "I beat myself up for seven days, not sleeping. The melody came first, then I had this puzzle of trying to fit words to the right number of syllables. It was really weird. I kept writing and then re-editing myself again, and again, and again."

Dennis wasn't deterred, though, and would end up writing more hits. Sugababes' About You Now and Katy Perry's I Kissed A Girl, for example.

Kylie, meanwhile, just keeps on being Kylie: her 17th album Tension II was released last week.

Rihanna's Skin-Tight, Shiny Red Catsuit Is So Britney Spears-Coded

It's giving "Oops! I Did It Again."

Despite revealing that her style has taken a shift since becoming a mom of two, Rihanna continues to push out daring and iconic looks that only add to her enviable style file. Her latest look came courtesy of Moncler's The City of Genius event in Shanghai, where she opted for a slinky catsuit.

Rihanna's outfit consisted of a shiny red one piece catsuit with a zipper down its front, which she wore slightly open around the bust to expose some cleavage. The catsuit hugged her curves perfectly, and the fabric has an iridescent white shine to it as camera flashed.

The Fenty Beauty founder paired the catsuit with a matching red puffer vest, black wraparound sunglasses, black heels, and completed the look with a bright red lipstick. The look channeled the likes of Britney Spears in "Oops! I Did It Again," except a more modern, sexy take on the pop star's iconic catsuit video look.

Rihanna has previously expressed feeling some pause about her style, especially now that she and A$AP Rocky are a unit. "I be feeling bummy as shit next to this man. I feel like, goddamn, I look like his assistant," she joked while speaking with Interview magazine for its spring 2024 issue. "I'm getting on a plane. We should be in sweats. He wants to be in a full Bottega suit. I'm like, 'Why you got to do that to me?'" Rihanna added.

Part of Rihanna's more relaxed approach to fashion comes from making sure her kids look good first— "It's more like I spend my time getting the kids dressed to death, and then I'm like, 'What's the most comfortable outfit to wear around them? What's not going to feel uncomfortable on their face or on their body or make me feel like I can't hold them properly?' Moms are lazy dressers in real life."

Bianca Censori reappears with a different hairstyle alongside Kanye West in Tokyo amid divorce rumors

Bianca Censori has once again surprised fans with a daring new look and usually seen with her hair slicked back, but stepped out in Tokyo alongside her husband Kanye West, sporting a dramatically teased hairstyle that had everyone talking.

The couple was spotted at the Gold Bar in Tokyo's Edition Hotel on Friday night, enjoying a casual outing with friends, including Aus Taylor, who has directed several of West's live performances.

Censori's hair was teased into a wild, voluminous style that stood out in various directions, marking a sharp departure from her usual sleek appearance.

She wore a nude, one-shoulder sleeveless top for the evening, complementing her bold new look. West, sitting by her side, was seen smiling and wearing black shades with a black tank top, offering a rare glimpse of his face without his usual coverings.

Kanye West's album work continues in Tokyo

While the pair's Tokyo outing has attracted attention, West is reportedly in the city to work on his latest album, Bully, according to sources from TMZ.

The rapper, who has not had a permanent address for over a year, has been working from a hotel room in Tokyo for some time now.

Despite the buzz surrounding his personal life, West remains focused on his music, with Bully being one of his major projects this year.

Censori's latest hairstyle is not the first time she's opted for a bold transformation. Earlier this year, she turned heads in Paris with a vibrant pink hairdo and a daring see-through leotard.

She also made waves in February at West's Vultures event in Milan, where she debuted a short bob with bangs while wearing a sheer tank top and tights.

As speculation about the couple's relationship continues, Censori's evolving style and West's ongoing music projects ensure they remain at the center of public attention.

Kristin Cavallari Thinks Britney Spears and Kanye West Have Been Cloned

Conspiracy theories are entertaining, but only to a point. During the COVID-19 pandemic, questioning science and career-dedicated practitioners became the norm. Our current political landscapes have only heightened these hot takes, leaving our country incredibly divided and, to be blunt, angry and argumentative as hell. Now, Kristin Cavallari is entering this chat, so, ugh. Via her massive platform, Kristin has just revealed that she believes the current public-facing Britney Spears and Kanye West are clones, which, what?

Kristin has a podcast called Let's Be Honest. During a recent episode, she and her BFF, Justin Anderson, began discussing their opinions about natural health options. They then transitioned into conspiracy theories, which Kristen admits she believes.

"I believe everything. Do you want to know my favorite? I believe this, you guys. I wholeheartedly believe what I'm about to say: I think there are clones, okay? And I think Kanye is a clone," Kristin began, making me say, eh, what now?

According to Kristin, "the Illuminati [and] the cabal … did not like" how Kayne used to call "a lot of people" out publically. "He said, 'If I go away and I come back and I look different, that is not me,'" Kristin reiterated, referencing a since-deleted tweet from the ever-odd stylings of Kayne.

"What the f*ck happened? He was gone. He gone! 'Member he fell off the face of the Earth for a little while? Look at him. Compare old photos of him. It's not the same f*cking person. It's not," Kristin expressed, rather enthusiastically.

Oh. That lovely, deserving of-all-the-nice-things woman, who loves to twirl around on Instagram while hurting NO ONE, well, she is not Britney, b*tch, either. "That's not Britney Spears. Go [and] look at [her] photos! That's not Britney Spears," Kristen added.

Cue Justin, noting that he has worked as a hairstylist for Jamie Lynn Spears. "I've done her hair a bunch of times. She would tell me," he quipped, trying his best to bring this conversation back into a non-QAnon-like landing place.

Laughing, Kristin then pleaded, "Don't cancel me, Hollywood! Let me have my podcast."

I laughed. But no. Godspeed, Kristin (and society).

TELL US – IS KRISTIN ONTO SOMETHING? COULD KAYNE AND BRITNEY BE CLONES? OR NEH, NOPE, NEVER, WITH A MASSIVE SIDE OF WTF?
