They were both child stars but they couldn't have been more different, one was a clean-cut Opera singer in slacks, the other a former Disney star blonde bombshell wearing the shortest school skirt she could get her hands on.
But voice of an angel Charlotte Church has revealed a chance encounter with Toxic Britney Spears, in LA at a swanky celebrity bash.
The 27-year-old appeared on Graham Norton and explained to the host her bizarre meeting with pop's former Disney princess.
Chance encounter: The pair met when Church, pictured left performing yesterday, was 15 and Britney who is three years older, was 18
She said: 'I was at a party and Britney was there. Her PA came up to me and said, 'Britney is a massive fan and would really like to meet you,' and I was, 'okay, not a problem,' and I went over and Britney just kind of turned and said, 'hi' then turned away and carried on.
'The woman ushered me away and said, 'That was so amazing for Britney, she just loved you.''
And although the pair may not have had similar images when they were younger, they could be said to have a lot in common, they both had children in their twenties and both appeared as judges on reality talent shows, Britney on X Factor USA and Charlotte on Over The Rainbow in 2010.

The singer, who took to the stage yesterday at Cornbury Festival with her new single Rise, also told the chatshow host how she went boozing with Hollywood heavyweight, and fellow Welsh celebrity, Catherine Zeta-Jones after a golf tournament.
She revealed her husband Michael Douglas was left 'fuming' when she and the Swansea-born actress were 'singing and having a great time'.
Demure: Her dress may have been pale pink but Church's strong voice stunned crowds

The singer and TV host was just one of the celebrities who headlined at the festival which started yesterday and many fans took to Twitter saying the Welsh stunner stole the show.
The popular festival, held at Great Tew, near Chipping Norton, Oxon, now in its ninth year, attracted a large crowd and among those due to appear on stage over the weekend with the Welsh singer were Elvis Costello, Jools Holland, Marc Almond and Alison Moyet.
It is believed Church made it a family affair and brought along her two children to camp in the festival grounds.
Charlotte takes to Twitter to thank her fans
Fans certainly enjoyed her set, taking to Twitter to show their support with one follower saying: 'So, what's the difference between Charlotte Church and Pixie Lott... err, real band, real music and a doo doo load of talent.'
Church performed in a hippy dress which showed off her slim legs and the pale salmon highlighted her newly lightened hair.
The Cornbury Music Festival runs until Sunday and apart from the music acts, festival-goers are entertained by a fairground, Morris Dancers and children's and adults' theatre workshops.
