Britney Spears new songs: rumored 'X Factor' performance; 'Pleasure You' demo - Examiner.com

"The X Factor" U.S. judge Britney Spears is expected to perform on the show sometime in 2012, and there is an unconfirmed rumor that her performance will include a new song. Meanwhile, her former duet partner (and "X Factor" reject) Don Philip has leaked on Soundcloud a previously unreleased demo recording of the Spears song "Pleasure You" in which his vocals are also on the song.

The rumor about 30-year-old Spears performing a new song on "The X Factor" U.S. started when this message appeared on songwriter/producer Savan Kotecha's Twitter account on July 4, 2012: "I’ve got some news on #BritFactor! If I said a performance in September, would you hold it against me? (it’s a new song, don’t panic.)"

The message has since been removed from his account.

Kotecha is one of the music producers for "The X Factor," and he has worked with several "X Factor" acts on their albums, including One Direction and Cher Lloyd.

On July 5, 2012: Kotecha tweeted about the message that was removed from his account: "I haven't tweeted anything about britney and the x factor. I unless I was hacked I think everyone has the wrong info!"

So far, representatives for Spears are not commenting on the rumor.

The second season of "The X Factor" U.S. premieres in two parts on Fox on September 12 and September 13, 2012, at 8 p.m. Eastern/Pacific Time.

Spears performed on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2008. She did the song "Womanizer," one of the singles from her 2008 album, "Circus."

As for the "Pleasure You" demo, it is unknown when it was recorded or if Philip added his vocals to what was intended to be a non-duet song. An audio recording of "Pleasure You" (without Philip on vocals) was leaked in 2010, and several media outlets reported that the song would be on Spears' 2011 album, "Femme Fatale," but the track never appeared on the album. It is also unknown if Philip can legally release the song on his own, since Sony Music has the copyrights to Spears' recorded music.

Spears and Philips did a duet called "I Will Still Love You" on her 1999 debut album, "... Baby One More Time."

Her most recent single is "Criminal," a "Femme Fatale" track that was released in the U.S. in September 2011.

As previously reported, 32-year-old Philip auditioned for "The X Factor" U.S. in Oakland, California, on June 17, 2012. He made headlines for his emotional reaction at seeing Spears at the audition (Philip said that he hadn't seen her in about 10 years), and he used the audition to come out as gay. Philip was ultimately rejected by all four "X Factor" U.S. judges (Spears, Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid and Demi Lovato). Philip later talked about his "X Factor" audition experience on his Facebook page and in an interview with Celebuzz.

On his Facebook page, he initially expressed anger and bitterness at the judges after the audition, but those messages were removed. In his latest Facebook messages, he expressed embarrassment about the audition, said he was a fan of Spears, and begged Cowell to give him another chance.

In other news about Spears, she spent the Fourth of July holiday in Hawaii with her two sons (Sean and Jayden) and her fiancé, Jason Trawick. She tweeted a happy family photo of them that was taken on the vacation. This message accompanied the photo: "Happy 4th of July from the Aloha State!"

Spears goes back to work on "The X Factor" U.S. for the last auditions of the year that take place on July 8 and 9, 2012, at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina.
