Pop Stars Go Disney: See Lady Gaga, Britney Spears as Cinderella - Fuse

Mexican artist Rodolfo Loaiza has managed to take some of pop music's most shocking moments and make them even more startling. In his new series, "Disasterland" (on exhibit August 3 at Los Angeles' La Luz de Jesus Gallery), Loaiza has reimagined Britney Spears during her head shaving craze as Cindarella, David Bowie on the cover of Aladdin Sane as Tinkerbell and "Beat It" era Michael Jackson as Peter Pan. Lady Gaga's meat dress also makes an appearance as the Fairy Godmother is depicted transforming Cindarella's rags into haute cowture.

Loaiza, whose favorite musicians include icons Freddie Mercury, Jimi Hendrix and Madonna, blends his interests in pop culture, fashion, animation and celebrity in this series of 25 pieces. As for why he focused specifically on Gaga, Spears and Jackson as part of his series, Loaiza told us, "I found them to be a great vehicle of communication and expression, and decided they should be part of this project which refers to the excesses of the fame... Young Britney Spears represents a key figure in pop culture, almost as if she's the contemporary 'Disasterland' princess."

Since his work hit the internet just a few days ago, Loaiza's already sold 10 "Disasterland" pieces, ranging from $650 to $2,400. And in case you think his work is ruining all of your favorite childhood memories, trying thinking of the notion of fairy tale endings the way Loiza does: "Life would be very boring if ['happily ever after'] existed."

Check out more of Loiza's "Disasterland" prints below, and be on the lookout for more from him in the future. He's already has a "long list of new ideas spinning in his head."
