Britney Spears has recently caused concern among her fans after posting two new videos of herself dancing erratically in a skimpy outfit on her Instagram page. The videos, which feature Spears, 41, wearing a snakeskin thong, have raised alarm bells among fans who are worried about her mental health.
This isn't the first time her devotees have been "concerned" over her behavior, as she has posted several cryptic videos and images for her 41.9 million followers that have prompted worry for her well-being. With that said, let's take a closer look at the two videos she uploaded this week (note: she turned her IG comments off) and what fans think they might mean:
Britney Spears' Sultry And 'Strange' Instagram Dancing Videos: What Do They Mean?On April 19th, the Grammy winner posted a video of herself dancing alluringly to a remixed song playing in the background. Her video was taken in her house, presumably, and she smiled while moving her body to the beat. She wore a fiery red, long-sleeved crop top with a low-cut neckline. The "…Baby One More Time" hitmaker showed off her sculpted abs in a snakeskin thong piece. To top off her outfit, she chose knee-high black pointed-toe boots.
The video featured several jarring jump cuts, proving that there were multiple takes put together. Spears almost never didn't make eye contact with the camera, another action that fans have called out as "scary" or "strange" in the past. She used three red rose emojis to caption her upload. One day earlier, she more a near-identical get-up, just with a yellow version of the same shirt.

Fans Have Mixed (But Mostly Negative) Reactions To Spears' New VideosSince Spears took away the option to leave IG comments, some fans headed to Twitter to share their thoughts on her recent dance videos. "Okay, [Britney] genuinely needs help," one tweeted as another added, "I'm genuinely concerned about [Britney]." Someone else chimed in, agreeing and referencing one of the "Gimme More" singer's aforementioned video posts: "Something doesn't seem right with her".

One other fan added that they thought "[Britney] in her Instagram videos is an extreme parody of the need to be approved of your physique and the obsession to be liked on social media. I am very sorry." The user also added that they wanted "someone to help her" and stressed that they weren't trying to "make fun of anyone." On Reddit, as The Mirror reports, someone else commented, "There is definitely something not right. Poor Britney."

Others instead defended the "Toxic" singer, and stressed that she could just be dancing in the videos for "simple fun," and that there's "nothing to worry about." One tweeted in response to other fan reactions to the videos: "Let my girl Britney dance." Someone else agreed, adding, "Britney motivates me to dance. Great way to destress and work out!" Another replied, "I just love [Britney's] dancing vids."
One other fan wanted to point out that "everybody dances in their house like nobody's watching," and that it's "just that Britney has the balls to post it." On Reddit, as The Mirror reports, someone commented, "Leave Britney alone," recalling a popular phrase from the #FreeBritney movement.
Apart from dancing clips, Spears has also used her social media accounts to open up about the enduring pain caused by her 13-year conservatorship. Since being freed from the conservatorship (and pleasing the #FreeBritney movement in the process), Spears married her longtime boyfriend, actor Sam Asghari, 29, and returned to the music world in August 2022. Her latest release, "Hold Me Closer," is a collaborative reworking of Elton John's 1972 classic "Tiny Dancer," and features verses from both musicians. As always, we hope she's doing much b etter!
