Britney Spears Should Probably Keep Janet Jackson Out Her and Justin Timberlake's Mess, And Here's Why ...

We've always got time to celebrate the iconic Janet Jackson. If we're being honest: Every modern female pop star, and a few of the guys, should be praising her non-stop. At least one major celeb took time out to do just that over the weekend. On Sunday, in a since deleted Instagram post, Britney Spears showed her gratitude to Janet for inspiring her.

"Thank you to this beautiful lady for keeping my dreams and heart alive," Spears wrote. "She's always been the deepest and brightest woman at the same time. She went through so much but I feel she is someone I will look up to for the rest of my life. Thank you for your music and your divine way of untangling intelligence to a far more clear view than anyone could ever imagine."

While Britney's words may be genuine, there's something questionable about the timing. Since the release of her memoir, "The Woman In Me," she and ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake have been in a very public feud. The book revealed several private aspects of their relationship, including infidelity, abortion and his desire to be accepted by Black artists.

In response, Timberlake has been making snarky comments while performing his hit song, "Cry Me a River," which is allegedly about Spears' cheating.

Also, Timberlake notably left Janet to take all the blame following the infamous Super Bowl Halftime Show where her breast was exposed. Janet's career was inevitably altered for years, while Timberlake apologized, cried ignorance and continued to find success.

Now, Britney is unnecessarily bringing Janet into whatever immature back and forth she and Timberlake are engaged in. If she wants to celebrate Janet's influence and impact, we're here for that. However, if she's trying to use the "Control" legend as another "gotcha" moment in this never-ending nonsense with Timberlake, she needs to rethink that move right now. Janet is set for another leg of her "Together Again" tour and has no time to be dragged into their issues.
