Britney Spears thanks Janet Jackson 'for keeping my dreams and heart alive' amid ongoing feud with ex Justin Timberlake

Britney Spears publicly thanked fellow pop star Janet Jackson on Sunday 'for keeping my dreams and heart alive.'

'She's always been the deepest and brightest woman at the same time,' the 42-year-old Grammy winner - who boasts 117.3M social media followers - wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post.

'She went through so much but I feel she is someone I will look up for for the rest of my life. Thank you for your music and your divine way of untangling intelligence to a far more clear view than anyone could ever imagine.'

Britney and the 57-year-old Rhythm Nation star currently follow each other on Instagram, but it's unclear if they've ever actually met.

Back in 2001, Spears performed with Janet's late, great brother during the CBS special Michael Jackson: 30th Anniversary Celebration during which they sang his 1987 hit The Way You Make Me Feel.

However, the Hold Me Closer hitmaker and Jackson have both been wronged by the same man, Justin Timberlake.

In 2004, the 43-year-old pop star 'accidentally' exposed the five-time Grammy winner's breast plate at the climax of her headlining gig at the 2004 Super Bowl Halftime Show.

The term 'wardrobe malfunction' was coined as a result of the scandal and Viacom CEO Les Moonves had Janet's music and vi deos blacklisted from CBS, MTV, and radio station group Infinity Broadcasting.

And while both Jackson and Timberlake issued public apologies for their nipple-flashing duet of Rock Your Body, his career remained unscathed while hers suffered.

Meanwhile, Britney and Justin - who dated between 2000-2003 - originally met as children starring as Mouseketeers on The Disney Channel's The Mickey Mouse Club from 1993-1994.

In Spears' 2023 memoir The Woman In Me, she revealed that the Selfish singer urged her to have an abortion when they unexpectedly became pregnant.

'It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn't a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I'd anticipated,' the Mississippi-born singer wrote.

'But Justin definitely wasn't happy about th e pregnancy. He said we weren't ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young. If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn't want to be a father. To this day, [the abortion was] one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life.'

On January 28, Britney started to feel bad for Timberlake writing: 'I wanna apologize for some of the things I wrote about in my book. If I offended any of the people I genuinely care about I am deeply sorry'

Three days later, Justin - who had apologized to Britney and Janet in a since-deleted 2021 Instagram - defiantly declared that he'd 'like to take this opportunity to apologize to absolutely f***ing nobody' during his performance at Irving Plaza in Manhattan

At that, Spears deleted her prior apology to the 10-time Grammy winner and instead wrote: 'Someone told me someone was talking s*** about me on the streets! Do you want to bring it to the court or will you go home crying to your mom like you did last time? I'm not sorry!'

Britney's critically-acclaimed tell-all is currently No. 6 on the New York Times' Bestsellers Non-Fiction list after an impressive 17 weeks.

'I also wanted to say I am in love with Justin Timberlake's new song Selfish. It is soo good and how come every time I see Justin and Jimmy [Fallon] together I laugh so hard? P.S. Sanctified is wow too!'
