7 Years Ago, Blake Lively Channeled Britney Spears With This Bra-Baring Look

Britney Spears' impact is unmatched, especially when it comes to fashion. Even Blake Lively has been known to take the occasional cue from the Princess of Pop.

Over seven years ago, the actor channeled Spears on the red carpet by showing off her bra in a glamorous look that seemed tailor-made for an epic awards show performance. (Only Lively didn't perform that night, obviously, but she left a major winner.)

At the 2017 People's Choice Awards, Lively wore a sparkly black fringe Elie Saab dress that looked amazing on stage when she won Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress, beating out Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Amy Adams, and Emily Blunt.

Her glittery black bra underneath gave off major rockstar vibes, as did her accessories. She wore oversized diamond-shaped earrings, strappy black heels with gold and silver studs, and a black leather clutch with a silver crystal clasp.

Britney's Bra-Exposing Looks

Lively's look seems inspired by Spears' long-sleeved LBD at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards, where she famously performed with a snake. Her little black dress had lacy see-through fabric that showed off her matching black bra and underwear.

Almost 15 years later, Spears did it again (pun intended) at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards, where she received the Music Icon award. The Grammy winner exposed her lingerie on the red carpet in a sheer mini-dress, complete with gem patterns, a sheer lacy train, and fishnet boots that really drive the coquette-ish look home.

Oops!... She Did It Again

Like Spears, Lively embraced the exposed bra trend once again. On June 14, the actor attended a Book Bonanza event in Texas, wearing a button-up black dress with sheer sleeves. While the bottom half was filled with colorful floral embroidery, her collar was left unbuttoned so her satin bra could be part of the look.

Macy Gray and Britney Spears didn’t hit it off in awkward studio meeting

Macy Gray admits she didn't "really hit it off" with Britney Spears after she interrupted her studio session.

The "I Try" hitmaker was recording in the same studio as Britney when the "Toxic" singer rode into the room on a skateboard, but the 56-year-old star's fandom made for an awkward exchange.

"She was in the room down the hall and we looked up and all of a sudden she was skating into our room," Macy recalled during an appearance on Australia's "The Project."

"We talked for a little bit, we didn't really hit it off. I'm still a groupie to this day. I'm sitting there with Britney Spears, you know, I kinda stuttered, I didn't know what to say.

"And then she kinda rolled her eyes, whatever I said, she was kinda annoyed by it and she left."

Despite the uncomfortable meeting, Macy is still a huge admirer of the 42-year-old pop star, and she listens to her 2007 album Blackout before she goes on stage.

"Best album ever – one of them, anyway," Gray said.

As well as the lead single "Gimme More," the record also features hits like "Piece of Me" and "Break The Ice."

Macy picked "Radar" as her favorite song on the LP, and revealed how the collection as a whole gives her "courage" before she steps out on stage to perform.

Pondering why she is so drawn to the LP, she added: "I dunno, it's just – let's go, you know? It gives me a little bit of courage.

We all have that little thing that makes you go. For some people it's just coffee, for me it's the Blackout album!"

For Macy, this year marks 25 years since her debut album "On How Life Is" topped the charts in Australia and New Zealand as well as the UK R+B rankings, while its second single "I Try" was number one in Australia, New Zealand and Ireland.

Asked when she knew it was a hit, she said: "I was actually in England and I was touring, my manager called and he said, 'Your album is number one." I said, 'What does that mean?'

"And he said, 'That means they listen to your song more than anybody else's.' And then I got to New York at that was the first time I got mobbed."

Britney Spears' "Gimme More" is one of her most famous songs, but it didn't produce one of her most popular music videos. In her memoir, Spears said she had some major issues with the clip. Regardless, one could argue that "Gimme More" influenced other pop stars like Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Lana Del Rey.

Spears gave us some of the most iconic music videos ever, such as "…Baby One More Time," "Toxic," and "Womanizer." Not all of her music videos were winners. Her clip for "Gimme More" is a lot less elaborate than her best work. In "Gimme More," Spears plays an exotic dancer, but rather than dancing, she mostly walks around a stripper pole while camera angles try to make her look like she's busting a move.

In her 2023 memoir The Woman in Me, Spears acknowledged that she took a different approach to "Gimme More" than her previous videos. "After years of being meticulous, trying to please my mom and my dad, it was my time to say 'F*** you,'" she recalled. "I quit doing business the way I always had before. I started doing videos on the street myself. I would go into bars with a friend, and the friend would just bring a camera, and that's how we shot 'Gimme More.'"

Britney Spears doesn't like anything about the music video

The "I'm a Slave 4 U" singer had some regrets. "To be clear, I'm not saying I'm proud of it," she said. "'Gimme More' is by far the worst video I've ever shot in my life. I don't like it at all — it's so tacky.

"It looks like we only spent three thousand dollars to shoot it," she added. "And yet, even though it was bad, it worked for what it was. And the more I started going and doing things myself, the more interesting people started noticing and wanting to work with me. I wound up randomly finding really good people, just by word of mouth."

The music video for "Gimme More" isn't great, but it started a trend. Since then, several pop stars have played exotic dancers in music videos. Examples include Beyoncé in "Partition," Rihanna in "Pour It Up," and Lana Del Rey in the short film Tropico. Spears' simple concept turned out to be easy to mimic.

'Gimme More' was the most popular song on a classic album

"Gimme More" reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, staying on the chart for 20 weeks. The track appeared on the record Blackout. That record is often considered the best of Spears' career and a classic pop album.

While critics and fans love Blackout, it didn't produce any top 10 singles besides "Gimme More." The other singles from the album were "Piece of Me" and "Break the Ice." The former reached No. 18 and the latter reached No. 43. The singles from Blackout weren't all juggernauts, so the album lost the battle. But it won the war. Nowadays, everyone recognizes Blackout's brilliance and influence on other artists like Fergie and Lady Gaga.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Jennifer Levine, who has not treated Britney, said the star "always had cellulite."

"From looking at the new photographs, Britney has a problem with cellulite like all women have," Levine told The U.S. Sun.

"The sunlight was coming from above at Van Nuys, making the cellulite more visible.

"Britney has worked hard to get on track and was photographed at an unflattering angle.

"But Britney appears to have always had some cellulite on the front part of her anterior thigh.

A crowd went wild when Britney Spears sang Michael Jackson's 'The Way You Make Me Feel'

In her 2023 memoir The Woman in Me, Spears discussed one of her most iconic moments. "The next night at Madison Square Garden in New York City, just days before September 11, I performed a duet of 'The Way You Make Me Feel' with Michael Jackson to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of his solo career," she wrote. "In my heels, I prowled all over that stage. The audience went crazy. At one point it felt like the whole crowd of 20,000 was singing along with us."

Spears said the performance was part of a time in her life when everything was going great. She was incredibly famous and the world was deeply interested in her. Spears performing with the King of Pop felt like a passing of the torch. While Jackson ruled pop music for decades, Spears and her contemporaries such as Justin Timberlake, the Backstreet Boys, and Christina Aguilera were going to define the genre for the 2000s. The new generation of stars kept Jackson's influence alive and well with their carefully crafted beats and choreographed music videos.

Britney Spears was far from the only reason the song is iconic

"The Way You Make Me Feel" might not be as flashy as "Thriller," as emotional as "Human Nature," or as singular as "Billie Jean," but it's still a classic. The tune blends the old and the new to become one of Jackson's best love songs. The track will still sound fresh in 50 years.

During a 2017 interview with Billboard, drummer John Robinson explained what he thought about "The Way You Make Me Feel." "I definitely knew that 'The Way You Make Me Feel' was going to be a hit. I think when you — and it's something that I've always done, since I've played on thousands of hit records — if you can get a little kid whistling the melody as they're skipping down the street, that's what you want. Everyone can sing this melody. It's a happy-go-lucky song, it feels good, it's still got a bit of that modern electronic thing."

"The Way You Make Me Feel" topped the Billboard Hot 100 for a single week. The song lasted on the chart for 18 weeks. The tune appeared on Bad, which many fans consider the King of Pop's best record. Bad was No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for six weeks, staying on the chart for 171 weeks in total.

Britney Spears’ 5 Worst Songs

Britney Spears' worst songs are sometimes inexplicable. For example, she once contributed a track to a Smurfs movie that makes no sense. Her attempt to work with fellow pop star Rihanna was also regrettable.

5. 'S&M'

In 2011, Spears' music was hotter than it'd been in a long time, thanks to her album Femme Fatale, which includes her hits "Hold It Against Me," "Till the World Ends," "I Wanna Go," and "Criminal." Meanwhile, Rihanna was having a career-high point as well, thanks to the popularity of her dance record Loud.

A collaboration between these two titans of pop seemed like a surefire hit and it was. Spears appeared on a remix of "S&M" that topped the Billboard Hot 100 for a single week. Sadly, Spears' vocal performance is indescribably awful.

4. 'Ooh La La'

The chorus of "Ooh La La" is "Ooh my, my baby don't be shy / I see that spark flashing in your eye / My heart beats fast 'cause I want it all / So baby come with me and be my ooh la, la." Those lyrics needed to be rewritten a few more times.

Spears doesn't help. She sounds disinterested on the track, perhaps because she knows this tune was written for The Smurfs 2. She gave the franchise a song of the caliber that it deserves.

3. 'Radar'

Writing a song about someone being on your radar because they're so hot is a half-baked idea. The problem with "Radar" is the sheer repetitiveness of it. Spears sings "on my radar" so many times that the phrase loses all meaning.

"Womanizer" is similarly repetitive but at least Spears delivers that track with a wink and a smile, so it almost works on a camp level. Meanwhile, she sings "Radar" with the passion of someone reading the phone book. It makes sense that Spears worked with Rihanna because "Radar" is a lesser mutation of "SOS."

2. 'Perfume'

Sia is a great artist. However, the tunes she writes for other artists tend to be terrible. Songs like Rihanna's "Diamonds" and Flo Rida's "Wild Ones" are disposable pop hits that don't live up to the standards Sia set up for herself. "Perfume" is even worse than those tunes, as it can't find a melody to save its life.

It's a song about Spears wanting to get her perfume on her lover so that her mistress will smell it. She sings that this move is marking her territory. This track is based on a forced metaphor that was probably designed to sell Spears' fragrances.

1. 'Mind Your Business'

Given her life, Spears has every right to tell everyone to mind their business. She's repeatedly criticized the tabloid press, such as in the music videos for "Everytime" and "Piece of Me." Mind Your Business" reuses this theme, but Spears sounds like she recorded her vocals during one take while she was half-asleep.

Will.i.am doesn't help anything with a grating Black Eyed Peas-type beat. Spears has worked with great collaborators, such as Max Martin, Madonna, and Keri Hilson. She shouldn't make the mistake of working with Will.i.am again.

Britney Spears has not been focused on her music career lately. The pop singer has largely stepped away from making new art since her conservatorship came to an end, but that doesn't mean the public isn't still consuming the songs that made her a global phenomenon.

The superstar reaches a special milestone in the U.K. this week with what has turned out to be her most successful album ever—at least in that part of the world. The title's ongoing performance shows just how much the public still loves her, and it proves that her hits are continuing to stand the test of time.

Spears' The Singles Collection is celebrating three full years on the U.K. albums chart. The title has now racked up 156 stays on the list of the most-consumed full-lengths and EPs in the nation, which is one of the largest music markets in the world.

The compilation reaches that milestone as it returns to the tally. The Singles Collection reappears at No. 98 on the competitive albums chart.

In the past, Spears' greatest hits set has managed to climb as high as No. 38. That's actually pretty low for a project that's now spent three years on the chart.

While The Singles Collection had to make its way back to the U.K. albums chart in order to reach that three year milestone, it hasn't been gone for very long. The set was last on this ranking in June of this year, so it only very recently fell away.

The Singles Collection is Spears' first title to make it to 156 weeks on the U.K. ranking. It's one of just two efforts from the pop star to accrue triple-digit frames on the roster. Her debut full-length, ...Baby One More Time, has managed just under two full years—103 weeks—so far.

"Obviously a reconciliation/reunification is somewhat complex and can be a process that takes some time," Kevin Federline's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan tells Page Six.

"And the phone call was a good sign and a step in the right direction, but it's a process that takes more than just a phone call to accomplish," he adds.

Kaplan denies reports that the Princess of Pop flew to Hawaii to physically reunite with her boys, 18-year-old Sean Preston and 17-year-old Jayden James, whom she shares with Federline.

"While Kevin supports the boys having a relationship with their mother and is glad that the boys did finally have a phone conversation with her around Mother's Day, the reports that she flew to Hawaii and met with them are inaccurate," he tells us.

Reps for Spears did not immediately respond to Page Six's request for comment.

Sean and Jayden moved to Hawaii with Federline and his wife Victoria Prince, plus their two children — Peyton, 10, and Jordan, 12 — in 2023. At the time, Page Six confirmed that Spears, 42, did not object to the move.

In June 2023, Federline, 46, denied that he relocated to the popular vacation destination to take advantage of a legal loophole that would extend Spears' child support obligations.

Instead, Prince reportedly received a job offer at a university, while the former backup dancer had DJing opportunities.

The "Toxic" hitmaker has an infamously rocky relationship with her sons, who have mainly resided with their father over the years.

In May 2023, TMZ reported the threesome hadn't gotten together in "well over a year" because Sean and Jayden were unhappy about Spears' bold social media activity.

In 2022, Jayden said in an interview that he and his brother have not seen their famous mother in months.

"I just want her to get better mentally. When she gets better, I really want to see her again," he noted.

He also said he was open to mending their relationship but cautioned it would take "a lot of time and effort."

After the interview aired, Spears ripped Jayden apart for talking about their relationship publicly and claiming she "struggled" as a mother.

"Kevin was not involved in the conservatorship, and he was not an agent of the conservator or anybody on that side of the probate case," Kaplan told Page Six in Novemebr 2021.

"Things he did, he did because he thought he had to do that for the sake of the health and well-being of the kids. Kevin has never threatened anything in that regard."

Britney Spears Claims She ‘Cut All My Hair Off’ In New Instagram Video

Singer Britney Spears claims that she cut off all of her hair in a new Instagram video shared after fans came to her defense.

Several paparazzi photos have gone viral online, apparently showing the Princess of Pop walking around outside with visible cellulite on her legs. The "Circus" singer later took the paparazzi to task in an Instagram post showing what she really looked like without cellulite.

It appears that she may be looking to switch up her look, however, as she recently told her followers that she cut off "all" of her hair.

Did Britney Spears Really Cut Off All Of Her Hair?

On Sunday, June 30, Britney shared an Instagram video that featured her wearing a white top and shorts. She plays with her wavy blonde hair, fluffing it around her face.

"Cut all my hair off and I think I'm going shorter ?????? !!!" she wrote in the caption. At this time, it's unclear if she pulled out the scissors to cut her hair shorter after filming this video.

In 2007, the "Criminal" singer made headlines when she shaved her head months before her conservatorship started. In her memoir "The Woman In Me," which was published in October 2023, the pop star opened up on why she decided to cut her hair.

"I'd been eyeballed so much growing up. I'd been looked up and down and had people telling me what they thought of my body since I was a teenager. Shaving my head and acting out were my ways of pushing back," she wrote in an excerpt published by People magazine.

She went on to explain that she was no longer given control over how she looked once she entered into a court-ordered conservatorship in February 2008. "I was made to understand that those days were now over," she wrote. "I had to grow my hair out and get back into shape. I had to go to bed early and take whatever medication they told me to take."

In 2007, Britney walked into Esther's Haircutting Studio in Tarzana, California, and asked that they shave her head. After the owner, Esther Tognozzi, refused to do so, the pop star grabbed the clippers herself and started shaving her head while paparazzi snapped photos through the window.

Shortly after her memoir was published in October 2023, her former assistant Sean Phillip spoke to the Daily Mail about working with the Princess of Pop. "For me personally, I did see a sad person… I was worried for her, I felt protective of her at the time," Sean said. "It wasn't a job anymore. It was protection in a friendship kind of way."

Sean claims that, following the incident, he drove Britney to a mental health facility in order to get her help. However, Sean said that Britney refused to go in. "We were told that she was being sued by her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, and that we had to take her to a facility and she agreed to go to a facility and we went," he recalled. "But she had to check herself in voluntarily and when we got there, she didn't want to do it and nobody could make her do it."

Upon first listen, Spears' "3" might sound like a Sesame Street tune about counting. In actuality, it's about three human beings having sex with each other. It's no "WAP," but, as far as pop singles go, it's still pretty daring.

Spears uses a weird metaphor in the song. She compared the three sex partners to the folk trio Peter, Paul and Mary. Considering Peter, Paul and Mary were a G-rated group, it's unclear why the group has anything to do with the song.

The song's producer said Britney Spears is a genius

"3" was one of many Spears tunes produced by Max Martin, the songwriter behind many hits from the past 25 years. He's worked with the Backstreet Boys, Adele, Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, and many others. During a 2019 interview with The Guardian, he lauded Spears. "She's a genius," he said. "So much had happened to her in that [early period] and she had to grow up quickly. We had conversations with her about what she wanted to do and what she wanted to say."

Martin wanted people to be softer on celebrities like Spears. "I think we all should be grateful [to the artists]," he said. "It's easy for us to say that they become these rich, spoilt divas — and I'm not talking about Britney specifically, just in general — but we forget that these artists go out into the world and work and tour and become super-famous for our enjoyment. And then we watch their lives fall apart in front of our eyes for doing something amazing."

Martin didn't want to be one of those producers who treated their artists like puppets. "I don't want to think I'm one of them," Martin said. "We try and do our best to make [the studio environment] diverse, welcoming and inclusive. Let's try and inform and be role models as much as possible in our world and hopefully it will spread."

'3' didn't chart the way that it could have

It would have been fitting if "3" had reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, but it hit No. 1 for a single week. The tune lasted on the chart for 20 weeks, making it one of the most popular singles of Spears' career. "3" might not be as well-remembered as "… Baby One More Time" and "Oops!… I Did It Again" today, but it was trendy and inescapable in 2009.

"3" did not appear on a studio album. Instead, it appeared on Spears' The Singles Collection. That record reached No. 22 on the Billboard 200 and stayed on the chart for 13 weeks. The Singles Collection includes essential Spears tracks such as "Toxic," "If U Seek Amy," and "Me Against the Music." It shows that Spears' first decade in music was filled with memorable moments and classic dance beats.

"3" is a great song and it deserves to return to the limelight.
