Los Angeles, Aug 30 (IANS): Actress Emma Roberts has reacted to the rumours about being cast in pop star Britney Spears biopic.
After Spearsâ assistant suggested the actress play her in a feature adaptation of the singerâs memoir âThe Woman In Meâ, Roberts seems more than prepared to take on the portrayal, explaining that sheâs been preparing for at least 20 years.
âI was like, I love her assistant,â she told Cosmo, reports deadline.com.
âI mean, itâs my true dream to play Britney Spears. Itâs a rumor, but I hope maybe itâll come true. I mean, I remember I locked myself in my room and listened to In the Zone and said, âI cannot leave this room until I memorise every word.'â
She added of her love for Spears: âI mean, I sing Britney to my son in the bath all the time. Iâm always like, âGod, he must think Iâm so weird.â Thatâs some millennial parenting.â
Spearsâ longtime assistant Felicia Culotta earlier suggested Roberts take on the role as she told TMZ the actressâ child stardom on âUnfabulousâ parallels Spearsâ own adolescence on the âThe All-New Mickey Mouse Clubâ.
Culotta also suggested Timothée Chalamet play Spearsâ ex Justin Timberlake, and Drew Barrymore as the personal assistant herself, who has been working with Spears since 1997.
The actress is known for her work in the horror and thriller genres that have established her as a scream queen. Roberts made her acting debut in the crime film âBlowâ in 2001. She went on to star in several films such as âAquamarineâ, âNancy Drewâ, âWild Childâ, âHotel For Dogsâ, âValentineâs Dayâ, âIt's Kind of a Funny Storyâ and âThe Art of Getting Byâ to name a few.
