Britney extinguished the cigarette after flight attendants asked her to, but police were still called. On the ground, she was met by authorities, who warned her for smoking on the plane before she was released.

Britney addressed the situation on Instagram, saying she was unaware she couldn't smoke on that particular plane. "Some planes I've been on you can't smoke mostly but this one was different because the drink holders were on outside of seat !!!" she wrote alongside a video of her sitting on a private plane.

Now, Britney realizes that wasn't the case, and she apologized to anyone she offended.

"I do so apologize to anyone I offended," she wrote, while simultaneously saying she felt the staff had "kinda" overreacted.

"The flight attendant called officials because I smoked a cigarette !!! And embarrass me," she said, "which jeez I thought was kinda much but she didn't like me the moment I got on plane !!! Nobody was on the plane for first 20 minutes and she wouldn't let me get out of my seat I wanted to stand up !!! She acted so weird about making sure I sat down and it was weird !!!"

Britney also said she felt the flight attendant had "invaded [her] space" with "the way she put the seatbelt on me."

But "Oh well," she wrote before proceeding to change the subject.

Meanwhile, a source told People: "This is not her first warning. She doesn't exactly follow the rules."

Luckily, this didn't escalate any further. Don't smoke on planes, people!
