Britney Spears’ Family Reportedly ‘Hurt’ by Her Scathing Post: ‘Thought Things Were Getting Better’

Britney Spears' family is seemingly upset with the singer's recent remarks.

In an article published by the Daily Mail on Tuesday, December 30, two of the 44-year-old pop star's family members shared how they and others felt after she slammed her loved ones in an Instagram post on Sunday, December 28.

"The punch landed," one source shared. "It was hurtful and came out of nowhere. It was like a sucker punch to the gut. And during the holidays, too."

The source noted that the post "hurt" Britney's sister, Jamie Lynn, an d mother, Lynne, "the most."

"They thought things were getting better with her, that maybe there was some reconciliation happening," the source explained. "So to be put on blast like that was a surprise, especially when they didn't feel that anything bad happened.'

A second insider echoed a similar sentiment, telling the outlet, "It just hurts. But it is what it is. I'm sorry she feels that way, but she has everyone's number and can pick up the phone and talk to anyone in the family, rather than posting something like that for the public to see and have an opinion about."

"She reaches out when she wants to, and she keeps her distance when she wants to," the insider added. "And she often chooses to make her point publicly rather than privately."

The first source also shared insight into why the "Toxic" singer — who shares sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, with ex-husband Kevin Federline — only spent Christmas with Jayden, as Sean spent the holidays with Jamie Lynn and Lynn in Louisiana.

"Sean is close with his cousins, and wanted to see them," the source remarked. "He was in Louisiana a nyway because of another commitment, so it just made sense for him to spend time with his grandmother, aunt and extended family. That shouldn't be too controversial."

In the Grammy winner's scathing Sunday Instagram post, she made it clear she was unhappy with her family's actions but did not get into specifics.

"Merry late Christmas to my beautiful family who have never disrespected me, harmed me, ever done anything completely unacceptable or caused unbelievable trauma, the kind you can't fix," she captioned a photo of a Christmas tree.

"To my dear sweet innocent family … so so sorry I was busy this Christmas but I will definitely show up and surprise you soon … I can't wait …. hello, beautiful Ivy … I just want to hold you, my love … Godspeed, friends," she concluded.
