Pop icon Britney Spears has sold the rights to her music catalogue, including many of her biggest hits, in a major deal with the music publisher Primary Wave.
The 44-year-old — known for chart-toppers like …Baby One More Time, Oops!… I Did It Again and Toxic — signed the agreement on 30 December 2025, giving Primary Wave control of her ownership share of the catalogue. The exact financial terms have not been officially disclosed, but sources familiar with the deal told US media it's valued in the nine-figure range, around $200 million.
Primary Wave, a New York-based music publisher, also owns rights to catalogs by major artists such as Whitney Houston, Bob Marley and Prince, and has been expanding its roster of iconic music catalogues.
Spears rose to global fame in the late 1990s and early 2000s and has released nine studio albums during her career. She was released from a lengthy conservatorship in 2021 and has largely stepped back from performing and recording new music in recent years.
The sale places Spears alongside other legendary artists who have monetised their music rights in recent years, reflecting a broader trend in the industry where major catalogues are traded as valuable long-term assets.
