Britney Spears Has Been ‘Spiraling’ Ever Since Conservatorship Ended, Arrest Was ‘a Cry for Help’

Oops, she's done it again. At 9:30 p.m. March 4, Britney Spears was taken into custody for an alleged DUI following a nearly hour-long pursuit on California's Highway 101.

The 44-year-old was observed driving her 2026 black BMW erratically. According to TMZ, Spears' "chemical test results are pending." The pop star is due in court May 4. Her rep called the incident "unfortunate" and "completely unacceptable," adding, "Hopefully, this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney's life."

A source tells Star the troubled mom of two has been "spiraling" since the end of her 13-year conservatorship in 2021. "A lot of people in her world are saying the best path for her right now is rehab. There's a feeling this was a cry for help."
