Britney Spears is focused on her sobriety and mental health after her difficult month. On March 4, the pop star was hospitalized after being pulled over for an alleged DUI, TMZ reported. Now, she's taking the right steps to maintain her emotional well-being and relationship with her sons.
Britney Spears' Sobriety Journey RevealedSpears has been regularly attending AA meetings, the Daily Mail reported. She kick-started her journey with openness and honesty.
According to the outlet, Spears has been three-weeks sober since her DUI arrest. The 44-year-old is serious about her sobriety. She stopped drinking alcohol and has been sharing her journey to sobriety at AA meetings in Los Angeles.
"Britney has been very open and honest in her AA meetings, she said she loves pouring her heart out as she knows that is the best way to heal and feel better," the insider told The Daily Mail.
That source went on to describe Spears's preferred drink: "fancy coffee drinks." The "Gimme More" star doesn't want alcohol to impact her relationship with her sons.
In her memoir, "The Woman In Me," Spears wrote that they mean everything to her. She even dedicated the tell-all to her sons, whom she described as "the loves of my life," as reported by The Tab.
Quality Time With Sean Preston and Jayden JamesThe other positive change in Spears's life is that she's been spending quality time with her sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline.
"She is very happy that they are close again, it is healing her heart, she loves her sons," the source noted.
Spears has attended AA meetings in the past. In her 2023 memoir, she shared that she had to attend four meetings per week throughout her 13-year conservatorship.
Unfortunately, the meetings weren't as positive during those times. Spears revealed that her father, Jamie Spears, controlled her mental health and therapy sessions.
She went along with the conservatorship so that she could see her sons. "My freedom in exchange for naps with my children — it was a trade I was willing to make. And so I went along with it," Spears wrote.
Earlier this month, Spears's representative said that she needed "help and support." They called the alleged DUI incident "unfortunate" but "inexcusable."
"Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney's life," a representative for the pop star said at the time.
In the meantime, Spears has gotten plenty of support from fans, who hope she gets the right kind of support she needs.
