LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Britney Spears arrives at Clive Davis and The Recording Academy’s 2012 Salute To Industry Icons Gala at The Beverly Hilton hotel, Beverly Hills, on February 11, 2012Caption Britney Spears arrives at Clive Davis and The Recording Academy’s 2012 Salute To Industry Icons Gala at The Beverly Hilton hotel, Beverly Hills, on February 11, 2012Is Britney Spears set to officially take her seat at “The X Factor” judges’ table next week?

According to TMZ, the pop superstar is heading to New York City to personally appear at the FOX Upfront presentation in The Big Apple for the announcement on Monday.

If all goes as planned, the “X Factor” contract â€" reportedly a $15 million payday for the star â€" will not be signed by Britney, as she’s still under a conservatorship, the website reports. Instead, co-conservators Jamie Spears (Brit’s father) and Jason Trawick (her fiancé) will sign on the dotted line on her behalf.

While FOX, the network that airs “The X Factor,” has remained mum for months regarding the rumored addition of Britney to the reality competition show, back in February, Simon Cowell told Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush for “The Billy Bush Show” how intrigued he was by the pop princess.

“I’m fascinated by [Britney.] The fact that she’s one of the most talked about â€" not just pop stars â€" but people in the world today, means that you’ve got this star power,” Simon told Billy when asked about the rumors of Britney joining the show â€" stressing at the time, that he could neither confirm nor deny who he and the show’s producers had spoken with.

“This girl has got resilience,” he added. “I would think that if she’s managed to sustain a family, a career, which is tough, [‘X Factor’ would be] a walk in the park.”
