Pop star Miley Cyrus could fill one of two openings for celebrity judges on 'The X Factor.'
Miley Cyrus may soon make âThe Climbâ back into television.
The 19-year-old former Disney Channel star is in talks to join Foxâs âThe X-Factorâ as a judge, Celebuzz.com reported.
âThere have been talks with Miley,â an insider with the reality singing competition show told the gossip website.
There are at least two openings for judges on âThe X Factorâ because Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger, as well as host Steve Jones, were fired from the show in January. Producer Simon Cowell has been searching for some big names to join him and compete with his former show, âAmerican Idol,â and NBCâs upstart âThe Voice,â each of which boasts celebrity singers in the judging seats.
Britney Spears is reportedly nearing a contract to join âThe X-Factorâ for $15 million a season.
Cyrus, however, is just the latest of several rumors linking bold-faced names to Cowellâs show. Producers have apparently also considered Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Pink and Whitney Houston, before her death in February.
Cowell could use the boost coming from a pop megastar who has sold more than 10 million copies of an album twice.
The former âAmerican Idolâ fixture predicted the Americanized version of his popular British show âThe X Factorâ would draw 20 million or more viewers in its debut season last fall.
It didnât, averaging closer to 12 million.
