Britney Spears Battling ADHD? - Showbiz Spy

Posted by Adam

BRITNEY Spears has ADHD.

The singer apparently can’t take medication for her Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder â€" which is why she has walked off set on a number of occasions while judging auditions on her first of The X Factor in the US.

“Britney was diagnosed with ADHD in her teens and used to take medication for it,” a source said.

“The medication helped her deal with it, however, she can’t take it now because it interferes with the other medications she takes for her mental health issues.

“Britney’s current team of doctors strictly prohibit her from taking Adderall or Ritalin, which are commonly given to people with ADHD.

“Britney’s medical team works with her to deal with her disorder without medication and daily vigorous exercise is what often works best for her.

“Her nutrition is closely monitored and so is her caffeine intake, because that can also enhance Britney’s inability to focus.

“Of course, it’s rather disconcerting for people that see her do it for the first time but it’s truly nothing to be alarmed at. In fact, Simon Cowell would have been surprised if she hadn’t taken breaks during judging last week, this means she is involved and engaged in the process.”

Recent reports claimed Spears’ stint on the show is causing her to come “undone”.

“For her, it’s all an input as stress,” a source told Us Weekly. “This is a lot of change at once for Britney. She’s coming undone.

“Jason and Britney’s family wouldn’t let her do X Factor if she couldn’t handle it.

“At first they weren’t going to let her because she couldn’t do live TV â€" they didn’t know what she would say. But they went over it with Britney, and they trust her.

“The network is using Christina Aguilera on The Voice as an argument for her.

“They’re saying the show needs a bankable pop star who will get viewers watching, whether they think she’s ridiculous of they love her. It’s definitely about tapping into Spears’ fan base.

“She wants to do a good job. There is always apprehension about something you haven’t done before, but she’s looking forward to proving all the doubters wrong.”
