Britney, who joined the X Factor judging panel last month despite speculation that she might be replacing Jennifer Lopez on American Idol, has apparently been taking breaks from judging duties just days into the auditions.
The Hit Me Baby One More Time singer has suffered from ADHD since she was younger and is now having to take time out from the demanding schedule of The X Factor in order to cope, according to Radar Online.
A source told the website: 'Britney was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in her teens and used to take medication for it.
'Britney's current team of doctors strictly prohibit her from taking Adderall or Ritalin, which are commonly given to people with ADHD.'

The website goes on to explain that Brtiney's new boss Simon Cowell is understanding of the problem and has allowed the star to leave the set and take a break when she needs to.
'Simon was made fully aware of Britney's medical history before the contract was signed,' the insider added. 'It's not alarming to Simon at all and he is fully supportive of Britney doing whatever she needs to do during filming.
'Simon would have been surprised if she hadn't taken breaks during judging last week, this means she is involved and engaged in the process.'
Both Britney and co-judge Demi Lovato have suffered from personal and health problems in the past.Â

Demi, 19, entered rehab last year after admitting she was suffering from anorexia, bulimia and self-harming issues and earlier this week, she revealed that she still has to work hard to conquer her demons.
She told Cosmopolitan: 'Itâs a daily thing; you donât get time off from it. And if I feel myself slipping back into old patterns, I have to ask others for help, which is hard for me to learn, because I really like doing everything on my own.
The X Factor USA auditions are currently under way and are expected to air on Fox later in the summer.
