Idle 'Idol'
Will you continue to watch 'American Idol' without Steven Tyler or Jennifer Lopez?
Brother, can you spare an "American Idol" judge?
With the back-to-back exits of Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez over the past two days - and the possible departure of original judge Randy Jackson - the singing competition show needs to reel in some big replacements quickly.
âIdolâ has already survived the loss of original cranky-pants Simon Cowell, who defected to start an American version of âThe X-Factor,â which has upped the stakes by signing up Britney Spears and Demi Lovato as judges. Another upstart, âThe Voiceâ has made major ratings inroads by riding the big-name panel of Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.

With the next season of the âIdolâ set to premiere on Fox in September, producers donât have long to find the next set of judgmental celebrities - especially since Katy Perry officially declared sheâs unavailable.
To make their jobs easier, the News takes a look at some of the favorites (and the ones who should be favorites):

Presumed front-runner Mariah Carey is reportedly in talks with 'American Idol'
Mariah Carey: The reported front-runner for one of the empty judges seats, the 42-year-old diva would provide one of the few A-list names big enough to replace J.Lo and eclipse Spears on "The X-Factor."
Miley Cyrus: While the 19-year-old newly engaged pop star is plugging away at an acting career, Cyrus has been the subject of rumors linking her to "American Idol." Signing her would also be the perfect counterpart to "The X-Factor's" signing of fellow ex-Disney Channel star Demi Lovato.

Miley Cyrus may be ready to make The Climb into a regular judging gig.
Adam Lambert: The former "American Idol" runner-up may have come in second during his season as a competitor, but he'd get our vote to fill a judge seat. The 30-year-old crooner would add pizzazz and an example for the next generation of wannabe "Idols." "They have been talking about Adam for over a month," a source told E! News. "He personifies the show, and will be a popular choice right from the start."
Carrie Underwood: Another former "American Idol" alum - and a winner at that - the 29-year-old Underwood could bring good ratings from the country crowd.

Former 'American Idol' champ Carrie Underwood would add a little bit of country the show.
Jon Bon Jovi: Perfectly coiffed for the cameras, the 50-year-old Bon Jovi frontman would provid a little bit of rock n' roll to replace the outgoing Tyler.
