Transsexual Kara Hays, who was born as Kody, had the surgery in 2002 and also had breast implants to complete the transformation.

The 26-year-old even claims she shaved her head after suffering a mental breakdown in 2007 at the same time as the 31-year-old singer.

Kara said that before the change Kody was often mistaken for a girl.

“When people told me they could see Britney in me, it was a huge compliment,” the Mirror quoted her as saying.

“I viewed her as a very strong woman. Everybody wanted to date her,” she said.

The aspiring actress, from Ohio, US, suffered from severe depression as a child and once went to a school party in Spear’s red skin-tight costume aged 12.

The admission resulted in a huge uproar in his tiny Bible-belt town in Ohio, USA.

His parents allowed him to see a doctor at the age of 15, and he was diagnosed with gender dysphoria in 1999 and began taking female hormones.

Over the next few years he sprouted breasts, began to dress freely as a woman and changed his name to Kara.

In 2002 Kara underwent a gruelling 14-hour gender reassignment surgery and breast implant surgery.

She has so far spent around 60,000 pounds dying her hair blonde and modelling herself on her idea of perfection, which is Britney Spears.

“Once I changed, school went perfectly normally,” she added.
