Katie Holmes hinted at big changes in Elle magazine - Detroit Free Press

Katie Holmes might have shocked Tom Cruise when she filed for divorce from the box-office superstar last week, but an interview she gave Elle magazine back in May offers some hints suggesting that the former "Dawson's Creek" actress was contemplating a big change.

"I definitely feel much more comfortable in my own skin. I feel sexier," she says in the interview, which will appear in the magazine's August issue (due out July 17). "I think in my 20s, it's like you're trying too hard to figure everything out. I'm starting to come into my own. It's like a new phase."

Ohio native Holmes was 26 when she and Cruise, now 50, went public with their romance in 2005. They married a year later.

"He has been Tom Cruise for 30 years," she says. "I know who I am and where I am and where I want to go, so I want to focus on that."

Holmes adds that though her main priority is the couple's daughter, Suri, 6, she's looking forward to more professional opportunities, even if there are some challenges along the way.

"Things are not handed to anyone," she says. "If anything, you work a little bit harder when you're in such visible circumstances."

Britney Spears demo leaked

Singer Don Philip isn't too thrilled with Britney Spears after she and the other "X Factor" judges dismissed him from the show's competition. Philip, who used to be a backup singer for the pop tart-turned-talent evaluator, put Spears' unreleased 2010 track "Pleasure You" on his SoundCloud page Wednesday, Digital Spy reports.

Philip explained on his Facebook page that his decision to drop the song online to get back at Spears followed the emotional reunion he had with the singer during an "X Factor" audition in San Francisco.

"Back to real life ... all my demons released ... I totally crocked when the pressure was on ... at least I didn't shave my head," he wrote. "My vocal (cords) tightened up like a snake around a mouse."

The second season of the U.S. edition of "The X Factor" debuts Sept. 12 on Fox.

More Details: Singer Frank Ocean says his first love was a man

R&B singer Frank Ocean, 24, who has collaborated with Jay-Z and Kanye West, created a stir this week when he revealed that his first love was a man.

"By the time I realized I was in love, it was malignant. It was hopeless," Ocean wrote on his Tumblr blog. "There was no escaping, no negotiating with the feeling."

In a post on his Global Grind website, hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons called Ocean's revelation monumental.

Ocean, whose debut solo album, "Channel Orange," is due July 17, is scheduled to play St. Andrew's Hall in Detroit on Aug. 1.
