New 'X factor' promo shows brutally honest Britney Spears - Tulsa World

In a newly released promo for the reality TV series, the 30-year-old pop princess is seen admonishing contestants and telling them straight away "You can't destroy that song, sweetie" and calling a performance "predictable."

As if coached by Cowell, she tells one contestant "You definitely don't have the X factor."

Cowell is best known for his brutal honesty, eye-rolling and, at times, undisguised disdain for some contestants’ abilities on both this reality singing competition and on his former series "American Idol."

He has made glowing remarks about Spears as a judge, telling the press for months that she is "smart," "fearless" and a "tougher judge" than he is, according to examiner.com.

But reports have surfaced from those attending this summer's auditions that she, according to the website, "acts very disconnected from the audience and other ‘X Factor’ judges; she gives dull and predictable commentary; she plays it safe by rarely veering from what the majority of the judges say; and she's the judge on the panel who's the most likely to give a 'yes' vote to a contestant with mediocre talent."

Her salary for one season as a on the series is a reported $15 million.

Spears and pop singer Demi Lovato were hired to replace fired judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger. Cowell and Epic Records chairman/CEO Antonio "L.A." Reid continue to be judges on the show.

"The X Factor" will have a two-night season premiere at 7 p.m. September 12 and 13 on Fox, channel 23, cable 5.

on FOX.
