Britney Spears' ex-husband Kevin Federline has blamed golf ball damage for wrecking the Tarzana, California estate he rented in 2008.
Dancer-turned-reality TV star Federline was sued by his former landlord Joseph Malek in May (12) for rent he reportedly failed to pay and compensation for damage he allegedly caused to the property.
The angry owner claims his former tenant left owing him seven months of rent and $110,000 (£69,000) in damages, but Federline has now hit back at the accusations.
In legal papers obtained by Tmz.com, Federline states, "Damages to the home were actually due to normal wear and tear, and other damages were caused by golf balls hitting the property."
The star goes on to detail a verbal deal he reportedly reached with Malek in 2009, in which he paid $60,000 (£37,500) to cover the missing rent and agreed to let the landlord keep the money he put down for his security deposit - a settlement which he insists "acts as full satisfaction and discharge of these disputes".
Federline is now demanding Malek cover his legal fees and hand over statutory damages, in addition to double the amount of his security deposit.
