The rampant Fifty Shades of Grey movie casting rumors may have not included Britney Spears (yet!), but that doesn't mean that the provocative and controversial pop tart turned X Factor judge doesn't boast her own connection to the risqué read via her music.
The boundaries-pushing pursuits and racy relationship of Christian Grey and the young Anastasia Steele are what keep the pages flipping for the crush of fans who have picked up the popular tome. But it's the rumors of whether, say, Emma Watson or Elizabeth Olsen will play Steele (they won't!) or whether The Vampire Diaries hunk Ian Somerhalder (minus girlfriend Nina Dobrev) or even Ryan Gosling (unexpected!) will go for Grey in the film adaptation of the erotic book that has the gossip mills working in overdrive. Even Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's names have been thrown out there, although since her already-infamous cheating scandal, this couple seems to be an even bigger long shot for the roles than before.
However, aside from the blockbuster big-screen buzz, Huffington Post has highlighted another fascinating angle to 50 Shades of Grey: the soundtrack. Author E.L. James has naturally curated her own playlist for her salty chapters, and it is quite the motley mix of the standard suspects and also some less expected songs.
Not surprisingly, Bruce Springsteen's "I'm On Fire" makes the list. So does Kings of Leon's aptly named "Sex On Fire." Even Ms. Britney Spears gets her moment with "Toxic." After all, what could be more perfect than the lyrics and sultry vibe of this once-chart-topping hit from Spears' sexy saga of her music career?! Notably missing from the lineup, though, is Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance," which seems like another perfect fit.
But also on this soundtrack are some less contemporary sounds of passion--from a rendition of Pachelbel's Canon and Gigue in D Major to Chopin's Preludes and the operatic "La Traviata."
Nothing like adding a bit of a classical edge to the mix of Spears, Springsteen and the rest as the musical background for this not-so-proper page-turner!
