Singer Britney Spears and her husband Sam Asghari are probably not too happy with a new documentary that premiered on Monday night.
The doc, "Britney Spears: The Price of Freedom" focuses on the 41-year-old pop star's life after she was freed of her conservatorship in November 2021 and makes some unflattering accusations against the singer.
Everything You Need To Know From Monday's New Doc About Britney Spears and Sam Asghari Instagram | Donatella VersaceOn Monday night, a new doc called "Britney Spears: The Price of Freedom" dropped on Fox. The feature focuses on life after Britney's conservatorship, which lasted from February 2008 to November 2021. The documentary focuses on her marriage to Sam Asghari, her relationship with her kids, and her mental health.
The feature gave fans an insight into Britney's alleged day-to-day activities. TMZ's executive producer Charles Latibeaudiere claimed that Britney lives in "virtual isolation," adding, "Most of the time, she's at home by herself." The doc also alleged that the singer spends a lot of time "driving aimlessly" around Los Angeles.
TMZ News Director Brad Appleton claimed, "Sometimes she'll drive to a quiet dirt path, park, and just kind of meditate." The new special also alleged that Britney is a "binge-sleeper," saying that she'll sleep for a few days and then won't sleep at all.
Instagram | Britney SpearsHer unusual sleeping habits were alleged to be the result of her "non-stop" caffeine usage, which made headlines last week. The singer allegedly drinks coffee, Red Bull, Celsius, and dandelion tea "by the gallon."
However, Britney shut down those rumors herself on Instagram. "Sorry, but I never stay up late with Red Bull !!! It is absolutely the worst drink ever … I make jewelry, candles, and doll clothes … Okay, so what ???" she wrote. "I may be a loser but I do what makes me feel most alive and gives me interest but I don't like people in media bullying me and saying hateful things."
She added, "Anyways, I'm sticking to watermelon juice, which is the weirdest thing ever but I was told for years I can't have coffee and now that I can it's my pride."
The Special Also Explored Britney's Relationship With Husband, Kids Instagram | Sam AsghariDuring the one-hour special, sources alleged that Britney's relationship with Sam is in "deep trouble" and claim that the singer even got "physical" with her husband on at least one occasion. The insider described Sam as "pretty passive," saying, "He just takes it, but he does get angry."
Despite being described as "passive," other sources said that the two have gotten into screaming matches that security had to be called in to intervene. The feature describes Sam as Britney's "only pillar" since her conservatorship ended. That being said, the doc also claims that Sam doesn't spend much time at home anymore.
After meeting on the set of her "Slumber Party" music video, the two tied the knot at a star-studded ceremony in June 2022. However, the event was not attended by her two sons – Sean Preston, 17, and Jayden James, 16 – who Britney shares with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline.
MEGATMZ Producer Katie Hayes claims, "By the end of the summer [of 2022], tensions got so bad that the boys weren't even responding to her texts and she was furious." Britney's rocky relationship made headlines last year when Jayden told The Daily Mail, "I think Mom has struggled giving us both attention and showing us equal love; I don't think she showed enough to Preston, and I feel really bad for that."
K-Fed also told The Daily Mail that Britney's Instagram posts have caused a rift between her and her two teenage boys. "I try to explain to them, 'Look, maybe that's just another way she tries to express herself.' But that doesn't take away from the fact of what it does to them," he said in a separate interview. "It's tough. I can't imagine how it feels to be a teenager having to go to high school."
Instagram | Britney SpearsThings got so contentious at the former couple that, at one point, K-Fed posted three videos that were allegedly taken by her sons and posted them online. The videos seemed to be taken without her knowledge and served to highlight her "poor" parenting skills.
K-Fed's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, appeared on Monday's documentary, saying, "He did that. I suspect that he wishes he had not." Vincent went on to say, "He really felt at some point in time he had to stand up about what was generated about them by Britney's side."
Instagram | Britney SpearsThat being said, it looks like the family may be trying to resolve their differences. TMZ's executive producer Charles Latibeaudiere claimed, "Recently, there have been occasional texts between Britney and her kids, so maybe the ice is thawing a bit."
"They love their mother, and they hope that the relationship will improve going forward so that everyone is comfortable, but right now, that is a dynamic that doesn't seem to be in existence," Kaplan added.
Sam Asghari Speaks Out Against 'Absolutely Disgusting' DocumentaryOn Sunday night, one day before the new documentary aired, the Iranian actor posted two videos on his Instagram Stories to denounce the latest special made about Britney's life. "The last thing I want to do is speak on my wife's behalf. I would never do that. I respect her privacy," he began. "That's why I don't talk as much and I found it absolutely disgusting for the people that would, in her life at the time, when she didn't have a voice, they went and told her story like it was theirs."
"It was absolutely disgusting. And how are you going to take the most influential person of our generation, the princess of pop, America's sweetheart, and put her in prison, where her father tells her what to do, what water to drink, who to see, and use her as a money-making machine," he continued. "And then, all of a sudden, after fifteen years, when she's free after all those gaslighting, and after all those things that went down, now, you're going to put her under a microscope and tell her story? No. No."
"No, that's also disgusting so don't do that. And don't believe what you read online," he continued in a second Instagram Story.
"Ninety-nine percent of the time, those are all click baits for you to click and for them to make money and that time is over. You know, we're not gonna allow that and that should stop," he concluded. "It should stop. Absolutely. The gaslighting and all that s**t? Gotta stop."
Instagram | Britney SpearsBritney took to Instagram after the special aired, but did not seem to ignore any of the claims directly as she shared a caption about remodeling her house alongside the photo of a rose in a book.
"I'm so excited about this month !!! I'm remodeling 3 rooms in my house !!! I'm actually just getting white paint and going to repaint the rooms myself 🙄🙄🙄 !!! I've never painted a room before so I'm pretty excited … don't laugh 😂 !!!" Britney wrote in the caption.
"My husband has given me free will to do whatever I want 😒🙈😬😬😬 !!! My girlfriend also just redid her bathroom and it's absolutely beautiful !!!" she continued. "Ok so maybe I'm a little competitive lol 😂 !!! She really inspired me !!! So if I'm not as up to date with Instagram … don't worry y'all !!! I'm an interior designer at the moment 😜😜😜 !!!"
