Britney Spears' mother-in-law is recovering after she was rushed to the emergency room over the weekend following a "major accident," according to the pop star's husband, Sam Asghari.
Asghari, 29, announced on his since-expired Instagram story that his mom, Fatima Asghari, had been "involved in a major accident," Entertainment Tonight reported.
The actor on Monday posted a snap with his mother, thanking his 3 million followers "for the love and support" offered "during Mama Asghari's recovery after the accident."
"Sending a huge thank you to the amazing medical staff at Cedars-Sinai ER," continued Asghari. "Moments like these remind us of life's preciousness."
He concluded by saying he'd be taking a breather from social media "to prioritize what truly matters."
Prior to the latest update, Asghari noted that his mother was "doing OK and resting it off" thanks to "the amazing help of the medical staff and some friends."
He did not elaborate on the accident that landed his mother in the hospital nor what injuries she sustained.
Asghari proposed to Spears, 41, in September 2021, five years after they started dating. At that point, the "...Baby One More Time" singer was still under the thumb of father Jamie Spears via a nearly 13-year conservatorship.
The conservatorship was finally terminated by a judge in November 2021, much to the glee of "Free Britney" supporters. The couple wed the following June in a star-studded ceremony attended by the likes of Madonna, Selena Gomez, Donatella Versace and more.
Spears took to Instagram last month to announce the title of her long-awaited memoir, "The Woman in Me," which she said would hit shelves Oct. 24.
