Sam Asghari breaks silence on Britney Spears divorce amid rumors of cheating, domestic violence

Sam Asghari, the soon-to-be ex husband of Britney Spears, apparently had his reasons for splitting from the popstar, according to sources.

After just 14 months of marriage, the 29-year-old actor and model cited "irreconcilable differences" in a filing on Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court. He is seeking spousal support and payment of legal fees by Spears.

Asghari took to social media Thursday afternoon, writing in an Instagram Story: "After 6 years of love and commitment to each other, my wife and I have decided to end our journey together."

"We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always," he continued. "Asking for privacy seems ridiculous so I will just ask for everyone including media to be kind and thoughtful."

Insiders have alleged that Asghari believes the 41-year-old "Toxic" singer committed adultery with a male staffer at their California home. The unnamed sources told TMZ that Asghari moved out of the couple's home in Thousand Oaks after a nasty confrontation. The source claims there's video of Spears and the employee in an "compromising position."

Spears also reportedly attacked her husband while he was asleep. Paparazzi photos taken earlier this year but published this week by TMZ appear to show Asghari with a black eye and a bruise on his arm.

According to the outlet, sources claim Spears has gotten violent with Asghari over the years, with there having been "numerous fights where security has had to step in." The same sources say Britney has had a tendency to "fly off the handle."

Asghari and Spears met in 2016 while she was filming the music video for her song "Slumber Party." Asghari proposed in September 2021, and the couple wed the following June.

Spears was previously married to her former backup dancer Kevin Federline from 2004 to 2007.
