Marilyn Monroe's white halterneck flared skirt midi, Audrey Hepburn's Breakfast at Tiffany's LBD and matching opera gloves, Jennifer Lopez's plunging palm-print Versace design, Carrie Bradshaw's newspaper dress... all iconic looks that rightfully belong in the fashion hall of fame, IMO. And add to that Britney Spears' strapless patchwork denim gown worn on the 2001 AMAs red carpet.
In the 23 years since she first wore the denim dress, some of our favourite celebrities including Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Dua Lipa, Khloé Kardashian, Ashley Graham and Anne Hathaway have all recreated the 'fit in Y2K inspired ensembles. And Maya Jama is the latest A-Lister to step out swathed in head-to-toe jean fabric.
Having partnered with Gordon's Gin on the launch of a new bottle for the drinks brand's premium pink flavour, Maya attended an event in London last night to reveal the design wearing a typically trend-led outfit that immediately made us think of *that* Britney look.

Maya's 'fit for the occasion was an Acne Studios mini dress printed to look deceptively like denim, complete with distressing and a wrap skirt. The lace-up detailing is also an illusion but playfully ends with real ties at the cuffs. The Love Island presenter (who recently reunited with boyfriend Stormzy) styled the dress with lace-up heeled boots in a two-tone washed denim fabric.
As for her beauty look, she wore her hair in a sleek updo with a side-swept piecey fringe. She kept her makeup mostly neutral with a statement black cat-eye liner flick and nude matte lip.
And this isn't the first time Maya has looked to Britney's AMAs 'fit for fashion inspo. She previously attended a dinner for footwear designer Amina Muaddi in a strapless shredded denim maxi dress that was packed full of noughties nostalgia.
Yep, Maya and Britney are two Y2K style queens.
