When it comes to her fraught relationship with her family, Britney Spears wants to mend old wounds.
More than two years after the pop princess' conservatorship was terminated and nearly a year since her ex, Sam Asghari, filed for divorce, a source tells ET Britney is looking to her closest personal relationships and, as her song goes, possibly break the ice.
"Britney wants to prioritize taking care of herself and reestablish a relationship with her family, including her kids," a source tells ET. "This is a top priority of hers and she would love to heal things and get to a place where things can be healthy and consistent."
Adds the source, "Britney's relationship with her mom is up and down, but ultimately she wants to work through their issues with the intention of moving forward in a positive way." In May 2023, Britney confirmed she reconnected with her mom, Lynne, who visited her for the first time in three years, according to the singer.

During her appearance on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here, Jamie Lynn said she had spoken to Britney before going on the show. "We love each other," she said.
Meanwhile, Britney and her sons, Sean, 18, and Jayden, 17, have been physically distant since she consented to ex-husband Kevin Federline relocating to Hawaii with them last year. At the time, a source told ET that "Britney loves and has always supported her children and wants them to be happy."
However, prior to their move, Kevin's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told ET he did not think there had been "any exercise of visitation or custody in the last year." The boys had not attended her wedding to Sam in June 2022. Three months later in an interview with 60 Minutes Australia, Kevin revealed their sons had decided not to see her. But, while speaking to ITV News around the same time , Jayden expressed his belief that their relationship could be repaired. "I 100 percent think it can be fixed, of course," Britney's younger son said. "I think it's just going to take a lot of time and effort... I really want to see her again."
Despite their strained relationship when it came time to pen her memoir, The Woman in Me, she dedicated the book to them. "For my boys," she wrote, "who are the loves of my life."
