It's been almost six years since Britney Spears last sat down for an interview, but she's now opened up with singer Tate McRae.
The Princess of Pop, 42, has stayed out of the spotlight ever since her controversial conservatorship came to an end in November 2021. Her last interview was in July 2018, but she's now returned to chat to Tate about her career.
In the interview, Britney seemed to hint at the state of her relationship with her family as she admitted one of her favourite songs is Tate's 'you broke me first'. The singer has had a turbulent relationship with her family, but it was believed she was rekindling her relationship with her mum Lynne Spears.

Tate explained: "I actually wrote 'you broke me first' when I was 16 and had never experienced real heartbreak beforeâ" only on a small scale. It stemmed from a couple of different places, like taking inspiration from friendships or situation-ships, and they all left me with the same feelingâ"dealing with someone wanting your relationship back, after giving them your all and them not recognising it."
Britney's comments come amid reports she was patching things up with her mum. In December 2023. Lynne's friend shared a photo of the mother and daughter celebrating Britney's birthday together.

The source added: "They were two peas in a pod." Lynne and Britney were estranged over the years of her conservatorship, which was controlled by her father Jamie Spears.
The Toxic hitmaker didn't hold back in her memoir The Woman In Me when it came to her mum. She wrote about the negative experiences she had with her mother throughout her childhood and said she was "scared in my home" as Lynne and Britney's father Jamie "fought constantly".
