The Culture

For most, the long 4th of July weekend is a time to get together with family and friends. Well, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck did that, just separately. And now a source close to Lopez is telling People magazine that the pair are "focused on their separate lives" and don't have any "have any summer plans together." Let's get into it.

While they spent the holiday weekend on separate coasts–Affleck in Los Angeles and Lopez in the Hamptons–the two still wore their wedding bands. But them doing that has done nothing to squash the separation rumors. To make things worse, another source tells People that Affleck has moved out of their Beverly Hills mansion and into a Brentwood rental.

And because they've remained largely silent while rumors spread, it's only led to more attention. Paparazzi seem to trail them wherever they go these days, with viral videos of Lopez looking visibly upset with the intrusion. (They also catch Affleck on his many Dunkin Donuts runs, which frankly I support because America runs on Dunkin.)

It doesn't seem like they're in any hurry to address the questions literally every entertainment journalist has for them, and that's fine. They should do it in their own time. But when they do talk, expect it to be big news!

Let's get into what else is poppin' in the world of entertainment...

  • Barbie is having a mini-Barbie! Margot Robbie and husband, Tom Ackerley, are reportedly having their first child, multiple sources confirmed to People. The couple have been married since 2016. One thing you can guarantee about this kid, with a mom like Barbie, there's no doubt they're going to be a stunner.
  • Kevin Bacon has no interest in being a normal person. He told Vanity Fair that he once donned prosthetics to see what it would be like to not be Kevin Bacon for a day. "People were kind of pushing past me, not being nice. Nobody said, 'I love you,'" Bacon told Vanity Fair. "I had to wait in line to, I don't know, buy a f***ing coffee or whatever. I was like, 'This sucks.' I want to go back to being famous.'" He had to wait in a line? Oh, life is so hard. It's interviews like this that make me glad to be more than six degrees from Kevin Bacon. (Actually, that's a lie, because I'm only one degree from Kevin Bacon. I interviewed him in 2022.)
  • Hollywood wants Joe Biden to drop out of the presidential race. Michael Moore, Stephen King, Rob Reiner and John Cusack are just a few of the Hollywood figures calling on the president to bow out of the race after that disastrous debate performance. Even major donor Abigail Disney wants him out. I chatted about what Biden is going to do with Newsweek's Jenni Fink on the latest episode of the Parting Shot podcast.
  • That's it for me today! I'll be back on Wednesday. In the meantime, keep scrolling for more entertainment news.
