Sam Asghari has opened up about why he chose not to delve into ex-wife Britney Spears' memoir.

The 30 year old actor, who was hitched to the pop icon from 2022 until their split in 2023, didn't see the point in reading her book 'The Woman In Me', despite being mentioned as a "gift from God".

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Sam said: "I did not read the book because I was there." He also touched on his commitment to privacy, hinting at an NDA and stating: "If my life is private, it's private. That's something I'm always going to respect, regardless of any agreement or not." He added, "It's just the values that I have."

The memoir is set for a cinematic makeover with Universal Pictures snapping up the rights, but Sam has made it clear he won't be involved in the biopic. Chatting with Access Hollywood, he confirmed: "I don't get involved with other people's projects creatively, but I think a lot of producers who are gonna be involved in it, they are gonna do justice by this amazing legacy that she had."

When Sam and Britney embarked on their romance, the '...Baby One More Time' songstress was entangled in a conservatorship that gave her family control over her vast wealth and many areas of her life. This legal arrangement wrapped up less than a year before she walked down the aisle with the 'Jackpot' actor.

Their wedding excluded her parents but featured a roster of celebs like Madonna, Selena Gomez, and Paris Hilton. Even though the marriage lasted just a smidge over a year, Sam has declared he's rooting for his former flame's happiness. Talking to E! News, he reflected: "You learn so much from being in relationships in general. I appreciate all the amazing experiences that I got."

"I'm always going to celebrate the past. and learn about the past and move on to the future. I wish her the best. She's an amazing person and a huge part of my life and I always appreciate the moments we had together."

There's a buzz that the forthcoming biopic might roll cameras at Britney's childhood abode in Kentwood, Louisiana, laying the backdrop for her rise to stardom in the late '90s. The current owner of the property, which hit the market last year for a cool $1.2 million, is reportedly ready to vacate for the film's duration if the price is right.
