Emma Roberts responds to Britney Spears biopic rumors: "Playing Britney would be a dream come true"

Emma Roberts recently responded to rumors about her potential casting in an upcoming biopic about Britney Spears, sparking excitement among fans. The buzz began when Britney Spears' longtime assistant, Felicia Culotta, suggested that Roberts should portray the pop icon in a film adaptation of Spears' memoir, The Woman In Me. Roberts, who has admired Britney for years, expressed her enthusiasm about the possibility.During an interview with Cosmopolitan, Roberts shared how thrilled she was by Culotta's endorsement. She revealed that playing Britney Spears would be a dream role for her. She reflected on her deep admiration for Spears, explaining that she had been a fan since childhood. In fact, Roberts recounted a memory from her younger days when she locked herself in her room to learn every word of Britney's album In the Zone. She laughingly admitted that she told herself she wouldn't leave the room until she had memorized every lyric.Roberts also mentioned how her love for Britney has influenced her everyday life. She confessed that she often sings Britney's songs to her young son during bath time. With a smile, she added that she sometimes wonders if her son finds it strange, joking that this is just part of being a millennial parent.Felicia Culotta, who has worked closely with Britney Spears since 1997, had previously suggested that Roberts would be a perfect fit for the role. Culotta pointed out the similarities between Roberts' early career on Nickelodeon's Unfabulous and Spears ' own beginnings on Disney Channel's The All-New Mickey Mouse Club. The parallels in their journeys as young stars make Roberts an ideal candidate to bring Britney's story to the big screen. In addition to Roberts' potential role, Culotta also mentioned that Timothée Chalamet could play Spears' ex-boyfriend, Justin Timberlake, and suggested that Drew Barrymore could portray Culotta herself in the film. The excitement around this biopic has been building since Britney Spears' memoir became a bestseller last year. The book, which quickly climbed to the top of the New York Times best-sellers list, led to a competitive bidding war among studios. Universal Pictures ultimately secured the rights to adapt the memoir into a film, with Jon M. Chu, the director of Wicked, set to direct. The Woman In Me chronicles Britney's journey from her upbringing in Mississippi and Louisiana to her rise to fame with her debut album …Baby One More Time. The book also delves into her 2008 conservatorship and her eventual emancipation, making it a highly anticipated story for both fans and filmmakers alike.
