Remember when rumors swirled about Darren Criss rejecting a Simon Cowell offer to host X Factor?
Well it didn't happen how you think.
Darren finally set the record straight last nightat the Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute Ball on Monday. His thoughts:
"Oh, it made me look awesome! I had nothing to do with it, and it made me look so cool. It was, like, free press… I'm happy to say that that was not actually true."
Happy?? We would love to possibly have Demi Lovato and Britney Spears as co-workers?
Darren explained why he would have declined Simon’s invitation anyway â€" and sadly it has nothing to do with putting A Very Potter Musical on ice. He said:
“I don't have time. But I'm thrilled… flattered that my name was even in that world."
So why didn’t the Glee star squash what he called a "delightfully misunderstood misunderstanding� He admitted:
“I didn't want to get in the way. I thought it was so cool."
You're right. That WOULD have been cool!!
Oh well, there are worse back-up plans than Gwen Stefani!!
