Singer Max gave the American Idol judge a kiss when the band performed on the show in April.
Max backs up Corrie actress Michelleâs recent claim in The Sun that she wasnât jealous of J-Lo. She was envious of HIM.
He said: âMy girlfriend was jealous but not because I was with J-Lo in that way.
âItâs because she wasnât with J-Lo. She has a massive crush on her.
âIf she met J-Lo it would be me keeping an eye on them two.
âSaying that, I wouldnât mind watching â" it would be great.â
Wooing the Latino star in LA was all Maxâs friends wanted to talk about as the band took time out after their gruelling US tour. He was happy to divulge because J-Lo was such a hit with the band.
Max said: âIâve had worse days. Her boyfriend was watching in the audience as well which made it even naughtier.
Michelle Keegan ... Max's girlfriend wished she was snogging superstar J-Lo instead
Dan CharityâBut sheâs easily one of the nicest stars weâve met. She was perfect.
âWhen I went to see Manchester City towards the end of last season, I was at the bar at half-time with my mates and thatâs all they were asking about. They were buzzing.â
J-Lo wasnât the only US female star to win the bandâs hearts.
The lads â" Max, Tom Parker, Jay McGuiness, Siva Kaneswaran and Nathan Sykes â" were equally impressed with her rival Britney Spears. They met the new US X Factor judge backstage at her Manchester concert last year.
Tom said: âBritney was really nice, a top girl. She was really down to earth and couldnât have been more welcoming.â
Jay said: âBritneyâs a country girl and people expect her to be the most articulate person ever. She has home values and doesnât know a lot more besides the fact she likes singing. Obviously, she had that breakdown but I can see why people do.
She's simply George-ous ... Max meets Jennifer Lopez in Los Angeles
âSheâs had people telling her what to do every day for years. Sheâs Britney Spears and if she wants to shave her head thatâs what sheâs going to do.â
The Wanted are equally quick to lay in to stars who havenât been so respectful. Christina Aguilera snubbed the lads during their performance on another hit US show, The Voice, in April. Jay said: âIf people are rude to us, weâre not going to sit in an interview and say weâre good friends. Thatâs bull****.â
The lads have been taking some well-deserved time off after a year touring in the US. Their single Glad You Came was a huge hit in America after it became a fixture on radio playlists.
With One Direction also pulling up trees in the States, itâs a good time to be in a British boyband. Not that The Wanted like being compared to their chart rivals. Their rough image makes them the East 17 to One Directionâs Take That.
This wonât change any time soon because the lads say theyâll continue to drink before gigs. They canât remember the last time they performed sober.
Jay said: âItâs the nightclub gigs which are a killer. The promoters give you a VIP card and say youâre on in an hour and hereâs lots of free drink. Itâs hard to sit in a club where everybody is enjoying themselves and not drink.â
Five star ... The Wanted (left to right): Max, Jay, Tom, Nathan and Siva
Tom added: âEveryone goes on about binge drinking but in the 1970s and 1980s that was just called âthe weekendâ. Itâs been part of our culture for so long. We go out and drink a lot. But we donât drink every day. When we go out, we enjoy ourselves.â
Siva appears to be the most professional one. He insists heâs only performed drunk once and will never do it again.
He said: âThe only time Iâve had a drink before going on stage was V Festival last summer and it was the worst vocal Iâve done. I was still drunk from the night before. It was embarrassing.â
The lads arenât worried by potential health problems caused by heavy drinking. According to Tom, theyâre just doing what normal â23-year-olds doâ.
However, they did reveal one member of the band is giving them some cause for concern. Tom said: âMax has heart problems non-stop.â
Siva added: âSometimes in interviews he randomly punches his chest, just to sort whatever problem he has going on in there.â
All Time High ... lads say they like to have a drink before performing on stage
Like their rivals 1D, The Wanted have quickly racked up a huge fanbase in the States, adding to their already large following in the UK.
They appreciate the adulation but they also have to put up with hardcore fans who sleep outside their parentsâ houses.
However, they insist the best thing about having adoring fans isnât the groupies â" itâs the endless supply of free clothes.
Tom said: âWeâre tramps, basically. We live off free stuff.â
Heâs not lying. Each member of the band was wearing an item of clothing given to them by a fan during this interview, from T-shirts to socks.
Their stash of free clothes means they save plenty of cash. Not that theyâre spending much on themselves.
Despite the royalties from their two albums and first UK arena tour topping up their accounts, the band have only been spending cash on their loved ones.
Nathan added: âIâve treated my family, got them a few bits. Nothing major.â
They may be about to splash the cash on motors but thereâs a problem â" none of them can drive. Max added: âWe drink too much so it wouldnât be safe anyway.â
Maybe itâs best they leave it a bit, then.
