The rising pop singer charts hit dance songs on Billboard

Rising pop provocateur Jessie Malakouti, known by her stage name Jessie and the Toy Boys, has been making waves in the music scene these past two years. Malakouti has been doing damage on the U.S. dance charts with her last few singles and will no doubt be hitting the mainstream ones soon with her mannequins by her side.

The singer first started out as a dancer, which led Malakouti to her first foray in music with rock and rap group, Shut Up Stella, in 2006. After the group made their mark on a few soundtracks, Malakouti decided to go solo. Her own material, like noteworthy track “Trash Me,” was featured in The Hills and was also said to have inspired Britney Spears' hit single, “If U Seek Amy.”

In 2010, Malakouti became Jessie and the Toy Boys with four mannequins acting as her band. Malakouti's plastic pals are usually animated on stage during a performance through her dancers or actual mannequins in her photo shoots and interviews. The group hit it big with first buzz single, “Push It,” released in February 2011 with rapper Yelawolf. The song would become her first hit on Billboard's dance music charts, peaking at No. 7. She has more fun than most doing laundry in the song's music video.

Malakouti would receive more exposure in June 2011 when she opened for Britney Spears during The Femme Fatale Tour. The singer delivered a short but sweet set of tunes from her debut EP, Show Me Your Tanlines. One of Malakouti's raunchy songs not featured on Tanlines would draw a big crowd response from Spears' fans.

“Let’s Get Naughty was a fan favorite on the Femme Fatale tour last year, so it was important for me to make a video for the song. It’s one of the more playful songs I’ve written for Jessie and The Toy Boys, and it’s really fun to dance to,” she told Music News Nashville in April.

The sexy “Let's Get Naughty” would be another dance hit for the rising star, peaking around No. 19 on Billboard's dance songs chart. The Femme Fatale favorite would receive the video treatment, in which Malakouti would deliver a clip just as risqué as the song itself. There is definite S&M action among Malakouti and her mannequins in the NSFW music video.

Aside from making good pop music, Malakouti also likes to makes tunes with a message. The song “Runaway,” originally about “breaking free and following your heart,” was later interpreted to be a celebration of Prop 8's overturning in California. The proposition banned gay marriage in the state, but once it was overturned, Malakouti wanted to bring more awareness to the issue in a stunning music video. The “Runaway” clip was released on Valentine's Day and in it Malakouti runs away with a female companion to get married.

Jessie and the Toy Boys have gone on to be featured in Rolling Stone and on Conan. They also had an exclusive track on Dancing with the Stars. Malakouti later scored a guest spot on DJ Felli Fel's song, “It's Your Birthday Bâ€"tch,” with Lil Jon. She will soon release her and the Toy Boys' debut album, tentatively titled This is How Rumors Start, later in the year.
