Britney Spears slams Halsey over music video, then deletes post; ‘that was not me’

Britney Spears is rescinding her harsh words regarding Halsey's new music video for her song "Lucky," claiming a post to her X account was not written by her.

Spears, 42, first accused Halsey of making her feel "harassed, violated, and bullied" on Friday, when Halsey released her video, which draws inspiration from Spears' 2000 hit of the same name.

In a now-deleted post on social media, Spears said she was consulting her lawyers, and described the situation as "illegal and downright cruel," reported TMZ.

But less than an hour later, she deleted the post, stating, "Fake news !!! That was not me on my phone !!! I love Halsey and that's why I deleted it !!!"

Halsey expressed her mutual affection for Spears, writing to her, "you were the first person who ever made me realize what it means to feel inspired. And you continue to inspire me everyday," in her own post.

The music video in question included a sample from Spears' original "Lucky" and depicts a young girl idolizing Halsey while she grapples with personal struggles.

The storyline includes scenes of her dealing with health issues and later removing a wig to reveal a shaved head.

Halsey had previously stated that Spears' approved of her using the iconic song, and responded to fans questions online by saying, "I wouldn't even dream of doing it without her blessing!"
