Halsey has responded after Britney Spears claimed a tweet sent from her account about her was "fake news."
The singer admitted her admiration for global superstar Britney as she took to (Twitter) X to respond to her denial that she had uploaded a post slamming Halsey and claiming she was planning to take legal advice over a music video.
Sharing her admiration for the chart-topper she told fans how she learnt how to be "inspired" by being a fan of Britney. She quoted Britney as she wrote: "and I love Britney!!!! I always have and always will. You were the first person who ever made me realize what it means to feel inspired. And you continue to inspire me everyday."
Britney's denial quoted on the post read: "Fake news !!! That was not me on my phone !!! I love Halsey and thatâs why I deleted it !!!" The original statement put out on Britney's account accused Halsey of "bullying" and claimed that she felt violated over the video to Halsey's track Lucky.
It read: "For obvious reasons, I'm very upset about the Halsey video. I feel harassed, violated, and bullied. I didn't know an artist like her and someone I looked up to and admired would illustrate me in such an ignorant way by tailoring me as a superficial pop star with no heart or concern at all. I have my own health problems which is why I took down my IG account yesterday. I will definitely be putting it back up to show I CARE. I'm speaking with my lawyers to see what can be done on this matter. It feels illegal and down right cruel."

She confirmed last month that she has been battling an illness privately as she revealed she would be donating to both The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the Lupus Research Alliance alongside the release of the single.
On Lucky she sings: "I shaved my head four times because I wanted to and then I did it one more time cause I got sick," she contines: "I thought I changed so much nobody would notice s***, and no one did. Then I left the doctor's office full of tears / Became a single mom at my premiere / I told everybody I was fine for a whole damn year, and that's the biggest lie of my career."
In a nod to Britney, Halsey channels the pop princess during her heyday as she samples her single from 2000. The video features a cameo from actor Simon Rex, who was linked romantically to Britney at the time. Halsey alters the lyrics to Britney's original track singing: "But I'm so lucky, I'm a star, but I cry, cry, cry in the lonely heart thinking: 'If there's nothing missing in my life, then why do these tears come at night?'" On her version Britney sang: "She's so lucky, she's a star, but she cry, cry, cries in her lonely heart, thinking: 'If there's nothing missing in my life, then why do these tears come at night?'"
