Britney Spears likely didn't realize it when she recorded and released her song "Toxic" that one day, it would be associated with one of the most exciting holidays in America. The tune is one of many pop and rock songs that have come to be connected with Halloween for one reason or another, and that means there's a good chance that it will rise in consumption every October.

That's exactly what's happened this week on one Billboard chart. "Toxic" returns, as interest in the tune soars, with what must be a large population of Americans adding it to party playlists or simply enjoying the cut again during the spookiest time of the year.

"Toxic" is back on the Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs chart this week. Spears' cut reappears at No. 16 on Billboard's list of the most-streamed tracks in the U.S. that are labeled as either dance or electronic when it comes to genre.

Spears is no stranger to the Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs list, especially with "Toxic." The tune has now spent 42 weeks somewhere on the chart, though not all in a row. In the past, it's danced its way to No. 4.

"Toxic" is Spears' longest-running hit on the streaming-only roster, but only by one week. It beats her only No. 1, "Hold Me Closer," her duet with Elton John. Two other singles, "Work Bitch" and "Scream & Shout" with Will.I.Am, have both also reached the top 10, stalling at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively.

Spears leads a collective of artists who return to the Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs chart this week. "Toxic" is one of half a dozen returning favorites to the tally, which is actually a fairly large number, considering the list only features 25 spaces.

"Toxic" lands just two spaces ahead of "Disturbia" by Rihanna. Fellow Halloween party standards like "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees and, more recently, "Houdini" by Dua Lipa, also find their way back to the Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs chart. Smashes from stars such as Disclosure and Sam Smith ("Latch") and even Calvin Harris alongside Rihanna ("We Found Love") also return to the same ranking.
